Humble Beginnings, a Cultivation Quest

"If you're not working right now, can you come to the edge of town? There's supposed to be cultivators riding in tonight, I wanna see them!"
Riding in, eh? How about this, then:

[X] Go with Wen Jianyu to watch the cultivators, but first use the coins to purchase a treat for the beasts you expect them to ride in on.

This:

-gets us what we, as questers and as Xiǎo Nú, want the most (watching the cultivators).
-gives us a chance to enhance what we, as questers, want the most (attracting the attention of cultivators and/or ingratiating ourselves with them).
-solves a possible issue we, as Xiǎo Nú, have (angering our master by both returning home late and hiding our coins).
-plays pretty well with our Compassion Ideal, which wording includes "those who shoulder similar burdens" (easy to picture Xiǎo Nú seeing herself as not much more than a beast of burden to her master, no matter how fond of her she thinks he is).
-fleshes out our character a bit (we like animals enough to do something like this).

I dig.

Might be a waste, but we might get to see some cool beasts.

So with the animal food purchase write in seeming somewhat popular and not necessarily contradicting the 'official' Wen Jianyu option, but with a lot of votes already cast prior to its creation, I will probably run a quick, 12-hour vote between the two after the current vote is over, deciding whether to buy animal treats or save the money. That's assuming the official vote wins with the write in as second - if the write in wins despite the time 'handicap', just gonna go with it.

honestly starting as a slave I think will be an interesting way to circumvent SV's (reasonable) tendency to accumulate advantage & then move in quests like these, instead of something more kinetic, fluid, and experiential that I think we're gonna get with this quest. I'm super excited for it :)

Mudanshu was a small town, unimportant in any greater scheme, and not near enough to any border to warrant a continual cultivator presence.
This doesn't quite fit with:
[X] Plan A Flavorful Optimization
-[X] Write in: a Gunsmith
Hou Yanlin, a retired handcannoneer, has turned his expertise towards gunsmithing in a city teeming with cultivators.
Which is absolutely fine. It wasn't an important detail to me, and we could replace city with world and solve the discrepancy at once. I just thought I'd point it out.

Glancing up, she saw the jolly face of Wen Jianyu, a local boy her age whose father supplied raw materials to Hou Yanlin. This caused the two to often cross paths, and Wen Jianyu's lack of regard for their disparate social strata had cemented him as one of the few that Xiǎo Nú could call a friend.
How come he doesn't qualify to be one of our Intimacies? Is the bond not strong enough, is he not important/influential enough to warrant it, or what?

...oh shit, whoops.

The relationship isn't really strong or central to her character enough to warrant it. Note that her literal owner only has a rating of 1 - she currently does not have any super strong relationships.

So far a strong start to what seems like an interesting quest. FWIW Threads of Destiny was the first quest I read as well and what led me to SV.
