[X] Look into Hannah Rey's friends and family, they might know where she's been before her passing.

I'd rather not lie about not knowing anything about the existence of the afterlife I'd also rather not have to explain why we lied about its existence when they find out and if there's even afterlife here it could be only absolute dogshit torture hellscapes like Diyu

An empty or nonexistent afterlife is less interesting than one with history and inherent plot hooks.
Also, it makes it feel like there was godly stuff before Aves, which does serve as filling in that... not even plot hole, as much as empty region where other supernatural stuff is.

We looked on the scene enough, but didn't do much of a background check.
Also, we got the ghost lass who might want to say a tearful goodbye to her close ones. Might give both of them some closure, too.

[X] Factual: "Souls are real. They persist after the body does. What happens to them from there...I suppose I've never checked. I would assume so; they do seem to go somewhere."

[x] Take a closer look at the body, maybe there's something on her that you could salvage for clues?

[JK] "Actually, upon death the human soul is reborn in a medieval fantasy world and typically is forced to fight a demon king or some such."

I read this as us 'deciding' what the state of the afterlife of Cyberpunk is. The first option defers the question until later, the second is a blank slate that we can and probably will build on, and the third I feel is a set-up for a future plot hook.

I like that, so let's go with option 3.

[X] Investigate the scene some more, there might be even more clues hidden beneath all the trash and blood.

"Is there an Afterlife?"

I don't recall many stories that actually thought about the implications of the Afterlife, beyond it is or isn't a thing. If there's an Afterlife, that naturally diminishes the terror of death since it wouldn't be Cessation of Existence. Thus murder would be more "Forcibly sending people to another country with few to no ways back", making it a 'softer' crime than currently.

I feel like this is something you'd need to be care with regardless, since either Death loses a fair deal of meaning or people become vastly more terrified/paranoid if there's Pure Nothingness awaiting them. There being something off with the Afterlife is certainly an interesting option, since it still makes Death frightening as part of the pre-existing terror comes from the unknown of what'll happen.

Also I'm reminded of something where in a Deleted Scene(?) the Main Villain rants about how Hell used to be pretty peaceful until Humans started dying and bringing all their messed-up emotions & desires for punishment there. I wouldn't be surprised that Night City managed to corrupt the local Afterlife completely by accident.
