[X] Examine the bloody footprints, they may lead you somewhere or you could get an idea of the make of the shoes.
Montoya held the scanner in his hands as he followed the trail of bloody footprints out of the alley, leaving behind the forensics team who were gathering everything they could from the scene and unfortunately, due to the lack of cameras in this particular area they couldn't digitally restructure the crime scene and get a clearer image on what had just happened here. Speaking of which, according to the prints he was seeing and what extra information the scanner could provide, whoever their culprit was, they were either a big fella or at least had really long legs.
The length of their stride had quite a distance between them, no wonder their vic was terrified on call, if he were being chased by someone this big and this fast? He'd need a literal miracle to survive.
And speaking of miracles, his gaze turned to the floating divinity next to him, the spirit of their victim still cradled in his arms like some kind of babe. "Is she going to be alright?" It was a dumb question, he knew but, what the hell can you say after finding out that your god sort of just brought someone back from the dead?
"As fine as anyone would be." You reply calmly, two of your arms occupied with keeping her spectral form close to your chest, another two seemingly embracing her almost protectively. Your eyeless gaze lands on her for a brief moment before turning it back to Montoya. "Even in death she still feels pain."
"Yeah.. stupid question." Montoya sighs, he can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to go through something like that. He always thought it'd be a mercy when death came, but after what he had heard from Hobbins and Aves himself? He wasn't so sure anymore. "Aves?" He began, his tone hesitant.
You turned to look at him, "Yes, Detective Montoya?" You acknowledged the hesitance and curiosity in his voice.
"When you… pulled out of… wherever she was." He struggled to put it into words, trying to think of a way of asking without sounding too weird or seeming like he was prying too much, for some reason he felt as if he shouldn't be asking this, "Is there an afterlife?" The detective asks, resuming his walk, following the trail of footprints which quickly faded though the scanner could still pick up trace amounts of blood but the dirt kicked up from passing cars and pedestrians were beginning to quickly muddle up the train. "Ah shit."
You pause for a moment to think about it as Detective Montoya begins scanning the surroundings, hoping to find some kind of clue. This was… a rather delicate topic that you were not quite sure how to speak of.
"Is there an Afterlife?"
[ ] "I do not know. I was not even aware I could do that until now." (Effects Unknown)
[ ] "There isn't. It was simply by chance and luck that I managed to pluck Hannah Rey's essence before she faded." (Effects Unknown)
[ ] "There is, but I have a feeling that something has happened to it." (Effects Unknown)
[ ] "Actually…" (Write In:)
The expression on Detective Montoya's face was something that you could not decipher and before you could prod him further, the scanner let out a beep as it had managed to pick up something. "Hold that thought." His attention diverts to the device in his hands as he held it up, scanning the street before him and picked up his pace.
His stride ends a few feet away, the scanner pointing at the ground, moving back and forth as he tries to get a clear scan of the area. "It just stops."
Pardon?
You hadn't realized you had spoken out loud until the detective elaborated his statement, "The just stops here. Almost as if the perp just stopped existing."
"Or he got into a vehicle." You surmised, following the detective's logic. "That or he has an accomplice."
The detective shook his head but looked thoughtful. "Can't jump to conclusions just yet but that is very possible." He allowed, already calling up their runners to try and get some footage from the traffic cameras and local subnets but it will take awhile for them to sort through the data and vids.
What's the next step in the investigation?
[ ] Investigate the scene some more, there might be even more clues hidden beneath all the trash and blood.
[ ] Look into Hannah Rey's friends and family, they might know where she's been before her passing.
[ ] Take a closer look at the body, maybe there's something on her that you could salvage for clues?
[ ] That's enough for now. (Ends the investigation)
