I say we should go further than that and ingrain into the minds of every texan present and future the punishment of being slave owing assholes and why it's good to have proper fire management.I like my barbecue woth lots of well done Texan in it.

Though at this point France is fucking itself up propping up imperial Mexico and Max is already destroying his support with conservative Mexican institutions by not backing reaction to the hilt and being a quasi-liberal of the Vienna saloons and cafes, setting the lay up for Juarez and the Mexican liberal republicans to come swinging back in a proper liberation of Mexico once the Union puts money and surplus guns in their hands, and a whole like Tet Offensive makes France pull out in disgrace.

And as for Gladstone and friends, they waited too long mustering their support in government- now even the son of slavetraders can only offer the flimsy justification of some imagined humanitarian catastrophe of slave insurgents massacring the planters, as the window for any real intervention. British interventionism is cooked tbh, what with all the anti-slavery mobilization of the lower classes expressed in Yorkshire textile workers refusing to move hot Southron cotton even as the Union blockade nearly destroys their livelihoods, and in British juries starting to fight protracted battles over the legality of building any more Confederate commerce raiders and pretty much freezing the cottage industry doing so by '64.
 
Also, while a great symbol, Booth is an actor of some skill and... not much else. Like the entire population of the Western Confederacy is rather small and even more than that the Mississippi has been in our hands for quite some time anyways. Like, I just think that their viability is low and don't know why the British would suddenly decide to back a rump state in the midst of collapse that still believes in slavery and is sheltering and supporting a political assassin...

Now, maybe France makes some noises, but they're busy themselves fucking up in Mexico, as noted.
