Texas is also a self contained unit I could easily see a foreign power try to support into independence.

Not sure anyone is really interested in picking up the ruins of the deep south right now, on the other hand :V

Even if you think its effect internationally has been exaggerated by history,it would still be very stupid of Europe to ratfuck the US after the Emancipation Proclamation especially with the CSA on its last legs,i honestly have no clue where the fear of international intervention is coming from.

Also please,lets finish off the remaining CSA armies and central government first,both are miles more of a ticking time bomb to leave off than Booth and his guerillas,they can wait for their turn to the rope for the time being.

Getting the proper armies out of the field seems like a good thing to prioritise

Booth can rally the Confederacy but there's no way for Texas and the West to hold out against us long term. The East is where the industry and population are, so we should go after them.

Nah Davis first. Let them put Booth into the actual Confederate presidency if they dare. More fuel for the Union rage machine. It will only be when blinded by sheer rage that the Union would ever allow itself to take the steps and kill the people necessary for a truly radical reconstruction. 40 acres and a mule taken from every person to aide the remnants of the Confederacy post Appomattox and given to those that have laboured wothout reward since our nations birth and a public hanging for every high level leader of the Confederate goverment and military.

I should also say if they put booth in the confederate presidency he would be far worse as they have to deal with famine not even industrial areas can deal with it
