What I would like you to understand is that vampire society is much more violent than you seem to believe. With an independent caitiff, it would only be enough for us to give any scion a bad look and they would punch us to death behind an alley. I know not everyone is like this, but the embrace and long life ends up turning most of these beings into conniving sociopaths, only held back by the fact that they don't trust each other and by the incredible violence their princes and his arcontes are capable of commit. It would also greatly influence what our generation would be, but considering that we are a noir detective, I don't think it is more than 11 or 10 generation.
It's more complicated than that. When a sire turns a human into a vampire he ends up creating a blood bond with his childe. It's not something inherent to the Tremere, it's a blood art that any Kindred is capable of. This gives them the ability to command and influence those with a weaker vitae than theirs. Childes are controlled this way as they are always of a lower generation than their Sires. The Tremere have only mastered and perfected this art as one of their many sorceries. Although you're right that it wouldn't screw us right away, breaking this bond and betraying the sire has become the signature cliché of the entire Masquerade universe.
EDIT: Now that I realize it, considering that we are in Philadelphia and there is a conflict between the anarchs, the camarilla and the cabal, what are the chances that we will meet a Theo Bell sent to take care of the situation?
