Blood-soaked Destinies (A Vampire the Masquerade Quest)

I hope the Caitiff wins. I have never seen a Caitiff quest before and playing one would be interesting.

Begin a Caitiff would make our character truly unbound, owning aligance to no one but himself and his ideals. The potential for that its great.

I just realized that the quest is set before "reawakening" from the great prank, so Camarilla Malkavians would technically still have dominate as an in-clan discipline. Luckily for me you choose independent, so it's possible for the character to have been a sabbat embrace if Malkavian wins.

Cool quest, also please no insane vampire, that is hard to work with in a quest and I suspect harder to write.

It would be more difficult to be sure, but I would hardly make it a fishmalk. It's more likely to be along the lines of a very quirky or eccentric person than sometimes knows things he or she shouldn't. Otherwise they would probably be fairly normal. That being said, a caitiff quest would be very interesting and fit with the themes of the Noir setting that was chosen. I actually started writing the first chapter and I think it is shaping up nicely. A few Adjustments will have to be made depending on which vote wins but overall most things were decided in the previous few voting phases.

'The voting lasted for days. One might think, that the tie would never end, much like an everlasting hunt to quench our insatiable thirst. Time, as they say, has been kind to me and yet I cannot say the same about the rest of the voters. Those poor people, drawn to this place like moths towards an open flame, hoping the find a spark of life, that was forever taken from them~'

"Are you talking to yourself again, ya loon?"

'"Just reminiscing about the folly of man" I casually said to the unsophisticated man with a complete lack of fine taste, both in body and mind, paying no heed to his tactless comment.

He was not amused.'

One advantage of going Caddif is that for all the disadvantages that we get from not belonging to any one clan we also do not get their issues. We do not have to deal with clan weaknesses, or as they should all too often called, the plots of the Antediluvians. The Sabat are a bunch of loons, but they do have that much right, the Grandfathers are pulling the strings and personally I do not want Malkav in our PC's head, that is what the Madness Network is at its most basic level, it is the progenitor of the clan hiding in plain sight

The madness is apart of the charm, though!

Also, isn't Malkav being the Madness Neteork only an in-universe theory?

To call Caddif one of the most free vampires is a strong exaggeration. Yes, they are not bound by obligations to Sire, but this is accompanied by universal contempt mixed with fear and disgust. Of course, they are not influenced by the clan, but this only means that they can not count on even minimal support from the primogen clan, which is available to everyone. In some cities, killing a Caddif is not even considered a crime.
In general, Caddif are very unhappy outsiders who are practically not included in the vampire hierarchy based on clans, kinship and ties, and they may not even expect to ever rise at least somewhere above the initial steps of power.

The thing is being hated and feared does not make you unfree, it makes you hated and feared. The kinship and power of the clans is an illusion, it is all a game an a lie made up by mad monstrosities from the dawn of time. Let them hate us as long as we do not have to dance to their strings.

Yo my name is Vampy!

Caitiff aren't particularly free, since the vast majority of them lack the connections a to keep a given high rank vampire or the local prince from ordering them killed. Infact an unauthorized siring is typically grounds for execution, though unless caitiff numbers get unmanageable most princes won't care enough to exploit this fact. At the end of the day we apparently know enough people to be safer than most Caitiff, presumably because we are portraying ourselves as an estranged member of a clan for an easier time .

Fully agree, better rule in hell than be a servant in heaven.

If we want, i am sure we can find other outcasts and renegades to become our allies. Plenty of Kindred from Clan Brujah or other Caitiff like us would join us if we can make a good argument.

Who knows, maybe we can make our own Sect.

Being a vampire, it is almost impossible not to come into contact with vampire society if you need to lead an active lifestyle, and not sit in a small town with three or four vapmirs. And if we start interacting with the vampire society, the fear and contempt are what will greatly complicate our path and close many paths.
As for Jyhad, no kindred is free from it, it is naive to think that Caddif are more free than others only because one connection with the Patriarchs has been weakened. Besides, frankly speaking, the Patriarchs and Jyhad are not something we should be afraid of, we are too insignificant for such a level of strength and most likely we will never touch this topic.

You have just described the Anarchs.

We almost have to interact with other vampires, that is not the same thing as having to interact with say elders and the thing about elders is they are for the most part inhuman monsters, it is how they lasted out the ages. Even if you are not concerned with the Antediluvians there is still the matter of regulat clan elders. I would rather have the generalized disdain of all over the focussed interest of some

You are aware that hunting in a carmilla princes territory without his permission will get us ashed right? Your either way, way outside the carmilla's purview, or your under there thumb by some degree, us more than the average Caitiff given our strength is in connections and manipulation which forces us to interact with the Carmilla more than normal. We have a degree more of safety through those connections, but that costs us some freedom even more freedom than the average Caitiff.

So do not hunt in their territory. We choose the open road right? Avoid the corpses with pretentions of nobility and we should be fine. We can have connections with the other factions, not just he Anarchs and the Sabat but some of the more powerful independents.

If we do not become part of the Tremor, then the primogenes cannot give us orders, at best, these are requests whose non-fulfillment will put us out of favor with a very powerful figure who represents our clan. That is painful for our status, but if you wish, you can reject such a service.
But being a Caddif that is not touched because of its usefulness, we do not acquire immunity to the "requests" of significant vampires. It's just that, in addition to all the sanctions listed above, we cannot count on the primogen of our clan to stand up for us and make sure that we are treated fairly.
With all this, I want to say that Caddif's only special protection is the indifference of others, but it will instantly disappear as soon as we show significant success. But while this protection will disappear, all the negative qualities of being Caddif will remain after it.

What I would like you to understand is that vampire society is much more violent than you seem to believe. With an independent caitiff, it would only be enough for us to give any scion a bad look and they would punch us to death behind an alley. I know not everyone is like this, but the embrace and long life ends up turning most of these beings into conniving sociopaths, only held back by the fact that they don't trust each other and by the incredible violence their princes and his arcontes are capable of commit. It would also greatly influence what our generation would be, but considering that we are a noir detective, I don't think it is more than 11 or 10 generation.

It's more complicated than that. When a sire turns a human into a vampire he ends up creating a blood bond with his childe. It's not something inherent to the Tremere, it's a blood art that any Kindred is capable of. This gives them the ability to command and influence those with a weaker vitae than theirs. Childes are controlled this way as they are always of a lower generation than their Sires. The Tremere have only mastered and perfected this art as one of their many sorceries. Although you're right that it wouldn't screw us right away, breaking this bond and betraying the sire has become the signature cliché of the entire Masquerade universe.

EDIT: Now that I realize it, considering that we are in Philadelphia and there is a conflict between the anarchs, the camarilla and the cabal, what are the chances that we will meet a Theo Bell sent to take care of the situation?

As the proto-Sabat discovered blood bonds can be dealt with, elders can be removed. Childer are usually controlled that way, push them far enough and... well there is a reason the Camarilla even formed and that is because the elders were terrified of having their undead asses diablerized by the childer they abused too much.

To shine some light on this situation, Clan does not play as big a role in this game as you seem to think. I prefer to create and play vampires as individuals with more personalized goals rather than ideal stereotypes of their clans. They may have leanings of preconceptions for and/or against certain clans, but largely they will care for their own interests first and their associates second, with their clans goals coming fourth or fifth at best, if at all. There are of course exceptions to this, but they are in the minority. As for the machinations of the ancients, it is fairly unlikely that you will encounter any of that sort. Noir themes seem to be for the most part focussed on inner conflict or inter-personal relations. That being said I will answer questions as best I can.

So the Malkavian option for this quest would forgo fish fondling in favor of bleeding into a goblet while wearing nothing but a helmet. I'll keep that in mind.

The vote is once more at a three way tie. How does this even happen?
