Through Fire, Steam, And The Rage of Man (NO SV, YOU Are Plotting Revenge!)

Not with the Von Meternich System in Place! Serously that thing was like the big check on our ambition...also Russia outnumbers us at least 2 to one and has slightly better logistics then us (Remember they won't suck until After the Crimean War)

hey! don't crush my (admittedly big) dreams like that, the PLC will rise again! And after that Poland shall, indeed, into space.

For now Poland can into an Industrial Economy...or it would if the Russians would stop stealing all our resources and Factories and moving them East into Russaia.

Any more questions on anything, like how Protogues and Pawns and Hero Units work?

Tbh i didn't even know there WERE Pawns or hero units. And is that supposed to be 'protagnists' or 'prologues' ?

But if you think we should know how they work fire away.

But if you think we should know how they work fire away.
Pawns: the notable foot soldiers and agents of our plot who mechanically give small roll bonus's and or actions to assist.

Hero Units: Active powerful agents/Characters that you can use for missions and adventures.

Protege: A personally molded Hero unit/ Freind/ Number Two, selected to be the player character should our character die. It is a measure to make sure that if you choose your revenge does not die with you.

nd is that supposed to be 'protagnists' or 'prologues
It's supposed to be Protege. Sorry

So this plan is about making friends in places high and low, because our enemies are powerful, and we are weak alone. Obviously we don't give a shit about Prince Constantine, but he's one of the few people in our sphere who might be able to protect us from That Bastard Pavlovich. Getting an in with him by giving him a private tour of The Casimir and waxing poetic about what it might mean for the future of Russia and Poland, not to mention the rest of our grand designs, could buy us the insulation we need to build some momentum.

We also need friends in the garrison and the underworld to make evacuating our people safer/smoother when the Warsaw Uprising goes belly up. I was originally going to go Full Support for the uprising, but since Pavlov's Bitch is just looking for an excuse to cull us and we have no protection as yet, coupled with the family history of helping people escape and our own skills, I think helping with evacuation planning is more suited.

Lastly, consistency is key when trying to make worldshaking inventions, and the text calls out our fitness as a grave issue, and it's important to be able to run for our life if we need to.

Yes, having a good relationship with people is a key component of the quest and how you use them to your advantage.
but since Pavlov's Bitch is just looking for an excuse to cull us and we have no protection as yet, coupled with the family history of helping people escape and our own skills, I think helping with evacuation planning is more suited.

Yeah i designed our antagonist to be the perfect foil to you , from manners to belief and personality.

Exercise Quality: D6 => 6,

You looked at the Soldier who had taken the time to help with your Physical training and nodded as your body felt sore and tired after several months of visiting him and his friends.

"Dare I say that no major man has ever willingly subjected himself to my torture for training…you've done well." He said.

Reward: +6 to your Physical Might.

-[X]The Paper Integrated Cartridge: This Novelty invention is something with vast military applications, and you mean to get it before the Russians do. Let's Carry on with it then. Rolled: D100 => 80+22=102

At least you have the right quality of Black Powder.

Reward: Progress Made: 196/500 on the Paper Integrated Cartridge.

-[X]Jakob Puch and the Case of the Warsaw Uprising: You had overheard, through the grapevine of the Philomath, that something was coming to Warsaw, war and Revolution to get rid of the Tsar…You might want to investigate this matter. To…

Wars are not won by Evacuation, but by protecting people, even failure can become a Victory.

Preparations were made, safe houses were quietly established in the Border Areas, and Passports were forged and sent to anyone that could afford it.

Even the serfs were being given a chance, not that they were your equals…but because you had a duty to protect them from reprisal.

They deserve to live, and be free. Because that is what virtuous men do.

Reward: Escape Routes and Safe Houses Established in all Border Regions away from Russia. +20 to all Escape Rolls from Poland. ???
Gain +1 Intrigue.

-[X]Speak to Prince Constantine: Your actions especially in regards to building a Steam Engine have gotten his attention, perhaps you can use it to your advantage. A Favor…or opportunity.
Rolled: D100 => 5+21+10 (The Casimir)+5 =41

Prince Constantine for his part looked bored at you. It was a kindness that you think that he had only the time to seemingly belittle you.

Then the Baron's men held you in place. "Jakob Puch…Russia's finest Engineer."

Ahh, he was going on a power trip. Best prepare yourself for…

The Garrison was there with full Rifles and a dug grave. Ahh, so he was subjecting you to this?

"A Mock Execution? Without a trial? Seems a bit harsh even for you?" You said as the Prince nodded and smacked you in the face with his walking stick.

He knew your value…everyone did, even with Casimir safely away, the broadsheets and images that you made to champion it were common knowledge now.

"Your right to your tongue is only allowed due to its need to explain things for the future." He said.

This was a forced attempt at trying to gain submission, to cow you into a feeling of weakness.

"If you wish for anything…why did you waste time and effort in this attempt at intimidation?" You said.

"Because you represent something that cannot be allowed in this age. A Competence of sorts that is…by its nature destructive." He said. "You are a man of competence, dignity, and intelligence and those qualities will inevitably lead you astray if they haven't already."

"I think that the work of your dogs has done it already." You said looking at the men holding you.

"Quite…but your family were traitors, arming and supplying possible insurrectionists and guerilla fighters, worse they broke the law of the land by consorting with Jews and helping serfs leave the land they are bound to. They had to die…and the Baron has been most effective at making that matter known across your homeland." He said.

"So… you're going to get on with it?" You said.

"No…because those qualities I have mentioned above have left us with little evidence to use against you. I will find them eventually but the matter is shall we say left in limbo." He said.

"Have you always been like this to people you don't like?" You said.

"Only to those that are … delightfully intriguing." He said. "How much do you want to buy Casimir from you?"

"I'm not selling, and I doubt even with all your wealth you could afford it. Same with the designs" You said.

"Are you denying me?" He said.

"I am denying you an untested and unproven machine that could very well kill you." You said.

"Ahh, I see. I will be ready to receive the completed product." He said. "Throw him in the River…the message has been received."

You were thrown into the Vistula and had trash thrown at you, as you crawled out of the River.

Reward: Prince Constantine hates you, and wishes you to work for the Russian Government as an Engineer in Moscow. He also recognizes you as one of the most dangerous Poles in the Kingdom.

Gain +1 Charisma.

-[X]Engross yourself with the Garrison: The Local Garrison is Polish and restless, maybe being an ear they can complain to and not get flogged for what they say, will go a long way.
Rolled: D100 => 91+8=99

Captain Piotr Wysocki looked at you as you sighed, shivering in the Tavern near the river.

"Come to arrest me?" You said as he patted your back and looked at your clothes drying by the fire, leaving you in your skivvies with a blanket.

"On the contrary…how did your meeting go?" He said giving a wave and an order.

"Terrible, but I'm not dead, so there's that." You said. "More than I can say for many others that cross his path."

"Alas, I have grand hopes for this situation." He said. "There is a change coming."

"Of that, I have no doubt." You said. "Peace and Safety on your grand campaign Captain."

"And to you your pursuit of knowledge Polymath." The Captain said. "Should you ever need me or my men…do ask, but make sure it does not endanger either of our careers."

"I think what we both want is a mess of a thing that will endanger more than our careers." You said.

"That is true…fair tidings."He said as he left.

" A bit of Free advice Captain: Don't go into it half-cocked you bastard…" You said.

Reward: Ally Met: Captain Piotr Wysocki and the Warsaw Polish Garrison. New Action available. +1 Military Might.
??? Factor added to the uprising Chance.

-[X]Finding The Underground: Criminality and Unsavory people are a hallmark of any civil society… It's finding them that is the hard part. Rolled: D100 => 98+10=108

Levi Abrams was a quiet man, but he hid the curls and the man was above all else; properly dressed.

He was also one of the best book smugglers in the business, you can count on one hand how many books he brought from Prussia and Austria.

"What do you want?" He said smiling as you handed a gold coin.

"I need your services and networking skills…for the more nefarious business of war." You said.

He nodded. "I see, well, this is an expensive and risky proposition, with that network that Baron dog left up, I'm going to need something more than word and good faith. It's bad enough to be even talking about the matter your considering."

"Better a Polish state than a Russian one for your kind, If history is anything to go off of." You said.

"Mayhapse, but it is a risk." He said. "Should anything go wrong…save us."

"I already have made plans and arrangements for such an issue." You said handing over a passport.

"Then its done." He said.

Well I thought the actions and their consequences flowed into each other fairly well. I thought the scene with the captain could be a bit longer, but I liked the scene itself. The scene with the prince was great too, what a bastard. You really like melodrama huh? It's not so common, but it's not bad.

One question, the option I do like to pick is Contact the Sjem, but I want to know if Jakob thinks this will let him retain deniability around the collusion with he uprising.

I think we should stick to our strengths, and although that exercise roll was amazing, we are still much more capable at moving society with words than swords.

Also... Did you steal The Magoose Dice?!

[X]Reinforce the Escape Routes: Best to make sure that these don't fall apart. You may need it.

Historically when the Uprising failed the Diaspora was unable to flee with the captured Gold across the border into friendly government accounts because their routes were compromised, and then other stuff.
Also... Did you steal The Magoose Dice?!
I rolled the dice for him so... I was wondering.
