Succubusekai: The Demoness Just Wanted To Stay With Her Friends! [Original-Ish] [Quest]

There's a mineral oil product called WD-40
Not sure if I feel good introducing PFASes like PTFE into even a fictional environment, but maybe Helen has some future knowladge to deal with that stuff.

[X] (The Order) Deal with it - go forth and adventure, and in a few days relative to your experience, your stuff will arrive. You won't have it yet, but that's fine.

Some products sold under the WD-40 brand (e.g. "WD-40 Specialist Dry Lube with PTFE") contain perfluorocarbons, but the standard-issue WD-40 product (what you get if you just buy "WD-40") does not contain perfluorocarbons.

Also, this is a magical world full of creatures that routinely emit noxious exotic substances from assorted body parts, and nature spirits that are much more proactive about biosphere maintenance.

I don't think we need to worry about the kinds of trivially minor pollution a single spray-can could cause. It'll be a drop in the bucket compared to the nearest green dragon.

That feeling when I realize I forgot to turn the vote timer on. It's been backdated to a few minutes before my last post, so the votes within should be included; that's now been corrected.

As noted elsewhere, regular WD-40 does not have as many such issuesome components, and a few cans are unlikely to be a major pollution problem, especially if not used all at once. That said, there's other cautions that Eira will be reading from the can before she puts them to use.

We do need to think of some things for Senaz to buy. Her abilities negate the need for quite a few things. What kinds of things might they facilitate? Okay, legal things, I think we can all guess what kinds of horrors she could unleash with the right chemicals. Or land mines. (She can teleport, and be sneaky. Slipping horrible concotions into water and food supplies would be disturbingly easy)

Ethereal Shift could be a particularly nasty tool here, since it doesn't have a failure chance like teleport.

And, finally, An Art, though I'm linking this one instead of throwing the image up, and politely warning that the artist, MythKaz, is a multipurpose kink artist - this particular pic is fine, but clicking around can get you into Just About Anything DeviantArt Allows - and his Patreon goes further than that. But here's Senaz in a bunnysuit, because April.

We do have limited vacation time. Probably best to save some of it for when the group really needs rest outside of time specifically.

Hmm, things for Senaz to buy....

Fridge restocking? The party likes food, even if Senaz doesn't technically need it.
...Sweets to use as bribes. Sweet things are a lot harder to get in a medieval setting, and historically even kings would pay out big time for a high-end pastry...
Over-the-counter drugs with useful effects.
Potentially could look into items that are cheap in Earth cash but could be sold for much gold here... maybe we could set up a 'trade route' of some sort that turns a major profit...
A portable digital camera could have some good uses...

[X] (Eira's Base Shopping Idea) "Some of these camp and adventuring items sound great! What are lockpicks like in your time?"
[X] (Helen's Shopping Plan) Write-In - "You never did look at footwear, and a modern tent might call too much attention to us."
[X] (Senaz's Purchasing Choices) Write-in: Kinky And Useful
[X] (The Order) Stay in for a day or two, door shut. Helen probably won't be much into the delay, though…

So obviously I set the vote start period badly - and given I'm still on my trip, my next post will be a bit delayed.

The ideas are being taken and considered, as well!

It's going to set up a nice contrast before and after they get the new stuff.

And another vote I should've thought of earlier, but didn't because of being out of town...

In the next post, Helen's going to suggest which way to adventure next. Hopefully to find slightly less dangerous encounters. She's taking input this time.

[ ] (Path To Recommend) Could go into the woods to the north. Great place for things to hide. Good odds of getting lost if you're not careful, though.
[ ] (Path to Recommend) Check around the bandit camp you took out last time - and south of it, maybe?
[ ] (Path to Recommend) Head Southeast, along the river. Bound to be stuff to spot that way.
[ ] (Path to Recommend) Head east, along the path. Logically, the most important targets are liable to be that way…

I'm writing some of the lead-in conversation anyways, note. I have removed directions that are not mapped in the adventure or are functionally about similar, intentionally.

To remind, this is the area you've actively traversed so far (reusing an image from previously):

There have to have been messengers, let's see what we can find for trails.

A good place to hold secret rituals if you are a cultist, I think.

Given that the core of the system is now entirely under Creative Commons and the OGL threat is gone for now, I'm not going to try and do a system change for Succubusekai anymore. That said, I do like the flavor of Earthside activities not using Aridiaside rules - see how the post had Senaz rolling Fate Dice.
Sad that I found this too late to suggest the In Nomine d666 system. It doesn't formally meet the license requirement anyway, I don't think, but the original French In Nomine Satanis / Magna Veritas is now available for free. I'm more familiar with the Steve Jackson Games version, but I don't think SJG is particularly litigious.

I'll have to give it a look at some point, though I like the crazydice quite a bit. :3

So, going to be blunt at myself.

Due to a ton of IRL factors, I've hit a particularly nasty bout of writer's block and ensuing panic attacks.

I do wish to return to this quest, but for now must call hiatus for the sake of my mental health for the time being.

Thank you for reading.

Um, Wait, What?
Your name is Senaz, and you have a… Peculiar situation.

Well, like any normally-constituted person, you have a number of situations. You're a Succubus, preternatural manipulator of human lust and desire. You play music and learn tricks and magic through it as a Bard. You can always be the life of any party, even just a board game night. And you were, until recently, a loyal minion of the Demon Lady of Succubi (known to most, including you, only as the Red Queen).

You're also a reincarnation isekai protagonist.

It took you a rock to the forehead to figure this out about yourself, but… You were some boring programmer dude for a shady company until you got hit in the face by a speeding Mack Truck. And then you were reincarnated as Senaz. And the goddess who did it gave you two other wishes, too.

As you've come to realize over the past couple days, your heroism is actually a pretty central part of who you are. It's more than just a little thing you throw into your adventures to spice up your work - rather, it's your central goal. The thing you're stuck working for.

It doesn't bother you as much as you'd think, honestly. Because, while you have spent the last ten years as a loyal dark seductress, gaining the perspective of thirty years of normalcy has reminded you that you care about others' well-being. A lot. You generally try to be nice… Though you will fight back, viciously, if the circumstance calls for it. And yet… and yet, as much as you might rather just drop back to the giggling, gleeful evil of before, you want to fulfill your responsibilities even more.

… Which leaves you groaning, and picking yourself up off the sand you landed on. Pushing down on the wet clumps with your gloved hands.

Wait. Sand?

That can't be right, can it?

You weren't anywhere near a beach earlier. You were in a mountain keep on a borderland. Not a place for sand.

This might not be your world. Not Earth, either. It's… Is it from fucking Another World Online?! You must have fallen asleep playing again.

You're still you, though. Rocking tits, purple outfit, you can feel the charm magic at your breath. You're Senaz, a Succubus Bard. Bard's not directly a class in AWO, though there is Entertainer, so that's a contradiction. Why's that the contradiction that jumps out at you first? Succubus is the first word in the Lazy Character Summary, shouldn't it -

Okay. Breathe. Try the menus. The menus shouldn't open, right?

They open. There's your character sheet. You're first level.

Your equipment loadout is correct, your god entry is glitched out -

Equipment:
[ ] (Equipment) Your hands can sharpen into vicious claws, which play nice with your toughness. (Frontline DPS focus for a mobile glass cannon build.)
[ ] (Equipment) A glaive and chain shirt, for hitting things from almost as far away as you can hit on them. (Backline aggro management, good at counterattack tanking.)
[ ] (Equipment) You've got a sword and board. Avast, large-chested knight! (Hybrid Tanking means you can handle crowds.)
[ ] (Equipment) Your lute's equipped for magic blasts. (Ranged DPS and support..)

You'll also get camping equipment, some rations, and a few consumable healing items.

God:
[X] (God) ┡╀┐ ▅ ▅ (Um… What? I mean, it's gotta be the isekai goddess who gave you these wishes… But her name has to be pronounceable right??? She's not the goddess of Missingnos…)

In addition to the grab bags of powers, your clerical religion naturally also has major story implications.

… And your stats are correct for first level - max Agility and Spirit, dumpstered Strength because Succubus if you are going direct punchy something is wrong - but you and your raid guild weren't first level.

You try to log out so you can send a support ticket.

Emphasis on try.

[ ] (The Important Vote) You're spacing out. Snap back to reality already.
[ ] (The Important Vote) You know, I've seen enough anime that I should have known where this is going…

---

I think my stress levels are finally dropping. So, have a junkpost with particularly unsubtle references while I start working through how to get the adventure back on track.

(Yes, if you vote to continue this, the references will continue.)

(Also, thanks to both Talia and Sunt for their reads on this.)

Welcome back! It's great to see you again.

[X] (The Important Vote) You know, I've seen enough anime that I should have known where this is going…

Well, I don't want to push you to try to keep up the appropriate consistency for the main story while you're still getting back into the swing of writing and figuring out how the story should continue, so let's have something while you're doing that.

[X] (Equipment) You've got a sword and board. Avast, large-chested night! (Hybrid Tanking means you can handle crowds.)

Since I'm not taking this part seriously, let's go with the worst equipment set for someone using Strength as a dump stat.
