Of Winding Ways and Cunning Devices

[X] We should focus upon the craft of which the Dunedain are most renowned and that which we all share seamanship and shipwrighting

The Daring Wanderer might literally be the best boat in the world at this point. Until we find some cause or worthy goal in mind, we should keep sailing.

[X] We should attempt to reach richer lands and greater cities before we make any judgement, haste makes a poor counsel

And so our search for meaning begins lol.

I'm not entirely sure what this option actually means. Can someone explain what this means in terms of concrete future plans?

It means 'be merchants' as opposed to trying to conquer your way to power around these lands.

Well my personal take is that it's the Adventure/Explorer/Trader option. The land option is self explanatory, the wait until we reach the nearest city option is obviously wait for more info.

And the shipwrighting option is basically exploring the world like our ancestors once explored Middle Earth. It's basically a long/medium term wait until something catches our eye and we chnage objectives.

Why the hell should we make a decision in the first small village?

[X] We should claim land and rulership, no worse would we be than the local warlords, hopefully with the benefit of knowing the history that came before us better

CK2 tribal gov time, baby! Decisive action leads us to new paths!

Ngl my ultimate desire is to create a realm in exile earth edition. But I don't really want to do it around this area so it's why I'm going merchant/patience route first

Probably there will be a situation like with the Targaryens.
To know and the ruling house preserves the culture. The rest live their lives.

[X] Using Guldur, Beseech the spirits of the lands and rivers to give information on human activity and or any noteable landmarks that may be important to know about.

I want to use magic

I want to explore this Mysterious Witch Forests of the North more. Probably they contain some magic secrets, do not they? :V

I mean what's the point in having magic if we never use it. Also we literally teleported from a fantasy world to this one. There has to be magic in this world or else we couldn't be here. So yeah I say we sacrifice some animals or do a ritual to gain us some knowledge.

Especially given how the only alternative is equipping manning and engaging in a voyage in unknown waters with only some locals who I don't think have ever gone beyond their village in their lives as guides.

The thing isn't that we can't use it. We had a vote to use it a couple updates ago. The point is that you don't even need magic to communicate with spirits. Because that's not how it works. You don't sacrifice animals to get their attention. If there were any spirits of note Eriol as a wizard with some familiarity of the unseen world/magical would probably notice.

Unless of course his perception of the unseen isn't quite good in which case noticing spirits would be much harder unless they present themselves in physical form.

No offence but you know as much as I do when it comes to what we can and can't do. We are talking in terms of Tolkien magic which was always very vague and left a lot of room for what can and can't be done. Yes animal sacrifice won't call any of the spirits of the world but perhaps it could invoke some of Melkor's discord to twist the world in a way we want. Though I'd say we'd probably need human sacrifice for that. Still I don't see why we can't use our singing magic to maybe talk to birds or something to get a view of the surrounding lands.
