Full Steam Ahead: A Train Designer Quest

Should design phases voting be on a generalized focus or on Specifics

Aight, so my basic thoughts:

We should build our own. Next, we should probably just buy the largest factory from the get-go. There's no reason to worry about funds as we should be getting 10k bloodstones as a personal favor from the General's Daughter come the cheque clearing. As it is a banker's cheque IIRC, the funds are already released, the bank we use is just waiting on confirmation from the other bank. Finally, we have foundry equipment, which is huge early on. Cuts the price of us buying steel by likely a significant margin, and potentially allows us to branch off and make our own steel (as in, different mixes for differing strength).

My vote thus is:

[x] Large Steel Foundry: 1000 Bloodstones
[x] Windrunner Locamotive Works
[x] Create your own locomotive from scratch

Edit: If the large factory does come with Dorms as advertised, we can in fact likely appeal to some individuals by offering board, and perhaps, food and board later on. Might attract some people that we might not normally be able to hire.

I'm worried that the Large Factory will keep us from acquiring the necessary Dosh at a rate that will hinder our forward momentum. It has the highest upkeep of all three of them.

It'd be a challenge but if done right y'all could go far even with this plus you have a good head start on getting decent contract proposals early on, cheaper manpower of decent standards from former servicemen, plus factor in that you won't have to constantly buy in new equipment once you get the foundry running

hmm, those are good points I'm just cautious. I'd just feel a bit safer with a buffer of cash. Though I guess paying more now saves us as we go along and let's us play with some materials. Alright gonna change my vote to big boy factory.

There's nothing wrong with being cautious or taking into account such things like a money buffer there is no wrong approach here at all!

Nah, you and the others are right it'll save money over the long term and give us some good options for later.

The way I see it, there's no optimal choice, just a bunch of pros and cons to work with.

I would like to mention that quite a few of y'all are voting for a typoed name, it's Windrunner Locomotive Works not Locamotive

Shit, I just realized I forgot to vote, but yeah, until we get our construction system ironed out. Modifications are the best place to start, let's just hope no wars start to stop us from importing!
[X] Windrunner Locomotive Works
[X] Medium Factory: 600 bloodstones
[X] Import and modify foreign locomotives

It slipped my mind at the time but I will confirm the Foundry does come with dorms and this can be used to y'all's advantage especially as a synergy with some backgrounds.

Hmmm been thinking on it and decided to vote these.

[X] Large Steel Foundry: 1000 bloodstones
[X] Archangel Machine Works
[X] Create your own locomotive from scratch

Lots of homeless Vets eh? Just a luck trooper helping out her fellows with a job and a bunk.

We could, by chance, call in a few favors with some friends down on their luck after retiring from the military or from cutbacks as well.

Like, Large foundry gives us board for our employees, and that inherently let's us pay them less, because they don't need the extra money for amenities from power or water companies, or for gas - or more accurate to this time, train/carriage tickets - going to and from work. Which, if we manage it right, we can manage a good rapport with our workers rather than just straight working them like a task master.

Which means our employees are less likely to be spies or leave for competitor companies. Probably, at least.

Due to some personal matters and my work rescheduling me I will be extending the vote to Tuesday November 8 at 3 PM CST
