Succubusekai: The Demoness Just Wanted To Stay With Her Friends! [Original-Ish] [Quest]

[X] (PALADIN'S PAST) "... Helen Garland, a Paladin of the Goddess of Solaria who operated across multiple worlds. I was more okay than I should be comfortable with serving… No, that's not right, is it…?" (... Something's deeply, deeply wrong here - things are going to explode later on.)

[X] (PALADIN'S PAST) "... Captain Helen Garland of the Transmission-Five, one of the spacefaring inter-civilizational Compact's ships under the Division of External Diplomacy, traveling the galaxy to meet new civilizations, discover new worlds, and sometimes handle other needs of the various governments that comprise the Compact. A pride of the Fleet, even with only half of the sixteen Duo Frames it's supposed to have! … Hope everyone else survived that encounter with the Tralbeast." (A Star Trek pastiche, except with mecha; influences would also lead to space, but also a heavily diplomacy-centered environment.)

Everything is better with mecha. And Star Trek future optimism fits better with our diplo-mancer build.

Oohh, mystery, can't exactly turn that down can I?

[X] (CANTRIPS)
-[X] Mending
-[X] Mage Hand

Yeah I know Vicious Mockery is a really good cantrip, but insulting people to death doesn't seem like something Senaz would be super into so foing for utility seems like the play.

[X] 1st Spells
-[X] Healing Word
-[X] Sleep
-[X] Dissonant Whispers
-[X] Identify

Healing Word and Sleep are some of the best 1st level spells around, Dissonant Whispers is a great "panic button" spell to help us escape a sticky situation and Identify is something no party wants to be without.

[X] (PALADIN'S PAST) "... Helen Garland, a Paladin of the Goddess of Solaria on a different world. I've fought my share of evils, afouling schemes of the God of Tyranny and Fate, Gargantor, and the Demon Lord Sanctifer." (Medium probability that the quest AFTER the first arc involves figures from Helen's past life.)

[X] 1st Spells
-[X] Faerie Fire
-[X] Sleep
-[X] Identify
-[X] Detect Magic

Succubus abilites make the spell list....interesting, to say the least. We don't need spells like Disguise Self, and Feather fall is arguably unnecessary (if needed it would only be used for others, given Senaz can fly).

For appearances: If I had to say more than something like Morrigan or Verosika Mayday or Nine the Phantom, I would say maybe take some influence from Morgan Le Fay from Fate, the og evil seductress. Purple hair is always fun so that's my vote for hair color.

[X] (PALADIN'S PAST) "... Helen Garland of Earth, alternatively known as the solar superheroine, Sunray, member of the hero team Unity. Fought evil, did good, all of that." (From a comic-book superheroes Earth; used to saving days from supervillains more straightforwardly.)

[X] (CANTRIPS)
-[X] Prestidigitation
-[X] Minor Illusion

I am shocked that someone wouldn't include something like Prestidigitation or Minor Illusion for a Bard's cantrips. Clean, soil, make oatmeal taste like chocolate pudding, etc. The uses are endless. Then minor illusion let's us conjure up any image or sound we want.

[X] 1st Spells
-[X] Faerie Fire
-[X] Sleep
-[X] Unseen Servant
-[X] Detect Magic

For a wisdom 8 character, I think unseen Servant has a lot of potential, such as casting it to carry stuff for an hour, clean up a room, cook food, etc. Put clothes on it to make it look like an invisible opponent or ghost or something.

The violent one sighed. "Okay, if we're not gonna go for round 2, try to get her talking, see if we can get anything I guess. Maybe we can get to fighting lair."

...I don't know if this is sleep deprivation or what, but we honestly have no idea what the bolded sentence is supposed to mean.

More relevantly, loving Senaz's inner voice communications. Very reminiscent of our own inner conversations, actually, which is fun.

"Except for the props. We don't have those. ...we should totally get some of those."

It appears that the general dynamic is that Classy Senaz (representing manipulation and magic) provides direction and restraint to Violent Senaz (representing aggression and combat instincts) and Slutty Senaz (representing sexual desires and short-term fun), but with Hoodie Senaz (representing morality and a questioning attitude) as a new arrival to recontexualize their new internal dynamic. Thus far, then, Classy appears to be the "leader" of sorts, explicitly tempering the others when their skills fail to be useful in the current circumstance. I wonder if perhaps Hoodie's arrival might challenge that implicit hierarchy to some extent. It will be fascinating to find out, regardless.

(A Star Trek pastiche, except with mecha; influences would also lead to space, but also a heavily diplomacy-centered environment.)

Diplomacy is my preferred method of conflict resolution where possible, so naturally I would like this one.

[X] (PALADIN'S PAST) "... Captain Helen Garland of Heromiller Academy! Smooth with a sword and smoother with my words, I learned under great heroines and worked to save and improve lives across my world, protecting the innocent even from my own King." (Captain Garland herself was apparently a heroic musketeer sort; but Heromiller Academy… Well, that name seems off doesn't it? On the bright side, this one may warm up to Senaz faster.)

We need this paladin to like us or things are gonna get very difficult. I'm in favor of this since it's probably the fastest path to a relatively harmonious partnership.

I just like superheroes, what can I say?

...I don't know if this is sleep deprivation or what, but we honestly have no idea what the bolded sentence is supposed to mean.

It means I did the first draft while tired and missed that! Fixed to 'later'.

(THIS TODO WAS PREVIOUSLY IN THE PROLOGUE 2 POST, BUT HAS BEEN REMOVED TO MAKE A SMOOTHER READ)

NEKO'S TODO:
  • Senaz's Aspects - three to five little phrases and ensuing descriptions that can be used for or against her.
  • Determine if I want to give Senaz access to a fly speed (I knew I missed something!!!), or make that an unlockable boon.
  • A good format for listing Senaz's spells and what they can do - the list ideally should be able to include her spell-like abilities.
  • Senaz's appearance - you might notice I've been pretty circumspect on that so far. I'll take ideas here at this point, though I will specify that the ultimate goal is an original (or at least legally-so) appearance and mode of dress. (So not 'just Morrigan Aensland', for example, but an outfit of a somewhat similar flow could be good.)
  • Helen's entire character sheet (which will be defined in no small part by which Helen iteration it is, which would influence her Isekai Wishes greatly). Readers are encouraged to provide ideas, particularly ones specific iterations of Helen might have thought of, or a certain inscrutable goddess might have suggested to Helen.

Not quite ready with my votes yet, but I think it's interesting that the Paladin's former goddess (if we vote her into a goddess-y background) is tagged as likely to be present in this setting as well, despite apparently not being the same person as the Truck Goddess (whom Helen apparently didn't recognize).

Two data points isn't a pattern, at least not yet, but if I was going to extrapolate from them, I'd wonder if our benefactor is deliberately grabbing people with potentially divided loyalties, as some kind of scheme or stratagem aimed against those power blocs as they exist in this world.

The one where things are wrong is of course intriguing and I will be voting for it, but I'm kinda like "Mecha? MechaMechaMecha!" Except I care less for the Star Trek slide things have, give me Gundam plz.

Or magicpunk mecha, magicpunk mecha would be cool.

The goddess who is handling the reincarnations and providing the wishes is NOT one who has been named in Succubusekai, Isekai//Online, A Champion in Earth-Bet, or Mind Control University.

Transmission: Space, hilariously, started in a project for an all-OC Super Robot Wars RP, when I thought going Pre-Gundam tonally for the Ship That Done Carry Everybody would be cool. The two-pilot scheme of the Duo Frames was written on the basis of 'what would look good on a theoretical live-action set'. (The name Duo Frame likely was coined in one of T:S' many sequel series or by that Earth's equivalent of Revell for marketing high-quality models.)

And then the Transmission-IV (notice the number) wound up being captained by a not!Reploid because robot girls are cute and the intended rails just kinda broke.

I understood every word of that and I love all of it.

The only way it could be better is if Reyvateils were involved, but their physics system is pretty strict and doesn't play well with other settings without a heaping dose of handwavium.

WRT guns, you CAN get flintlocks and cannon from Mundus.

"Hmn. I am not Aurora, nor am I Solastra, nor Re-Horakti or Pelor, though in them I have seen kindred spirits: call me Sol, numbered 21st of the Arcana, who knows everything that is true..."

Also as an author, surely you're entitled to use the Gold instead of the Red, and remove all doubt.

Listen I am absolutely here for Conclave Knights for reasons up to and including having played one.

Well that's good news. If the reincarnation goddess isn't any of the other deities we're mentioning here, then my theory of "she's using her reincarnation picks to deliberately screw with one of those gods, and with Senaz's Abyssal bosses, and etc" still stands!

I… 'Teamed up with' a rather unpleasant woman at a dark interdimensional university; thankfully, we broke it." Sure. Those seem entertaining.

(metaphorical) Explosions. And our friend needing emotional support.

Anyway! I'm thinking to avoid any explicit references to a rival goddess for now. If divided loyalties between the isekai goddess and pre-memory Helen's divine patron do arise, I feel like they'll be easier to handle (for Senaz!) if she wasn't loyal to that authority in her old life as well.

And as for spell selection... I've gotta break with the current popular votes, on the basis of prioritizing stuff that actually uses our bonkers +6 primary spellcasting bonus. I'll keep Faerie Fire from the popular list, but add Healing Word (whose % difference from Cure Wounds is almost negligible at our level with a +6 bonus on it) and Dissonant Whispers (as a "just in case" get-off-me attack spell which will be hard to resist at DC 16). I'd also suggest Speak with Animals, because it expands the applicability of our superior social-fu. If anyone can successfully "persuade a beast to perform a small favor", it's our gal Senaz.

I see mecha, I vote mecha.

I am a simple soul.

VERY long. I'm also worrying that I made a bad choice offering that option for a few reasons. Kinda regretting putting it in honestly after several days of hindsight.
