Age of Ice and Blood: A Pathfinder System Heroic Fantasy Quest

So, four days have passed since the Elementals attacked. Esha could have restored four charges to her staff in that time. How many does it currently have, @DragonParadox?

If we do try to contact Lina, how would we go about doing that?

If this is all part of Lina's plan I would vote to murder her and be done with this.

How many men died for this?

  1. She is still two short of max charges
  2. You could send a message one of two ways, either you use random dolphins or you use Ripper. Either way you need to send your messenger out to someone who is linked to the Formless

So if we did go for the rescue option, who should we include in the group?

Roland would be a default choice, IMO, as would Inge for healing and guidance. Esha is another solid pick, since her spells will work unimpeded underwater and she can hit pretty hard.

Zaia's abilities are not particularly useful underwater, so he should stay aboard Marcella.

Tom would be a good choice, but I would rather leave him in command of our men aboard Marcella in our absence.

Wanderer doesn't get much screen time, but he's a powerful melee combatant despite his lower level.

Silver is another strong melee combatant, not to mention that his speed should still be faster than normal when affected by Touch of the Sea.

Swift Pebble is low level and unlikely to be particularly helpful for combat, but she is a natural swimmer and wouldn't need a Touch of the Sea spell to get by underwater just fine. Her telepathy would facilitate underwater communication, too.
I am wary of this rescue mission... :(
Me, too. Not only is there the danger of an underwater encounter (I hate water levels...), I still don't trust some of the Anwari not to try to pull something stupid in our absence.

Inge is necessary, to cast Touch of the Sea before any combat, or our melee-combatants will be too immobile.
Also she alone knows the was.

So her, Roland, Esha, Wanderer and Pepple would be my choice.

Tom as our second in command can stay and keep the men calm (in case we are going to be down for an unexpectedly long time) and he could defend the Marcella if shit does go wrong.

Why wanderer instead of Silver?
There are advantages to both, but Silver has a couple disadvantages, namely his larger size and lack of thumbs. Since we don't really know the situation we're going into, Silver may end up being completely unable to help if the seascape isn't cooperative.
Because aquatic terrain causes terrible reductions to slashing and bludgeoning damage.
Wanderer and Roland can use a spear if need be, Silver can't make hooves into a different kind of weapon.
There is that, too. Also, Roland could arguably use Durendal as a piercing weapon.

My call is that she is forcing us to rescue Ohun to rescue her. We didn't want to gain the enmity of the Formless, well, too bad.

I don't want to deal with her any more
I'd propably guess that these are more likely to be Fey than Formless.
Using Elementals seems more fitting to them, than to the Proteans.

They might have kidnapped Ohun as some part of their revenge for Lina going to their foes for protection, or to force him to get her back?

Proteans can use any kind of servant. They are chaotic enough for certain

Possibly?

But still, why would Lina try to get the Formless to attack our fleet and abduct Ohun as part of some elaborate fake-rescue scheme?
Without our cooperation it wouldn't work anyway, and we already declined that.
She'd have to be extremly stupid to assume that we changed our mind because she tricked us and murdered a few dozen people.

She did not look that stupid so far.

It could be the Formless, but if they have the kind of juice to send a swarm of CR 5 Air Elementals against the fleet, they wouldn't need our help to place Lina on the throne of Lirman, and if Lina could manage that herself, she really wouldn't need our help. The effort expended is just way out of bounds for what they could accomplish much more easily through less cumbersome means (i.e. infiltration via shapeshifting).

If this is an Oceanid plot, they must want to talk to us or someone among the fleet, if only because they were relatively merciful, where they could have easily done much worse than send the Elementals. Hopefully, that bodes well for us being able to avoid combat in an underwater environment against native creatures who basically own their surroundings.

I thought we should bring some Anwa with us, so they don't feel as slighted?
We can only bring five, though, and that doesn't leave a lot of room for tagalongs. If we subbed out Wanderer, we could fit one Anwari in the group, but who would it be? Then we have to select someone who may or may not actually be useful, who may or may not panic at the first bit of underwater combat or inhuman creature they sea, who might be more interested in Ohun not returning at all, etc. These aren't our people, we don't know them all that well, and I don't know about ya'll, but I don't trust them.

We need Swift Pebble not only because she is a perfect solution to the communication problem we'll have underwater, but she also has no need for a Touch of the Sea spell to be completely mobile underwater. Inge only has so many spell slots, and we're going to be dedicating at least four 1st level spells just to having full mobility for 4 minutes each, if/when combat breaks out. Having to cast it a fifth time for another group member would be rough, since Inge is going to need to cast Mage Armor on herself and probably at least one other person, leaving her with only one or two 1st level spells and a maximum of four 2nd level spells.

Fair enough.

I still wary of rescue mission, but if our main battle plan specialist thinks that this is doable... Oh...

[X] Goldfish

@Goldfish , I assume that joining of Ripper is automatic?
