Age of Ice and Blood: A Pathfinder System Heroic Fantasy Quest

We need to talk with Inge to get her settled a bit to make sure she doesn't bite off more than she can chew.

The issue with Tom and our other men has been a long time coming, too. Returning to Verley isn't likely to ever happen, so we need to hash out how we want to keep going forward. They are sworn to Roland, but it's different when they don't really have a land to return to. If we pay them and do right by them, though, they should stick with us until that changes and we can put down roots somewhere, even if that just means purchasing a property in a prosperous port somewhere to serve as our base of operations.

We agreed to bring the Otter-kin back to Willowbrook before we left with them. We can stop there on the way back to drop them off, but we need to determine if Swift Pebble or any of her fellows wish to continue traveling with us. And if they don't, there might be others from Willowbrook who want to come south since they saw us return with the first batch that traveled with us.

[X] Inge, the girl has been showing more and more reckless courage these past few weeks and while you are proud of her you worry just the same

[X] Tom, over the past season he has grown to be more than just the head of your men at arms, yet both of you act around the other as though you were still on a journey with Verley and its fields at the end. The men follow you by their vows, perhaps it is time to establish more formal pay

[X] Pebble in Swift Rushing Waters, or Swift Pebble for short, the otter-kin you unwittingly dragged into a battle. You could certainly use more of her help as an interpreter, if she is willing to give it

Present Resources
The Marcella
(Eastern Mediterranean Galley 121 ft length 21 ft width 130 Metric tons of Cargo)
- Property of Captain Antonio

Crew: 68 Sailors not counting the captain
  • 8 Armed with short bows
  • 60 armed with a variety of melee weapons
Minimum safe operating crew for the ship: 20

Rare Trade Goods
  • Fine Pottery
  • Glassware
  • Oil
  • Copper
Minor note, but we might want to write down that we sold it for tin.

Also that we have this thin gold-foil from the dragon's lair, which we might want to sell back on the islands.

The spellbook keeps paying for itself with spells for Esha and propably Zaia too, soon.

One of our best pieces of loot so far.
Yeah, that's the loot that just keeps on giving. Hopefully she'll decipher the Shield or Magic Missile spell from it soon so she'll be able to recharge her new staff once she starts using it.

Also that we lost 3 sailors from the Marcella, @DragonParadox, and four from the Penitenza. Can you also add the info for our longship, dimensions and crew number if possible?

[X] Esha, now that she has a weapon she has expressed interest in sparring with you, though making use of weapon and spell alike so that she might make a good showing

[X] Wanderer, see what he thinks of your service so far and do your best to get him some better equipment and training in it

Unfortunately she only has three more level 1 spells on there and neither of those are on there.
Oh well, we'll make do. Worst case, it can be one of the spells she learn when she reaches 4th level. How's that coming?
Winter's Grasp

...

Sailors tie themselves with lifelines to hold fast against the tempest, and at times find ropes where there had been none before, none question their good fortune. As you rush across the wildly tilting deck to save a crate of fresh supplies which had been affixed there so as to make more room for trade goods in the hold you feel one of those same ropes slither past your foot like a serpent and cling fast to your ankle.

...

Dawn finds a ragged crew three sailors short of what it had been the night before, though the ship is eerily unharmed, snapped rope and torn sail all mended. According to Antonio there wasn't any water in the bilges, which is a thing unheard of after a storm of such fury.
BTW, I'm loving all the little and not so little things Marcella is able to do to help her crew and set herself apart from muggle boats. :)

@DragonParadox, now that Zaia is a legit Alchemist and he and Inge have access to that awesome new cauldron, can they start working on some Alchemical staples along with regular potions. Tanglefoot Bags, Thunderstones, Smokesticks, Alchemist's Fire, etc., plus helpful stuff like Antitoxin and Antiplague?

On a separate but related note, it would be really fun to see Zaia surprise Antonio and the rest of the crew by preparing four Tears to Wine extracts then using all of them to turn a barrel containing 30 gallons of seawater into decent wine or mead, and not just any wine or mead, but stuff that sharpens the wits rather than dulling them. That would be one hell of a way for Zaia to show the world he isn't a muggle any longer. :cool2:

Seeing that the Marcella did lose some of the crew, I'm half expecting the living ship to eventually mutate to have a contingency for that next time. It's probably frightening too. You're dragged overboard and then a tentacle from the ship drags you back in while being assured of your safety by the voice of a girl.

He can yes, and that sort of thing will happen soon. Should be fun. :)

Storm is more harmful to us than anjo-oru conspiracy. Mother Nature does not kidding.

As for vote... too many options, too little time :(

I agree with Goldfish, this is a must. We have to care about our men.

[ ] Moru, tell him of the lady you saw in a dream in Oromo of the Hundred Towers and ask for his judgement if this is the hand of the same evil that infected Ulf.

This is a threat and an opportunity to mend what we broke.

...wait. @DragonParadox , we do not have opportunity to interact with Watcher/Tender, do we?

Well, in this case...
[X] Pebble in Swift Rushing Waters, or Swift Pebble for short, the otter-kin you unwittingly dragged into a battle. You could certainly use more os her help as an interpreter, if she is willing to give it

P.S. Change my vote.

[X] Warn others and talk things out.
-[X] Invite everybody of note and knowledge, Antonio, Zaia, Inge, Esha, Tender, Moru, Ziku, Silver if possible.
-[X] There are some things you should know, if you don't know already. And if you have any thoughts on all of this, please share.
-[X] We are being targeted, and by associating with us you can be targeted too, so be aware.
--[X] Some group, "secret, in woven shadows hidden true", as the fey's spirit we questioned in a temple of Ikomi, put it, promised rewards to fey on Lirman to hunt us when we've arrived on the Island.
--[X] We were targeted by the invisible foe while sailing from Orinulu, and later we managed to receive a divination that this foe was man in black guise and black of heart, a killer though he did not come to kill, who was here at the behest of another, one who means ill not just to this ship and all upon it but to the world entire.
--[X] After the battle with the dragon we vanquished, somebody sicced a band of Knikut on us, somebody powerful enough to have means to contact them from afar.
-[X] There are worrying global developments we are aware of.
--[X] During our clash with Neverborn on Korman we received warnings from Luaza, foremost Ikomi priestess of Anwa and the grandmother of the king of Korman, against the coming peril, the great storm rippling veil between worlds and driving shadows before it, bringing dark times ahead, only likely to grow darker before the light comes out of the east.
--[X] She told us that two and a half seasons ago, at the start of the year, something very wrong happened, something from beyond the borders of this world broke in, something that breaks that which is held sacred, vows of fellowship and faith, tangling the threads of fate to its own ends and binding in that net souls great and small.
--[X] Just as the king, Luaza was killed by the treachery of the Neverborn, and we couldn't get further to the heart of the matter with her.
--[X] We also received information about worrying developments in Oromo of the Thousand Towers, which may be connected to the Neverborn troubles we see everywhere, on Korman, in the White Lands and in people like Ulk.
-[X] After the battle with the dreaming dragon it prophesized ruin for us, and it didn't look like it was just spiteful cursing of the dying foe.
-[X] Can this all be connected, in part or in full?
-[X] If Moru and Ziku are interested in the dragon, show them the dead egg, the golden sheet and tell them of our investigation in the Willowbrook.

@DragonParadox, several questions if you don't mind answering them.

1. Just checking, we are going to swing by Willowbrook, to get fresh supplies and possibly return some of the otter-kin, like we promised, or maybe take new ones?
Then we would go north and then come back south with you when the time comes, if you would have us?

2. When will we be able to decide next bunch of long-term actions? Asking because of the possible Inge seagull colony taming action.

3. I would like to tell all PCs with us, including Moru, Ziku, Tender and everybody from the character sheets post, whom we hadn't already told to, some of the info we have on the global situation, which is a) what we've heard from Luaza of Korman on bad times ahead and bad things that happened at the start of the year, b) what we've got from the divination, about someone powerful threatening the world entire, c) that we are targeted, started being targeted on our first arrival on Lirman and are targeted by this someone powerful.

Justification is because they are all alright people, and should know that by associating with us they can be targeted too, and we should give them the heads up on possible bad things in the future.

I am also interested in anything they might have to say on this matter we don't know, in particular Moru as he is a seer.

Is it a social vote? Or some other vote with social as a prerequisite? Can we at least just tell them to warn them without receiving anything in return without a vote?

  1. You are stopping by yes, the social action is a chance to talk to one of the otters before you reach the hall
  2. When you get back to Apuku you will have the chance to do some more long term actions, it is otherwise hard to make changes to the ship on the move
  3. That you would have to vote on, some of that information is sensitive, especially the divination which as far as you know one one outside you and your companions has heard.

By the way, I'd like to start working in our armory. We need to replace our spearmen by halberdiers, and see about getting a Bill or something for when we can use Reach. Also, retrain spear focus to polearm focus, because of the versatility.

Are the tin ingots incorporated in our inventory?

Meaning it has to be a write-in which would take a place of one of three possible social actions on the journey back to Apuku?

You can do it as a write in and yes it would take the place of one of the options since it would take me a comparable time to write it up. I am trying not to let social actions eat up too many updates and that means limiting the number a bit.

I've continued to work on chronology.

It is the second day of the festival, the Day of Rule, honoring the second brother and in this day and in his hour a princess of Korman comes to speak to you about rule sundered and perhaps rule new come to the world.
But it is the third day of festival. On the first day (Day of Glory) we assessed magical axe and talked with crying Inge. On the second day, Day of Lordship, we faced trial of Olweje:
Day of Lordship Year 1348 A. L. (After Landfall)

You wake the next morning to the sight of smiling faces, men eager to 'show these sons of bitches what Norman Steel can do'

I hope you did not mind those corrections I found during re-reading?
