    • The robed figure threw their hood back, revealing a gray face and elongated, pointed ears, dark red eyes, and a wicked, sallow countenance. Something about his features in the dimness was just faintly familiar - but distance and the fangs make it hard to really nail it down. More importantly...

    Fuck him.

    The red emergency lights begin to wink and flicker. The flames in the torches to either side of the altar flicker and dance - then roar a bright orange-white, flaring brighter and brighter as you step forward into the room. Even the zombies turn their lifeless eyes to you, and in the clear light, you can see there are slightly less of them than you expect. Still, the robed figure gapes at you, then snarls.

    "You're the one..." he says, quietly. "The one she's protecting - the one I couldn't grab."

    "Hey, Merc!" Gloria says, managing to finally spit her gag out. "Kill this motherfucker!"

    "Ah, that's the name of the child..." the robed figure says, grinning. "Funny. The documentation that I had access too was positive that it had died after the deaths of Paxton Fettel, Alexander Wade and Jin Sun-Kwon. Interesting."

    You consider.

    Whatever the guy's talking about - you recognize some of those names - seems tied to your own past. Did he know your birth parents? Had he been looking for you? Did he know the relation between you and Alma Wade? You could see, around him, a hazy kind of...aura. Somehow, it imparts into your mind a sense, an awareness. He wants you alive. More than he wants to use Gloria's blood and heart and beating soul to power whatever the fuck he's doing here. You have a bargaining chip and he has answers...but...you can also tell.

    You can't trust him.

    ...no shit.

    You hesitated, and the flickering flames that were the precursor to your psychic rage dimmed - if only for a moment.

    It wasn't exactly obvious? We're seeing Alma, the gal in question was starting to seep into the water before FEAR 1, and after the nuke, odds are she's still alive.

    Seriously, Alma DGAF. The fact she hasn't shown up is probably still weak from the nuke.

    To be fair, I assumed Merc was just some random person and Pointman was still caring for littlest Wade
     
    19 Danger, Jesus Christ. I mean, most of that is the zombies but if the vampire isn't a 4-hit elite I'll be amazed.

    - Vent 4 Heat and hit the Vampire.

    We have an SMG that does splash damage. We can thin the herd pretty efficiently without power use, but PK will probably help a lot hitting the vamp himself - I expect he'll have Evasion.

    (Technically, we ought to shoot first and do the power usage on our actual turn to maximize our action efficiency. But eh, this is dramatic and PKV is Speedy so it won't make too much difference.)
     
    I don't know whether it's good or bad that Merc is leaning into PKV as her modus operandi for combat. Regardless, I'm for it.
