So, this means that Grandma is not that witch?
Mostly comes to mind by the fact that the HG Witch is mostly themed with candy in the middle of the woods and most of the media I can remember and seen has Mrs. Claus being the one responsible for holiday candies.

Ugh...! I really want to go on and attempt to rescue Weiss, but I also want to help Ren and Nora, but Pyrrah's adventure made me interested in meeting Lionheart and making him man-up to Salem's threats, and also because feels!
I have interest in Nana Schnee, but it's kind 'eh' compared to the rest, and I personally don't have any interest in striking on our own.
About the allies... I would go for either the mercs or just Pyrrah; We still have a -30 (-25 due to Weiss' scarf) in our social stuff, and I don't want to risk it.

Idea that came to mind was that Grandma was both things.
In the aspect that she first was Mrs. Claus but then she lost her husband and like what happened to Salem after losing Oz; Mrs. Claus snapped and became the HG Witch.

To recover artifacts from the village, and the bodies of those who were lost. They were promising payment once the mission was over… but you knew that they were broke. So why would they risk it on a damned village Expedition?

I don't think whitley, or whitley and Pyrrha, can save wiess as they are now. I'd like to help Ren and Nora and add them to our list of allies and we can save weiss if the other parties fail to.

Hazel Rainart and his dead sister Gretchen were allusions to Hansel and Gretel, and they were both training to be Hunters so I suppose you could consider Salem to be the wicth of their story, especially with a certain spoiler event in Volume 8.

You hope she will not be too surprised with you showing up on her doorstep to ask for some help... the problem is, you need to get to her mansion. In the middle of a Grimm-infested wilderness. Wonderful.

We need adult help and Nana Schnee is the only one we could trust to not stab us in the back later. She probably have a lot of favors to call on. Pyrrha is chosen cause the more we inconvenience Leo the better and we may need someone capable to defend us incase there is a lot more Grimm than we can handle.

I'm really torn by these options. I really want to recruit Ren and Nora, as they are a lot of fun, would be useful in future ventures for Whitley which require combat -trained muscle, and also because Whitley needs friends, especially Ren who can tell him what a functional family is like and be one with him.
On the other hand Whitley is really close to Weiss, as shown by his reaction to the announcement of her being taken hostage by the White Fang shows. Also the fact that, when given the opportunity to take a million Lien or a copy of the family archives, Whitley chose to take the scarf that Weiss have made herself specifically for him, emphasises just how importantly he regards it and how highly he values something that reminds him of Weiss. With that in mind I can really see him wanting to charge in and rescue Weiss straight away.
On yet another hand the announcement mentioned that Weiss would be held until the White Fang's demands were met, so Whitley might think we've got some time to work with.

Also, Whitley knows they are broke but something has brought them to Whitley's attention - do we know how powerful they are? If so, could we make them a counter-offer - they help us rescue Weiss, and then we will accompany them to Kuroyuri to recover the bodies and artifacts?

Ren and Nora will be going to Kuroyiri with or without you for their adventures.
Just because you adventure, does not mean others will wait. They have their own stories to write.
Just a reminder that Magoose said that if we choose the Sanctum option we will get Pyrrha as part of that choice.
