I think starting with +Prowess (or preferably ++Prowess) is wise. It feels like essence can be gotten through opportunities, but surely only experience and training will increase our prowess.

If there's any place you want to bond with beasts, it's probably here. Also cool rad sea folk, which appeals aesthetically!

[X] Plan Dragonriders of Ymaryn!

Sad people aren't voting for the dragons. I mean, dragons. Why wouldn't you vote for them? Better yet, you can ride the dragons!

Plan Dragonriders with Essence Springs:

[X] [Terr] Cave Dwellers of the High Mountains
[X] [Tech] Beast Binding
[X] [Cha] Ferocious Beasts
[X] [Adv] Essence Spring (+Essence, +Food)

The springs neutralize the food penalty from the mountains, and give us the essence boost that hopefully will make dragon taming more achievable.

I can find no flaw with Enthusiast#117's reasoning. Here be dragons is clearly the best choice.

...Edit: But I'll also add an approval vote for the existing dragonriders plan, I guess? Might as well.

Per word of AN, Essence makes stuff more magical, but also more dangerous. Control of essence means we would have innate control of some magical element of the region, which would be less about easing the restrictions, and more about making the tamed beasts more exotic as a baseline, as far as my understanding goes.

But this would be nice to have information on directly, @Academia Nut

Like, Dragon Taming is hard, but if you have more Essence then you can do stuff like have a higher chance of hatching and raising a dragon from an egg because you have the resources to raise it. Stuff like that.

How does essence interact with other things, anyway? From best guess, it's basically a measure of how high-tier our Resource access is; like with an RPG, instead of [iron] we have access to [mithril], or instead of [linen] we have access to [magic silk], but ultimately our surplus of these exotic goods is still based on the +Resource amount?

There is an interaction, yes. To get the best materials you need Resources + Essence, but there are different ways to go about that. Maybe you find the raw ores in naturally high essence areas, maybe you take base ores and process them in a high essence reactor. Maybe a place has lots of exotic materials but you can't usefully access them because they are bound up in something you can't work with (High Essence, Low Resources).

I mean, to be fair, you can vote for a plan and add in whatever option you like the most as well, pretty sure that AN is going to do the vote by line. Plan vote just makes it more complicated easier to vote.

Incidentally adding the pirate vote to mine because anything is better than living in corpse, with the lowest organisation and no resources, in a Quest that has a body horror tag written by AN. :p
