Oh yes, Praxis time.

[X] Freedom
It might be the underdog, but I want my comfy empire building, damn it!
[X] The Geas of Indenture
Empire building, we get lots of leeway on this one. Though it being deadly is new, isn't it? Still, we get absurd amounts of time and since we're a combat type and not a progression type the threats won't scale up nearly as much.
[X] Doom of the Tyrant
Overwhelming might shall get us what we need!
[X] The Sword That Ends The World - Accursed blade.
Comfy nation building and adventuring means lots of time to actually figure this one out!

Also, I can't approve of not getting Vengeance. You are literally giving up at the start. You now know that there are high forces that fucked you and yours up and instead of doing anything about it, you just fuck off to play around in your little sandbox.

Row row fight the power. Only real way to win a quest is to find and defeat the ultimate mega final boss. We did that with Kong, we will do that with these motherfuckers as well.
The situation here and the one with Kong is much different. There we had no choice but to do it. Here we have a choice. Fuck ourselves for eternity to fuck up the higher power that did it or get enough power to live for eternity well without giving a fuck about them and not getting burdened by the curses we had to take.

Rihaku, why must you make the Vengeance option so cool!? I was all ready to argue to about moving on stuff, but I can't resist it!

Though hm, the Plenary Brand not only promises interesting character-interactions as a Combat-type, we dodge the bullet of its eventual growth over the course of our Progression! The freedom to wander the omniverse, not merely being towed from conflict to conflict, forever echoing the world of our birth. For one such as our intrepid hero, the Geas of Indenture's a bitter pill indeed. 'History may not repeat itself, but it often rhymes.' We'd be stuck in a perpetual poetry competition.

Then again, those are exactly the threads we'd want to pull in investing the true authors of our tragedy. There's something going on there, too many quests that have featured summoned heroes of one stripe or another in this overarching continuity.

I'm sorry I can't hear you over MAXIMUM STAKES and FIGHTING THE ULTIMATE EVIL. Spark in the dark, rage against the machine, let the justice be done though the heavens may fall etc all that good stuff

Also, you've just been told that there is a hidden super boss. How is your first instinct not to challenge it?

Theoretically, the Plenary Brand doesn't have solely negative effects. Anyone in dire need of allies will also be very clear about our power/potential too, not just our enemies. Still awful, but I don't think there can be a combination of four Major Curses that isn't.

Because I don't really care about the maximum stakes and fighting the ultimate evil. Especially not when it will cost our character his/her rest of his life. Plus, Hidden Super Bosses are fun and well but I still didn't do Genocide Route in Undertale and I don't want to fuck our protagonist up to raise the stakes here.

Some people don't treat life as a game that you want to get 100% completion on? Our MC has done enough heroing, let him have a vacation.

God, I missed build votes. Just reading all the shinies on display makes me all giddy!

Okay, now onto more useful commentary. Someone or something shattered fate and made the job harder for the hero, huh? Do I sense a connection to previous quests? Also, I admit I am very tempted by the Combat Type cursebearer, even if it means less ramping up and less build votes. Some comfy empire building/waifuing sounds fun, and it is what the poor hero was denied. Let him build his dream of a true democracy!

Freedom's great, it's even one of the ideals he was fighting for! He can work on realizing his dream immediately instead of carrying endless baggage from his past life

Also the card you get can be a specific power up that if likely to be useful after the event as well.

I wouldn't rely overmuch on that, unless you qualify for an active True Wish!
Oh man. If I was choosing for myself, I would go with Regalia. It's so versatile!

However, we're choosing for someone here. Someone who's failed, who has been forced to embrace dark powers, who has suffered and sacrificed in order to achieve victory. I feel like our MC would really appreciate the Praxis, with its guarantee that effort and sacrifice will be rewarded, and that one's power will never be lost.

...I'm not a fan of Vengeance though. I prefer freedom, and I think the Accursed approves of it more too judging by his reactions.

Regalia's great, strong with either Cursebearer type and you get more companions!

Damn it. I know we should choose Freedom for a less fast-paced scenario, but no matter what the Accursed prefers...

There was never any other choice, was there?

[X] Vengeance

The Primary Remittance is also a pretty obvious choice given how much salt was produced over not picking it or its variants at previous opportunities.

[X] The Sword That Ends The World

[X] The Geas of Indenture
[X] The Apocryphal Curse

Now the Curses are unsurprisingly tricky. The Vengeance choice necessitates the Geas and Apocryphal Curse. And I know the latter should be just as awful as any others, but... may you live in interesting times? Guess we'll never truly know peace then - even the brief reprieve granted by completing Geas's tasks would just make things more difficult later.

As for the additional Curses, I don't think any of the 'evil' ones fit the MC well. Maybe he's a shadow of his former self, but he did do his utmost to defeat that Dark Lord, and that means something.

So no Decimation for me here. Probably no Tyrant either, lest he turns into something he despised, though it's not a certainty. Slumber is a very bad fit for the Geas too, though I won't rule out the option. The Planetary Brand is just terrible - putting a neon sign over us telling everyone just how dangerous we are? Might as well quit immediately, as we'd need time to come into our own.

But, hmm. I get the feeling if I continue going down that list, whatever little is left of it, I'll be left with nothing. Curses, what can I say? And if we're going to travel the multiverse crashing the party whenever we arrive, might as well do it in style?

[X] Doom of the Tyrant
[X] Plenary Brand

This way we make it very clear just what we're all about. May everyone live in interesting times.
With regards to the Praxis, I'll say this -
It's most suitable for those who are exceptionally capable of hard work and willing to spend selfhood for power. Granted the hero is quite good at this, but his past experiences in that very vein have left him a broken shadow of a man. Is that really the well he would return to when given an actual choice?

Also, it may be excessively greedy to take the potential-only Sword choice as a Progression type. Especially with the Geas and Apocryphal Curse both. Much, much safer to take Sword as a combat-type, as you'd start with a notable degree of proficiency.

You can make your power/potential clear without blaring it out to every single being in existence on top of constantly rubbing how much of a threat you are to every ally you have. It also sucks absolute dick if you are Progression based, as it directly impacts your ability to scale vs opposition as they will be absolutely decisive in their attempts to curtail you.

Curse be Curse, p much.

I don't think the possibilities of us refusing either Vengeance or Praxis are very great.

[ ] Plenary Brand - Like a blazing sun, the radiance of your power is wholly unconstrained, and the shadow of your potential looms perilously, a pall over reality that is impossible to ignore. The truth of your essential nature is broadcast without concealment or pretext. Even if it would normally do so, this effect will not cause others to like you more.

You automatically attract the attention of everyone who perceives you, and your rough capabilities are made apparent to them, to whatever degree they can reasonably comprehend. Disguise is impossible, your nature is blindingly obvious, and enemies so informed of your abilities will act accordingly. Snip Progression-types in the bud with overwhelming strength, retreat and attempt to outscale Combat-types, etc. One of a Cursebearer's greatest strengths is the ability to grow in power undetected by the mighty; anonymity is very often the greatest defense. With this Curse, enemies will never overlook or forget the severity of the threat you pose. Even ostensible allies will likely foment contingency plans.

The Plenary Brand overpowers any forms of stealth or misdirection you might attempt. Furthermore, in any situation where it is remotely reasonable to do so, all enemies will focus their efforts on defeating you first.

Unlike most Curses, the strength of this Brand slowly increases with time. Unless efforts are paid towards mitigation, your mere existence will eventually sear ten billion impressions of yourself into the minds of your allies, rendering them comatose, while your enemies become monomaniacally determined to end you.
If the Accursed has this curse then why doesn't everybody everywhere know about him?

The Plenary Brand is what makes people shit enough bricks to construct an oven upon meeting the Accursed. Even if it can't make people like us more (though I would contend that's what mitigation is for), it still makes for some fun character moments. Much worse for a Progression-type, though, since early shankings are incentivized.

It's heavily mitigated, I assume. We still see the effects whenever he shows up.

[ ] The Regalia - A crown and throne of stars.
[ ] The King's Scepter - Power, plain and simple.
... Why.
I barely got into the quest, and yet... I already see a trap.
For our hero is a champion of DEMOCRACY.
To take the symbols of a hereditary ruler?
To take the mantle of a Tyrant?
NEVER!

Unless, well...
I suppose England has a queen, and yet remains a democracy.
And conquering a world, only to tell it to pull it's head out of it's ass, and make some fair elections?
... Okay yeah, I honestly would like this hero to visit my country.
Even with Decimator's Affliction, it would be worth it- my life force is sapped by political news every day, after all...

On another note, does the Accursed suffer under a Curse that forces everyone he meets to ask him whether he's the Devil?
I'd attribute it to the Brand, but the similarities are too great.

Personally, I'd prefer to swap out Tyrant for Martyr, but that's sadly not an option.

Hey, new Rihaku quest! Still saltyby the lack of Logos, though.

[X] The Sword That (Actually) Ends The World

Maximum greed, maximum progression.

The curses actively encourage the protagonist to work as hard as he can towards his goal, since taking too long would cause harm to the world, on top of that, we can't rely on others to do stuff, unless they are under our command, and to have people under our command, we need to work hard...

The biggest problem is the whole survival part. But it's a secondary concern compared to the glory of Praxis.
