Come on 20!
Well, its almost 20!
Well, its almost 20!
You make it sound like any world that Humanity and their Pokemon allies colonize aren't going to be considered Death Worlds, particularly given [REDACTED].So working off of the assumption that the canon mass effect races are pretty much unchanged and considering which planet we live on, I look forward to seeing just the sheer disbelief that the Citadel Races are going to have when they encounter humanity.
I mean ignoring the various pieces of technology such as the alternative to mass relays, functional teleportation technology and things like actual functioning psychics (which we just know are going to be mistaken for biotics at first) there is the simple fact that from an outside perspective without an understanding of the details (So basically the first contact force, especially if it turns out like what happened in canon) will look like some kind of Death World.
Of course once the initial shock wears off I look forward to the inevitable instance of things like Krogan coming to Human worlds in order to do things like engage in boxing matches of Machamps or the inevitable attempts by various Salarian biologists to weaponize pokemon or something.
Although on a side note @Lunaryon might I ask if there is any particular reason why it seems a lot of trainers specialize in a single type of Pokemon and if we might get any benefit from doing so? Also love the codex's.

As for trainers and specialization, the reason tends to be three fold -
First, and simplest is that Pokemon of particular types, along with those that are Phenotypically similar tend to react in similar ways, and thus are trained in similar ways.
Secondly, there are some trainers who end up unintentionally specializing due to... let's be kind and call it skill limitations. People who don't have the skills or physical capabilities to travel far have a tendency to pick up a lot of similar kinds of Pokemon. If you don't have the skill to cross a volcano, but keep at it likely end up catching Fire Pokemon in the area as they attempt to grow stronger.
Lastly, there is a phenomenon that... It may or may not be a thing. It may be that those humans who tend to stick to a single type seem to pick up traits of their chosen type, or it may be that having those traits helps in catching Pokemon of that type. People who seem to have a lot of Psychic pokemon seem to be more likely to develop psychic abilities... Or perhaps their potential psychic abilities are what gave them to edge needed to catch them? Trainers who focus on Ice Pokemon seem to have a higher resistance to temperature differentials, one notable example was Lorelei, a former member of the Kanto Elite Four, who developed a tendency to swim alongside her pokemon. In their natural habitats, some of which included waters that were below 0 degrees.
Even to this day, that last point is hotly debated among scientists.
As for Magikarp, I'm not sure if it is info that Lockstin missed, or if it is more recently revealed info, but the average Magikarp can leap roughly 7 feet into the air.
Have you seen Black Belt trainers? They fit pretty well.I'm just imagining a Trainer with a lot of Fighting-type (pure or mixed) who's basically Ryu or Ken.
I haven't played Pokemon, at least for any length of time, for longer than some of you have been alive, lol.

Pokemon Ranger Unions |
Culture | Pokemon |
There exist thousands of different jobs that exist upon the many worlds that humans have colonized, from things as simple as laborers to those as complex and the engineers that construct the Distortion Gates that allow our society to exist, however there are few that are as dangerous, or as rewarding as the Pokemon Rangers. Officially the Pokemon Ranger Unions are owned and operated by Silph Co, however such a statement gives a very skewed understanding of the nature of the Pokemon Rangers. The more truthful explanation would be to state that the Unions which train and license Rangers are owned and operated by Silph Co, however the Rangers themselves are individual operators with the authority to travel and act as they see fit so long as it is within the scope of their professional purview. The Pokemon Rangers exist for threefold such purviews. First and foremost, the Rangers exist to act as environmental advocates, human actors in the cause of protecting the environments of worlds, and the wild Pokemon that live within these environs. Secondly, Pokemon Rangers are able to be hired to act as adjuncts and other leadership positions for Terraforming Activities, using their skills to lead multiple Pokemon who thusly work together to create planetary scale environmental changes to worlds that have the capacity to sustain life, but whose environments are currently unable to do so. Lastly, Pokemon Rangers are further stationed on colonized planets as a form of guerilla militia in times of crisis, particularly crises which are caused by Pokemon whose habitats are destroyed, and are thusly fulfilling a tendency to Rampage.1 |
1Blue, I do not know who you aqcuired this particular Codex Entry from, but it is going to need a lot of reworking before I allow this thing into any device that is going to have my name on it, or more importantly, your family name on it. While none of the information is factually wrong, it is worded horribly and there are several implications made that are factually incorrect. Fix it.- Green Oak nee Ketchum |

Pokemon Rangers |
Culture | Pokemon |
Pokemon are a fundamental part of life, existing within each layer of human society, and upon which much of our culture and technology have developed around. However it cannot be forgotten that for all that Pokemon are out friends, our allies, and in many cases even our families, that there exist those Pokemon whom have a capacity for destruction that far exceeds the capabilities of the average human. This is a fact that many people are completely uncognizant of, and they are unaware of this fact because of the actions and sacrifices of those brave individuals who sacrifice their time, and in some cases even their lives. These individuals are known as Pokemon Rangers. While it would not be factually incorrect to say that the Pokemon Ranger Unions are owned by Silph Co, the reality of the situation is far more complex. Union Headquarters are owned by Silph Co, and exist on Silph Co owned land, but other than that the only active interaction between Rangers and Silph Co is that Rangers pay Union Fees. To show the actual level of disassociation between Silph Co and the Rangers, it is no longer even Silph Co that is in charge of the training and licensing of Rangers, instead that responsibility having been transferred to the Exo-Space Judiciary Association. Rangers themselves, once licensed are considered 'free agents' which is a bureaucratic term of which this writer has been unable to find a satisfactory definition, or a definition at all. Thus it falls to this writer to create one. Pokemon Rangers are above all else, wanderers, to a degree that exceeds even those traveling trainers who hunt for the illusive term of Pokemon Master. Rangers, as a general rule, are those who decide to eschew modern civilization, living out in the wilds of our worlds in an attempt to become closer to nature and the wonders within it. It is this avoidance of society that reveals the single largest thing that acts as a difference between a Ranger and a Trainer - Namely the fact that a Ranger does not use the Portable Pokemon Capture and Storage Spheres that have become supremely common throughout every other level of our societies. Instead the Rangers use the Styler System - More information in the following info box. However, despite the very individualistic nature of Pokemon Rangers, and their near total rejection of our society, it is through their connections with the Ranger Union, the Stations, and the Coordinators who work there that they continue to provide a very important service to mankind. This service, colloquially known as the Bounty Board, is the primary means by which Pokemon Rangers acquire the funds that they need, should they be placed in a situation where they need money. The bounty board serves many different purposes - from the more obvious act of working as a Criminal Bounty Board, keeping track of the last known whereabouts of infamous Poachers and criminals, one part Ecological study system, keeping track of the local environs and the conditions of local biomes, and one part community odd job board, where other Rangers or Coordinators can interface with other Rangers in order to acquire assistance with any number of things. These range from the most mundane of odd jobs, such as several older and more hermit like of Rangers who will pay younger Rangers to travel into town for them and pick up what they need, to assisting in gathering large numbers of Rangers in order to pacify extremely powerful and dangerous Pokemon, as well as find the cause for their rampages. Additionally, in more recent times, various companies working on Terraforming worlds to be capable of sustaining Human and Pokemon Life have extended out feelers among the Pokemon Ranger community, valuing the Rangers experience with working with multiple Pokemon at once in order to properly handle the very specific timing and finesse required to enact the more permanent changes that Terraforming requires. Notably, many Rangers who assist Terraforming endeavors such as this are gifted with the ability to stay on the planet once it becomes habitable, and many take the offer. Lastly... There is one additional... caveat, perhaps would be the best word about the Pokemon Rangers. Due to the fact that they are trained by the Exo-Space League Judiciary Association, being a Pokemon Ranger does qualify as being a member of Law Enforcement, which means that if a Region is to be attacked, Local Rangers are liable to be conscripted in the Armies of the defending peoples, so that their unique guerilla warfare skills can be best used to weaken attacking armies in order to prevent additional loss of life. Thankfully, humans and Pokemon have not waged any wars is the last hundred years. Thus, this finale note is at least partially moot. |
The Styler System The Styler System1 was originally developed and created by Professor Hastings, of the Fiore Region of Terra. While the exact mechanisms by which the device functions are considered highly secret by the company that creates them, it is known that their Production requires both A Keystone, and a Z-crystal. This is a fascinating bit of information, because both Keystones and Z-Crystals are notable for their ability to transmit information and energy between a human and a Pokemon. What is known about the Stylers is that they are comprised of two parts, the Styler itself, and the Capture Disk. The Styler fires the Capture Disk through the air, at which point it is controlled through an currently proprietary means of manipulating the styler itself, before the Capture disk circles around a wild pokemon, giving off something referred to as a 'Takamichi Wave'. Once enough Takamichi Waves are generated, it is said by a ranger that was interviewed, that the Ranger's Heart becomes Open to the Pokemon, allowing it to understand the intent of the Ranger. While - again, proprietary technology, there are some who believe that this technology may be related to artificially access Psychic abilities. The important information, is that once the Ranger's Heart becomes Open, the vast majority of Pokemon become willing to work with the Ranger in order to handle whichever event that caused the Ranger to use the Styler System in the first place. This effect appears to be limited to ten minutes at a time, and most notably, damaging the Takamichi Wave appears to not only damage the Capture Disk, but cause pain for the user as well. | ![]() Styler ![]() Capture Disk |
1This is entirely useless information, but it has come to my attention that the original name for the style system was to be The Capture Loopy-Looper, and as a writer of potential human history such that any potential alien species discover it, I felt the need to make sure that Doctor Hastings original name is not lost to history- Blue Oak |
