Binary Stars (An Original Space Opera)

Brr...just took a closer look at the Walkyrie avatar.

Creepy.

Hey, I think there's a lot of possible omakes and story to be mined from a super-skilled commoner raising through the ranks protecting and supporting a small Empress. Especially if he treats her like a kid because she reminds him of his kid sister.

"Go! I command thee to take mine forces to victory!"

"Sure. Well, I'm off. You be good, now."

"I am thine Empress!"

"Yep. I'll bring some sweets back."

sigh

I guess I'll give up on my plan and go for...ugh..the commoner option since it's the only Male one that has a chance to win at this point.

Ugh no, commoner is so cliche it's not even funny. thousands upon thousands of real-world novels and anime/manga have used the same hidden talented commoner/normal guy/girl dragged into greatness/magic background.

I'd rather start off as an actual noble instead of another generic "hero of the people" commoner

And a minor noble from the fucking sticks rising to become the supreme badass of the Galaxy isn't cliche enough already?

Yes? Commoner is far more (heh) common because it lets the readers insert themselves or empathise with the protagonist same with the ordinary "plain" girl that actually turns out to be a super beauty that has extremely attractive guys falling for her.

Aahh, a fellow brother in arms against today's main character tropes.

Honestly I'd prefer it myself but at this point me wanting to read about a badass Male character for once overpowers my need to try and deviate from 90% of fiction these days.

Let's hope we can guide this MC should he win away from the whole moralistic 'Hero of the People' thing.

I mean, if commoner does win I plan on advocating for ruthless bastard choices nine times out of ten.

We will commit any atrocity to protecc the smol!

[X]Plan Die Walkyrie

I hope we get choices to make her the next brilliant Military Commander/Tactical Genius.

That'd be interesting and fun- and the way he'd do it would be highly influenced by where he gets the 25 Skill. I am just creeped out by the Walyrie's avatar and think that going the "above average skilled noble" route isn't as interesting.

Uhhh you realise what forum you're on yes? Especially since the overwhelming tendency of questers tends to be "screw anyone in authority who tries to tell me what to do" so as a commoner we're practically guaranteed to eventually clash with the nobility because people would rather tell the nobles off instead of socialing them and working within the system.

I mean we'll probably clash similarly as a minor noble but it at least won't be linked to class status then and likely just result in "screw that faction" instead of "screw nobles".

Sadly yes, but one can hope. It honestly depends on the players participating in the Quest. I've rarely ever seen it happen but I sure as hell argue as much as I can when these choices come up. Its modern mentality and today's society mostly that are the reason imo. But hey, its atleast worth a try even if most of the time I just end up dissapointed and a headache 😅

We are a group of contrarians that much is true

I shall say this: You must remember that you are going to suffer the weight of your consequences.

Actually you won't just get to choose your background to distribute stats. You get to distribute them yourselves, as well as your starting command.

Clashing with people who are a higher rank then you without protection is a sure way to get demoted or sent on suicide missions.

Just a heads up.

You may have a point about SV's quest base. I am active in two quests where, in one, a supervillain is a supporter of the environmental cause. And another where Disney corporation went to war with the gas companies, the Reagan administration, and players talked about going after big tobacco.

It is amusing, but very odd.

Edit: Also, if it'd get anyone to vote the commoner route: I have omake ideas that I'd be happy to type up as the quest starts going (not that I'm a great writer or anything- but it is a few bonuses). The Welkyrie? Nope- never. Creeps me out too much.
