Spirit of an Age (Exalted)

I confess I don't know the Exalted system well enough to know how intimacies are enforced, so I'll take my cue from players who do!

Intimacies are things the character cares about. There are three strengths, and an intimacy can be a tie or a principle. A defining intimacy is... well, defining. Something like Batman's refusal to take a life or use a gun, or Penelope's devotion to her husband Odysseus. A Major intimacy isn't as huge as that, but its definitely hefty. A strongly held philosophical belief, or the loyalty to a loved one or best friend. Minor ties are things you care about, but not super strongly.

For instance, if you have a minor tie of friendship to someone you will help them move. If you have a major tie of friendship you will help them move bodies.

Technically, we're a kind of elemental based on social movements. I think the term is Zeitgeist? Anyways, elementals don't count as gods unless they become lesser elemental dragons. I think we're dragon-shaped for other reasons, and we aren't technically one of creation's elements, so we probably don't fit into Heaven's bureaucracy enough that we'd have to worry about that.

Additionally, let's check out the one part of the world where we could stand still and blend in. Lookshy has warstriders, airships, and powered armor, we can either learn plenty from them about First Age Tech or introduce new repair methods. As a bribe, we can convince them to loosen the bonds of Helotry, which is a form of serfdom. It can be viewed as slavery, but it's closer to a ruling class of citizens acting as nobility, organizing peasants. We would be considered the foreigner merchant class of 'Metic' though, which might be a problem.

While we're on the topic, how does Liberalism feel about stuff like Universal Healthcare? Does that fall under the Disagreement part of Socialism: Sympathetic Disagreement, or does if fall under Natural Rights and the Social Contract?

Even von Heyek said no society as wealthy as the USA should have people go without medical care. Philosophically, Liberalism favors it on the basis of natural rights, but if a democratic society decides not to have it, that's their mistake to make.

Edit: The vast, vast majority of liberal societies have Universal Healthcare.

If an Elemental we'd be Metal, which is an Autochthonian element. This would technically make us an Ex Machina, and also likely make us subject to the Autochthonian version of the Elemental Summoning Sorcery. Of course the only people who could actually know/use that are Alchemicals. And after checking our charms, us knowing Dematerialize definitely makes us an Elemental. Gods are immaterial and know Materialize, Elementals are material and know Dematerialize.

Though this brings up a VERY important distinction as an Elemental. We know we are an Elemental who is a dragon, but do we count as an Elemental Dragon? Elementals automatically become Lesser Elemental Dragons at Essence 7 or 8, but I don't know if us being a dragon as we are would make us count as such. If we do, them that makes our social status skyrocket above almost everyone in Yu-Shan that isn't Gaia (and her 3rd circles) or the Incarnae. Why is this so? Because Gaia saw that elementals can turn into Dragons, and so anyone that becomes a Dragon is effectively adopted by Gaia.

Question for the GM: we know we are a dragon, but are we at all a Lesser Elemental Dragon?

Exalted dragons are the serpentine eastern kind. Not the Western style. None of the peeps in Creation would call you a dragon.

Would a watch even work during calibration? I thought that was when time itself is getting reset.
[X] Construct a mechanical watch, just for fun

A watch made during calibration might have interesting properties.

Watches are delicate work, so difficulty 3. Internal Fabricators gives 1 automatic success. I need 7d10.

This will take most of the day.

Where's the die roller function? I remember seeing it once but darn if I can remember where it is.

First Calibration 2
The biggest issue with making the watch, is that while you have the raw materials, you don't have any of the intermediate goods. No springs, no glass, no gears, just metal.

The first few hours are spent simply planning the structure of the watch. Time in Creation is recorded differently, and the days are longer by an hour. Twenty five hours instead of twenty four means all the gear ratios are going to need to be different, since the minute and hour hands will need to sweep out a smaller fraction of the watch's surface.

This actually takes up more time than you were planning, it takes you almost six hours to sketch out the final design of the watch. But you do finish, and it is time to begin. You head over to Faceted Opal's place and ask to use his forge once again.

"Accord?" He asks as he opens the door. "What brings you here during Calibration?"

"I want to use your forge for a pet project if you'll let me."

He just stares at you, "You do know this calibration is a week of rest, right?"

"I find it relaxing to make timepieces." You say.

He shakes his head, "Alright, if you say so. Permission granted."

"Thank you."

And with that it's simplicity itself to make the watch.

+2xp for making a timepiece. You will not receive any more xp for building timepieces.

As you admire the timepiece you have made, you consider what to do with the remaining four days of calibration.

Hey, they may still have a serf-noble class system, but they also have the best understanding of machinery outside the Heptagram. Might as well have some education to go with out business skills.
