There's no way to sugar coat this, you ARE going to lose people to the Flesh Change. I'm sorry, but that's the price to be paid for that same psychic potential.
That's what I figured. If we only loose 40% of our Legion and not the brothers Ahirman I will be fine.

Well personally I'm having a blast and Nurgle stays around. Same with Enerael to keep me in check regarding tactics.
Also, just wait for a low information vote. Like picking what Primarch to go talk with or a moderate information vote like Tyrian is "leveling" up and we have to choose traits. For example your Tyrian portrait drew in 32 voters. That's because they weren't worried about voting incorrectly.
