[]A Pirate Ship at Sea. You were on deck, next to the wheel that controlled the rudder. An officer was walking towards you.

I can't decide between an "aimless ship at sea" or "being stuck in the middle of nowhere after a long journey" to represent our current mindscape.

Tanaka has been shunted around going place to place and the things he's been subjected to have taken their toll, now he's found a place that looks like he could rest with someone there to help him choose which path he can travel on.

There's also the "Pirate Ship" with no one steering the wheel while Tanaka is standing to the side. He doesn't have the knowledge or skill to properly steer a "ship" and the sea can be merciless. His "First Mate" can help, but they'll never be the "Captain" and Tanaka is poor captain right now. Although, at least the sea is calm for the moment.

I'd like the REAL Igor, please.

We can spend our time with the real Igor, and when he's mugged and replaced by Yaoh we'll just act as the Mystery Ranger and work in the background.

Trains are cool. Also yeah since this is concurrent with Persona 4 I want the real Igor. Also because I have the feeling that replacing Igor with Yaldabaoth during the whole P4 fiasco could fuck over the Inaba Scoobies.

While I cannot say anything about what happens to us, The Inaba Scoobies will not be affected by this choice of who greets us... Because Yaldabaoth has other plans.

So everyone like the update? I only because I feel as though I could do better.

I'll reserve my judgment in terms of characterization after at least 5 updates, but for now you're doing fine. A few typos here and there but nothing that truly hurts the quest.
okay...

Edit: i had to ask because I really like trying to get the beginnings of the story solid.

I'd argue for either one of these options due to the whole "having no dream thing."

The Prison only really works in cases like the P5 protagonist, due to them being a "Prisoner of Fate." Your path in life has been irrevocably changed for the worse due to events completely outside of your control.

The Plane is similar to the P4 Protagonist's limousine. A journey to an unknown destination. The plane, however, suggests a much larger journey in terms of scale, while also carrying an element of risk unlike the relatively slow paced limousine.

If the Plane suggests danger, then the Pirate Ship suggests adventure. The fact that Kamui is standing by the ship's wheel, and the fact that it's a pirate ship, it promises much more agency and freedom in our destiny.

The Gas Station and Train Station are pretty similar in that they represent the inability to continue moving forward. Kamui is stuck waiting for a method of transportation to continue their journey. The key difference, I feel, is that the Gas Station represents a "rest stop" implying that our journey has already begun, but we're unable to move forward in our present state, while the Train Station is the beginning of a journey that hasn't, or isn't able to be, started yet. The Gas Station also seems to showcase the Protag's isolation a bit more, with it being "in the middle of nowhere." Therefore I'm choosing these options.

Every single one of the options requires our MC to stand up on their own two feet and face what has happened to him headlong.

The prison: He is a prisoner of Fate like Joker, only from much more tragic and dare I say preventable circumstances. He would not be where he is today if he had someone to give a damn, or he had a more stable home life. He is trapped in a place of abuse, and he needs to free himself from his fate.

The Plane: A journey as long and arduous as a plane ride is something that fits for a thematic reason. Trusting someone after years of neglect is going to be a journey that will take time. But it is possible.

Pirate Ship: This one is more about taking control of his situation, and charting his own course through his life. Having a Dream, knowing what he wants to do in life... that sort of thing.

Rest Stop and Train Station: Spot on.

I have a feeling that Y-mans still getting his plan in order so normal Igor for now, the moment his mannerisms change however is when we'll know something's up.

Rest Stop is as everyone's discussed, middle of our journey and completely isolated.

Part 3: Welcome To the Velvet Room
Part 3: Welcome To the Velvet Room

The Rest stop was like a gas station or convenience store that would spring up in a country town before a landslide of development hit. You had seen it on your train ride over, and from your time living in Amori. Small farming villages would have a Familymart or whatever the hell they were called, springing up over night with a gas station and cheap food on offer. The kids would work there part time to earn money or food, the parents no longer had to drive to another city to fill up on gas.

And then maybe a year later, A Junes or another Shopping mall would spring up, putting much of the small towns local industries and markets out of business.

But here was different… it felt different. The music that was playing sounded like it was from a Western Opera, with the singer bellowing high notes while the Piano playing in the background. It was a calming song playing, especially when you look behind you towards the door.

Outside was a yearning casam of blue and darkness, where even the stars seemed to be dimmed by it. The casam seemed to have no begining, or end… it just was there for all eternity.

An Abyss that you quickly turned away from. As you turned away, you saw the woman at the counter.

She had blonde, almost white hair like Sae's and Jiro's, but it was unnaturally clean, and flowing in a nonexistent breeze. On the counter was a blue book with multiple circles on the cover, but otherwise blank of any other markings. It was closed. The Blue uniform she wore was like a jacket or a shroud of some sort. But her most striking feature was her eyes… those golden eyes were almost impossible not to look at. "Hello." She said, her voice sounding… familiar, but so, ethereal, like there was unrestrained power behind it.

"Where am I?" You asked. This felt like a dream. "Who are you?" You wished to wake up, but instead you couldn't force yourself to wake up.

You were scared, but the women gave you a warm smile. "All will be revealed in a moment, for the master is about to arrive." She then slide over a piece of paper and a pen. "For the ledger."

The master? The Ledger? You did not know what to do besides write down your name on the piece of paper.

You turned to face a door in the back that was now open, and then out came a man with a very long nose and a very nice suit. Besides his nose, his eyes were wide open, like he was gazing into your soul which made you step back in fear.

"You have nothing to fear from me, or my assistant." The man's navely voice said as he sat down on a chair by the counter. "I believe introductions are in order." The man paused before saying. "Welcome, to The Velvet Room. I am Igor. My assistant there is Samantha."

The woman bowed her head slightly. "It is a pleasure to finally make your acquaintance."

"I must ask, who are you young man?" Igor asked.

"Kamuai Tanaka." You replied with a bow.

"Greetings Mr. Tanaka." Igor bowed his head slightly.

There was silence. "What is this place?"

Igor gave a small laugh. "The Velvet Room? This place exists between dream and reality, mind and matter."

That was not helpful. "Why am I in a gas station?"

Samantha spoke. "The Velvet Room takes the form of whatever the guest's subconscious projects when they first enter it. You have had a long journey in life before you arrived here, and you believe it is only another stop before you must carry on once more. But as of now you can't, for something clouds your heart, and your mind, and before you can move on, those clouds must be lifted."

That… made far too much sense. "But why am I here?"

Igor chuckled. "I do not know. My master works in mysterious ways, giving me two guests to work with at the same time, instead of just one… But I believe he has his reasons, and I will fulfil my purpose no matter what."

"And what is your purpose?" You asked.

"To assist the guests in their journey's." Igor replied. He waved his hands and you noticed a deck of Tarot cards on the counter. "Please, flip a card."

You hesitated. Your hand went out but rested on top of the cards. "What if I don't choose?"

"Then we cannot help you." Igor replied.

You gulped, but mustered what little courage you had to flip the card.

Igor chuckled. "Another Fool, in the upright position. Meaning new beginnings, a journey of new possibilities. You infinite possibilities in your future, if you only watch where you are going." He than flipped over another card. "The Death Arcana, upright as well. Symbolizing transformation, making way for the new, loss, failure, illness or death, and bad luck. A chapter of your life is now coming to an end, and you will be entering a new beginning. But making it there will not be easy." He flipped one more card. "The Tower in the Reversed position. You will undergo a great challenge in the future. There are circumstances beyond your control, that you must face, and only you have the power to change it."

"I… I!" You reacted. "I can't change anything in my life. I never have, and I never could."

"The Cards do not lie." Igor stated. He paused and Samantha walked over to the other side of the counter, and put her hands on your shoulders. It was calming, and dare you say… motherly.

"You are on a journey now. I hope to see you soon." Samantha stated, she then pressed her fingers to the top of your head.

And then you fell asleep.

Reward: You can now go to the Velvet Room. You can face your Shadow and win Peacefully... If that is what you wish. Yaldabaoth has taken an interest in you, and another Orphan. Let the Games Begin.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You awoke with a start, sitting up on your futon and looking out to the rising sun.

That was a weird dream… you just wished that you could have understood it more.

Crazy blue room and crazy gas station… What time is it?"

You looked at the clock and noticed that it was only 5:30 in the morning.

What do you do before Jiro takes you to School:
[]Make everyone Breakfast!: They deserve some food before waking up.
[]Get all your Apps and Music on your New Phone: You need them to survive the coming school year.
[]Wake up Jiro: You need to thank him.
[]Wake up Sae: Hopefully she won't mind if you talk to her… after waking her up.
[]Wake up Makoto: Early to wake her up might not be a good idea but it's worth a shot.
[]Go back to Sleep: Sleep!

Do you Mention your Dream to anyone when they wake up?
[]Yes
[]No

AN: Enjoy.
