Quest to Become a Hero

@adwarf, aside from skill levels, do we have to take the weight of heavier equipment into account, since our PC is noted to not be physically fit yet? Especially the bigger metal items like the Greatsword, Tower Shield, and Full Plate Armor?

Yeah, until the PC is more physically fit wearing full plate or running around with a greatsword/tower shield will drain you heavily and just be incredibly unwieldy in a fight.

For the most part the only stuff where weight will be considered (by me) are direct equipment like armor and weaponry, the rest will be vaguely hand-waved away. Unless you wanna try to hoist a boulder or something obviously.

Cool, guess I'll stick with the Light Leather Armor and save up for the Kite shield for later then. That'll give us time to capitalize on our Evasion Training and hopefully build up our fitness so we aren't slowed down from carrying around a medium sized metal plate, as well as getting some shield training lined up, since shields have a required skill, while armor doesn't.

Although...how do the Leather Armor and Simple Iron Chainmail compare in terms of defense, weight, and body coverage?

Overall the leather armor is definitely lighter and covers most of the body (minus the head) while the chainmail is heavier and would only cover the torso. As for how effective either is, you'd either need to get a professional opinion on the matter or test it out, currently.

Dominated Writing removes the ink and leaves the paper blank again.

We only have to worry about running out of paper if we're writing stuff down that we don't Dominate.

Between our hand axe, rags, and oil, we can just make our own torches of varying quality when we need to just by stopping by the forest. The Guide encouraged us to be creative and craft our own simple items instead of spending money on them.
A fair point. I'll cut both torch and paper

You end up purchasing a kite shield from the Smithy, a rather protracted session of haggling against the dwarven owner resulting in a fifty copper discount on it as well as a shouting match at one point. However, the both of you come out of it smiling strangely enough as the dwarf owner even gleefully begins flipping his coin into the air before catching it to see the result. You leave the man to his joy after that, you both clearly obtained whatever it was you wanted from the exchange and his fascination with that coin disturbs you somewhat though a part of you suddenly realizes something.

'Something keeps telling that that silver coin, and the gold one the guild shopkeeper has... they're similar to the scroll I have. Might be worth investigating.'

Afterwards you end up buying a belt pouch and flint & steel from the general store whose clerk turns out to be a steel wall when it comes to your attempts to haggle. They even go so far as to tell you to pay the full price, or leave. Sighing you purchase them at full price before leaving.

---

After your shopping is complete you head straight to the Guild to peruse the Quest Board for anything that may be worth taking. At this time of day incredibly few Adventurers are in the lobby (aside from you) and the usual suspect is standing behind the counter smiling as she processes the few requests brought to her. Turning your attention to the board you take a look at what all is on offer...

Payment: Thirty Coppers, 15 GP, 1 Rank Advancement Point, 10 Experience
Description: I need an extra set of hands or two to help bring in the harvest, if you're willing then please take this request and come to * Farm.

Payment: 25 Coppers, 10 GP, 1 Rank Advancement Point, 10 Experience per day
Description: Relgar has experienced a great influx of merchants, Adventurers passing through, mercenaries, and more due to activity in the north which has brought forth a great chance for profit. The Town Guard is currently struggling to deal with all the newcomers and a newly born rise in crime and has asked the Guild for Adventurers willing to patrol the town as well. Those seeking to take up the offer will need to work with the Guard for at least four days, or until the situation has stabilized.

Payment: 50 Coppers, 25 GP, 1 Rank Advancement Point, 10 Experience
Description: Due to the recent influx of trade and people plying the many businesses of the Lord the request has been made to recruit more able scribes to help record all the financial records made in this time. Work would be long and tedious, but those with experience please accept.

Payment: 50 Copper per 3 Golden Leaf (Quality does matter), Variable GP, Variable Rank Advancement Points, Variable Experience
Description: I have need of as many Golden Leaf as you can get your hands on, quality is important so insure proper storage. You can find me at the apothecary on the south side of the town, Gerald's Apothecary. I've provided drawings for those who've never seen Golden leaf and they can be found on the outskirts of Relgar's Northern Woods. Please only come when you have Golden leaf to deliver, I am a busy man.

Payment: 10 Copper for every pair of Vicious Rabbit ears, 5 GP for every pair of Vicious Rabbit Ears, 1 Rank Advancement Point for every ten pairs of ears, 1 Experience per every pair of rabbit ears.
Description: A rather ridiculous number of Vicious Rabbits have taken to destroying the eastern fields and after the death of several farmers Relgar's Lord has set down a bounty for the little bastards. After accepting the request bring proof of your slain foes back to the Guild to earn your reward. Also, don't damage the fields. Those who wantonly destroy the Lord's land in search of profit will find themselves at the end of his Knights swords.

Health: Battered and Bruised

Status Effects: Physically Weak (-5 to all physical related rolls until you recover), Tired (-2 to all rolls)
Dominate Writing - Haggling Basics - You used a copied portion of a basic guide to haggling as the target for your domination and it has brought with it a strange and seemingly keen mind for the act. When it comes to performing such an act you know you will have the ability to pick up tells from the person you're interacting with, and oddly your words will feel experienced and convincing. As if from years of experience. +10 to all haggling rolls. Lasts until the end of the day.

Heroic Legacy Points: 6

Level:
2
Experience: 94/200

Titles:

They Who Seek the Crown (Level One, 12/25) - A title earned by gaining the blessing of the God of War in a chance encounter with his will. It is a boon granted to those who seek to become like Lords, towering above the world with every action and word capable of bringing great waves of change. Currently it is weak and only grants you the power of Domination, but if you grow stronger and perform in a way that meshes with this Boon then perhaps its strength can grow.
Heroes can be Thieves Right? - In the name of Heroism you stole classified information from the Church of War without being caught. Now no innocent souls shall be ended with this dangerous knife, but ... yours might be if you mess up? Slightly increased chance of learning stealth and thievery related skills until discovered, lost if the Sealed Scroll is destroyed.

Ethical Scholar - A scholar's duty is that of facts, numbers, honesty, and boundaries. You have a devotion to the work of the written word that few would follow in the face of potential benefits. You seek simply to perform your work to the best of your ability and stand within the morals of your scholar code, even find yourself compelled to do so. Established personal Scholarly Code, sticking to it makes your work easier and better while going against it more difficult and with worse results.
  • Scholar Code I - No work is better than hasty work. {Provides +2 to scholarly rolls when followed, take -2 to scholarly rolls when ignored.}
  • Scholar Code II - Provide the facts to those that hire you, nothing more and nothing less. {Provides 2 bonus experience when followed, lose 2 experience when ignored.}
  • Scholar Code III - Judgement is the employer's job. {Provides 2 bonus experience when followed, lose 2 experience when ignored.}

Monster Knowledge (Relgar Township, Beginner, 45%) - You've memorized basic information provided on Vicious Rabbits, Giant Rats, Slimes, Monstrous Corn, Green-pelt Wolves, and Forest Bears.
Copying Writing (Beginner, 35%) - With your past experience and this new work you're slowly becoming accustomed to copying writing in one form or another, you feel you're picking up some tricks here and there to make your work faster. You lack some more experience to truly put it into effect though.
Harvesting (Learning Beginner, 45%) - You are slowly obtaining experience in the act of harvesting plants and herbs. With some more work experience you are certain you'd be at least somewhat skilled in the act.
Evasion (Learning Beginner, 90%) - You are rapidly adjusting to utilizing your body to dodge incoming attacks, it still needs some work, but you're fairly certain you can at least slightly lower the chances of getting hit soon.
Haggling (Learning Beginner, 75%) - You have obtained a lot of insight into the act of haggling varying from the dos to the don'ts and you are certain with a bit more knowledge and actual practice you can put it to work helping you.
Identification (Learning Beginner, 10%) - After reading the book on Identification you have a vague idea of how the power works, but without a teacher to guide you in the absolute specifics you are unsure if you can learn to utilize this power.

Abilities:
Domination (Level One, 2/25) - Allows you to bind creatures/monsters that are one level below you (to a minimum of level 1) to your will permanently. Unless the creature in question has a particularly strong will then the power is bound to succeed. Does not work on humans. [Dominated Beings: 1/2]
+ Dominate Writing (Level One, 2/25) - You've obtained a new power derived from your blessing from the God of War. It grants you the ability to draw strength from the written word though... You are utterly uncertain what that actually means. [Dominated Writings: 1/1]

I don't want to do any Quests that risk monster encounters until this is gone (probably after sleeping).

We also need to buy a Shield Training course now, maybe an Axe course too if that's what we actually want to invest in as our melee weapon. And we're still waiting on researching how to be a proper Monster Tamer/Caretaker for our Rabbit.

I'm pretty sure that the Inn option is for when we want to turn in for the day, so if you want to do the Scribe job you should either delete the Inn option or wait to do the Scribe job until tomorrow.

Physically weak doesn't affect scribing job at all. Get to the grind THEN rest. We're not tired at all.
Please don't throw away the day. We need the money.

Tired (-2 to all rolls)
Our Scribing performance is going to be penalized too, just not quite as much as the physical tasks. That's why I wanted to finish up the Evasion Beginner skill, since it's already 90% done, so even low rolls won't make much of a difference. And we're going to want it if we do something like Herb Gathering again tomorrow, since it pays out really well (would also get us more Harvesting exp).

Not badly enough to mind I think, given our skills.
