Y'know I do tend to raise a big fuss about practicality but having beaten Fume Knight a few days ago I would kinda be okay with this.
I declared it earlier but not in the vote but the intent of that is to move instead into Gladius. Either is a sidearm choice+shield for close in work, but it's optimizing towards FIBUA (the kind of tight spaces that would have forced a weapon switch to begin with).

No, some people forget to vote on second choices, or just pick the exact copy their first votes.

But your right about, the way the voting works.

I think there would be a more voting veriaty, if you couldn't pick the same thing you picked as the first choice, but that's not how it works.
Only two people forgot to make a second choice. You can ping them if you wish, but it is entirely possible that that's all they wished to post.

But, yes. The way the voting system was presented people can present slightly altered plans to appeal to different audiences. If people want a plan with Alchemy instead of Trade, and that being the only change in the plan, that is totally allowed. This is dangerously close to vote shaming.

The voting was made the way it was made, I was making observations.

As for vote shaming, not once have I said anything about voting on one specific thing or discouraging on a vote choice or any plans.

As for plans there aren't any or at least there shouldn't be, if it was you could use a vote counter.

This is which choices are more popular type of thing, with the gm picking secoundary choices if they are more popular than the main choices.

dirty voting business is done

more important reactions time
Even if there wasn't the round of applause drowning them out, it's entirely possible that you would missed Elizabeth lean over to Sieglinde and whisper, "And in three, two, one..."
You can say many things about her, but you cannot fault her comedic timing. Or perhaps Neianne timing?

"As long as you don't make stupid decisions," Elizabeth adds, earning her a small sigh from her taller elven counterpart.
No pressure!

but by and large, it is as Sieglinde predicted: Although a level of intersection exists, most squad leaders are from the low aristocracy or merchant families, and most of them are elven. At the same time, however, from what you know about most of them, they are generally also the most capable and talented of their respective squads
Yes, but that then can circle back around to cultural and generational elven advantages leading them to be qualified for those positions in the first place.

Lucille seems to be trying to talk with the rest of her squad, but Penelope seems to angrily say something - her words are entirely inaudible at this distance - before turning and walking away, leaving Lucille looking stunned; Trudy follows along, although Wendy at the very least has the grace to give the Celestia a polite bow before returning to the dorms.
Angriest Caldran mercenary is still angry.

To the side, Ashlyn again sighs, while Melanie's look of concern has transformed into one of murder.
Pffft, Melanie? Murderous? Naaaaaah.

The real surprise is that Neianne didn't react to seeing it!

It's hard to feel optimistic about the Battle of Halissen. Sure, Caldran bravery and ingenuity in the field has kept a numerically-superior enemy at bay for practically a year now. But you've also studied the history of warfare through the course of the last academic year, and wars in Iuryis over centuries have consistently favored the side with the most soldiers, the most wealth, the most materiel.
Yeah, once it's reached a siege, the defenders are pretty well fucked without relief. They need to get an army capable of beating the forces invested in the siege out there in time for the defenders to still be in a position to contribute by sallying and frankly if they had those kinds of forces sitting around they never would have gotten this far to begin with.

"Viscountess Nornfel has had a decade now to fortify Halissen and reinforce the walls. So long as the stores hold, a siege favors its defenders." Her graceful posture straightens even further. "It won't be like Ainellen and Cherlith, or Wynholm."
It'll be worse~

Pray for mercenary action somehow inflicting bad attrition during the siege, 'cause there's no other real hope.

"Just a letter from my mother," Elizabeth quips in between bites of vegetables. "Diana has run off to join the army."
I blame Neianne's bad influence.

It helps that I have no idea what's winning.

The vote tally is a mess. Probably because no one's actually grouped their preferred and backup plans into blocks that the counter can actually recognize as a group of votes.

People, uh, might want to do that.

@Kei

When you placed certain weapons as derivatives, did the derivatives needed to be specified in the vote or was it intended to just use the the main weapon type vote as a catch all term and deciding on the specific weapon preference later?

I'm pretty sure it is meant to work like Greatswords did; we pick the base weapon and then once we have enough skill in it we can specialize into one of the sub-classes.

Incidentally, voting like this mean that those wanting strategic voting will have a very hard time to know what is in the lead... Especially when what is winning is absolutely not obvious.

Honestly, that might not really be a bad thing?

[x] First Choice:
-[x] Staff
-[x] Strategy and Logistics
-[x] Tactics and Command
-[x] Trade and Commerce
-[x] Buster Sword

[x] Second Choice
-[x] Bow
-[x] Buster Sword
-[x] Tactics and Command
-[x] Alchemy and Botany
-[x] Bestiary

I think that's a format that works well with the auto-tally?

To be honest I hold no real preference in secondary weapon at this time, it is the other four I really want.
