Gestalt (Human Group Mind in WH40K)

[X] Hide and observe (very low chance of discovery - presuming the Imperial dropship isn't specifically looking for the Reliant. Imperial dropship remains intact and active)

This might also be an opportunity for Eris to test some of its potential psychic powers...

[X] Hide and Hijack : Hide from the enemy sensors while utilizing our orbital sensor net to try and listen in on Imperial communications.

We need to know why they are in our system and if there are more of them incoming

I wonder if Eris can mimic other group's behavior? Like, if the group mind concentrates while watched Guard movements, patrols, evne limited combat training...can we pick up Guard techniques that way?

I fail to see why hijacking doesn't have all the downsides of destroying. We cannot into combat.

Passively listening and cracking their codes doesn't reveal our presence.
Even more laughably, some depictions don't have the Imperial Guard use any encryption on their Vox comms. *glares at War Zone Damocles: Mont'ka*

Who knows, we might end up taking in those humans into our little group, would be hilarious if they end up in our human hive mind and are now resistant to chaos.

That's not hijack, that's wiretapping and observing. Hijacking would be to requisition their ship for ourselves.

I see many advantages in wiretapping and observing them which is what I thought I was voting for. Hijacking would be stupid at this point.

There's an entire sentence after the first 3 words, which explains what the plan is.

I don't see why you fixate on the meaningless title (chosen only because of the alliteration), instead of the actual content of the plan.

because hide and observe is hide and observe and when you make a plan of hide and hijack with the prime difference from observing being hijacking clearly you don't simply intend to observe.

If the intent is purely to observe than shouldn't hide and observe do just fine?

you know what this confuses me and now we're getting into intentions and semantics which are the surest way to get nowhere in a discussion and get everyone pissed off. Hows about we ask the person whose interpretation and semantics actually matter because we can go in circles for days and get farther and farther from accomplishing anything?

edit: also pretty sure those are suppossed to be plans not meaningless names for plans sicne all the plans written have pretty accurate descriptions of what they do and what their intent is in the plan.

A plan name is nothing more than the name of a plan. It has no significance beyond that.

[X] Hide and Hijack : Hide from the enemy sensors while utilizing our orbital sensor net to try and listen in on Imperial communications.

has the exact same effect as

[X] Banana Split : Hide from the enemy sensors while utilizing our orbital sensor net to try and listen in on Imperial communications.

It makes sense to include sensible names because then it's easier for people to associate the name with the intention, but it doesn't have to be an exact match, as long as the intent is clear. In this case, I liked the alliteration even if listening into someone's comm network isn't exactly a hijack.

This may be a golden opportunity to capture a few Imperials to integrate into the Gestalt, giving us access to Imperial culture and thought processes. Which should eventually open up the ability for covert trade.

And a better idea on what they can actually do in terms of tech.

And actual knowledge of ground warfare.

Essentially, we wait until it lands and see what it does. If they send out scout parties, we see if we can make one group disappear.

@Driven by Apathy

Do we have any tranquillizers useful for capture? Or the ability to screw with their comms? I assume with the expertise on hand, we should be able to cobble something together.

Having read the explanation of what was intended (listen in to communications), I was going to interpret "Hide and Hijack" as being functionally the same as "Hide and Observe", so in this case it does indeed not make a difference.

That being said, it's probably best if you try be as unambiguous as possible so that I don't accidentally interpret your plans in a different way from what you intended.

You have science level 5 and tech level 3 light industry, which (as previously stated) includes the ability to produce tech level 3 pharmaceuticals. I'm sure your people can find something that works as a tranquilizer. Of course, actually getting that tranquilizer into your targets' bloodstream is a bit more difficult. You could probably improvise some kind of signal jamming as well.

I'll make a note that you're interested in capturing the dropship's crew and take it into account when writing the next update.

There are 4 things Imperium is more advanced than DaoT humanity.

1- Warp
Warp knowledge and defences against it. Gellar Field?

2- Cybernetics, Transhuman tech
While DaoT humanity certainly had better tech and science than Imperium's Mechanicus... They only did very small. And probably these small groups eventually evolved to Mechanicus.

3- Super human (Space Marine) tech.

While DaoT humanity had better biological knowledge, the Emperor certainly improved it and used it along with the warp power he stole (made a deal, then back stabbed) from Chaos Gods to create Primarch's and Space Marines.

4- Propoganda and Brain Washing

The Imperium certainly after 10 thousand years of warfare manage to surpass all humanity nations to religions propaganda power and brain washing.
