Petals of Titanium -- My Life as a Mecha Setting Bridge Bunny Quest

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
For me it's less about anger and more regarding moving forwards. We can't remain bound by the hopes and preconceptions which we saw Mosi through before. Even in the best case scenarion of everything being fixed that still requires we move past who we think she is. Reevaluating relationships like this just seems to be a healthy choice for me.

I'll grant you that that line of reasoning is solid, but I'm afraid that Amani isn't exactly going to be reasonable. We are voting on what she's gonna angst over-

Aaaaannnd, ninja'd.

I agree, I'm just not sure that is how that option will go :V

Point. But I am seeing it as something we need to get through quick and cleanly, if not with a good bit of pain. Mosi will probably keeping her head down for a while so no meeting in our future so there will be time for Amani to reevaluate what she's going through. Right now I think she just needs to let it all out, and she is talking about it with someone and not just stewing in her own angst. Even better, Lori's brother is on the other side. She could provide some emotional support in this vein that could bring it all together even if Amani is in a bad place.

Hmm. Lori's brother being on the other side could help.

I just don't want it go down a bad road. If we have to kill Mosi in the end, we have to kill her; I just don't want the impetus for that to come from our side. I don't want to harden our hearts.

[x] Guilt that you brought Anja there, that you couldn't somehow stop Mosi

Anja didn't manage to explain why she was arresting Mosi.

So, Amani has no idea why the fight happened.

Let's save betrayal for when Amani learns Mosi is an enemy combatant.

Mosi is still Amani's sister. On some level, they still care about each other, or at least want to care about each other.

However, Mosi is quite fucked up as a person. Judging from her remembering her academy days during and after the war, Mosi is dealing with abuse from her teachers and peers, as well as (maybe, just speculation on my part) resentment over her mother and sister seemingly abandoning her. That's not even getting into whatever indoctrination the Holy Imperials put her through during training.

All this doesn't excuse Mosi shooting Anja. Even if she's arresting you, you don't just shoot your sister's best friend. What this does mean, especially given Mosi's surprise that the Saturnian Imperials aren't complete dicks, means there's a good chance we can get all the Norths on the same side of the war.
Mosi is a really interesting case amongst the enemy, namely that she seems to be the only true believer we've actually seen amongst enemy forces. Where everyone else (that I can recall at the moment) seems to have joined the Holy Solar Empire's navy because it was beneficial to them, Mosi seems to honestly believe that the emperor is the rightful ruler by divine mandate (going by her protest that "Command was lead by Divine Will).

And of course she does! Given what Mosi's parents did, every single slip up became an excuse for punishment. If she didn't sing the Emperor's praises with 100% sincerety, well, she probably wouldn't have made it as far as she has.

And despite this, we see that Mosi still manages to have somewhat of a working moral compass. Far from a perfect one, sure, but she has to actively force herself to not think of the rebels who get executed post-surrender and she really didn't like being forced to shoot a girl who just shot at her (and let's be honest, Mosi's chances of surviving getting arrested are slim). And despite what she says now, I really doubt Mosi will be able to face Lady Perbeck in combat without getting a flashback to her sister's tearstruck face.

Mosi will probably keeping her head down for a while so no meeting in our future
And now I can't help but imagine Amani walking through every meter of the station waiting for her two-way responder to trigger again...

I don't think that's going to be the result despite my first post although I am pretty optimistic. Amani is talking to get things off her chest, to express them and work through them. If it was a more formal setting I would be more hesitant considering the opinions at play but I feel Lori's own experiences in a similar vein could be a big help here. There's understanding there that I think can let us consider things thoughtfully in the future without becoming cold.

why do you hurt me

You know what, you convinced me. If Gazetteer betrays us at least we'll know we voted for the right reasons.

Eh, I'll continue to be a paranoid fuck. Doubt the "existential dread" thing will win, barring a good turnaround, but I'd be okay with the current vote winning.

So, reminder, it's Lori's cousin who sided with the enemy, by surrendering to them and recognising the emperor, but still a close enough relation for it to be relevant.

You can absolutely trust me to try my best to tell a good story and not to be needlessly antagonistic!

... probably not much outside of that, though, admittedly. As evidenced by Anja's broken body lying over there.

The only screaming I get from this quest is internal screaming. Constant internal screaming.

I mean, they are all awful options, so not much difference right? :V
Are they? They're all negative emotions, but there's no avoiding having Amani feel bad right now. This is an opportunity to shape her initial attitudes toward certain things and give me a baseline for precisely how she's feeling bad going forward. (Note: how she feels here will not cement her attitude towards, say, Mosi in stone and there will be further opportunities to shape it, but this is going to affect some stuff)

Also: congrats, SV, you picked the one love interest out of the initial three offerings who is actually emotionally equipped to comfort Amani in this particular circumstance.

Yay! We didn't completely fuck up!

(Yeah, I know I only joined the quest inside of an hour ago, but semantics.)
I'd like to know in what world "having to comfort my emotionally crippled cyborg GF who thought I might have gotten shot and is upset but can't express it" is evidence of fucking up. That's living your best life, frankly.

(there's nothing wrong with Gloriana, mind you, and I really enjoyed writing that last scene after a sequence mostly of bad things happening to both Amani and Mosi)

Pfft, I'm sure Ito is more than equipped to handle distressed damsels by now!

... I mean, at least he can't say anything accidentally insensitive?
He would have been fine at it in general, in the AU where SV votes to kiss boys. But, like, less so when, as in this particular scenario, Anja just got shot and nearly died. If Amani weren't entirely onboard the "yeah, screw Mosi" train then it would have also caused a lot of tension between them.

Wait, we could've gotten that instead? Dang iiiiiiiiiiiiiit! :lol
The cyborg girl was not a secret, you talked to her a few updates ago : p

[X] Fear and existential dread over everything going wrong in an escalating war

Wish we could get an our emotionally crippled cyborg GF in an omake then again it might be possible to do so in the future if Lori go west.
Honesty I really hope we got a way out since the whole thing felt like we're going to be in the middle of a clash etween titans, somebody kill the shit emperor slowly for the whole mess.
