[X] Fear and existential dread over everything going wrong in an escalating war

Because this might be enough emotional ow to justify Amani's honorable discharge once her term is up.

[X] Grief and worry for Anja being wounded, eclipsing all else

The betrayal and existential dread bit is still to come, after our sister kills our mother, or vice versa.

[X] Betrayal and disillusionment over your sister shooting your friend and comrade

Family is the people you care about and that care about you. Genetics are happen-stance. Family names are legal technicalities. This was not Amani's sister shooting her friend, this was an enemy shooting Amani's sister.

Amani isn't actually an enemy, thank all the stars. She isn't actually going to be wearing a uniform. Mosi will never meet her across a battlefield. If that had been the case, Mosi doesn't know that she would be able to keep pulling that trigger. If she gets any sleep tonight, it will be on the strength of that knowledge alone.

Mosi, at least, still considers us family. Pretty strongly.

[x] Guilt that you brought Anja there, that you couldn't somehow stop Mosi

We're fairly certain that Anja will live, we're still processing Mosi's betrayal, and I think the existential dread can wait until a somewhat less personal catastrophe hits.

Now is about the time when the recriminations and second-guessing should be setting in.

Okay, having binged this over the past day, I'd like to say something, and lay down my vote.

Mosi is still Amani's sister. On some level, they still care about each other, or at least want to care about each other.

However, Mosi is quite fucked up as a person. Judging from her remembering her academy days during and after the war, Mosi is dealing with abuse from her teachers and peers, as well as (maybe, just speculation on my part) resentment over her mother and sister seemingly abandoning her. That's not even getting into whatever indoctrination the Holy Imperials put her through during training.

All this doesn't excuse Mosi shooting Anja. Even if she's arresting you, you don't just shoot your sister's best friend. What this does mean, especially given Mosi's surprise that the Saturnian Imperials aren't complete dicks, means there's a good chance we can get all the Norths on the same side of the war.

I'm afraid that if we vote for feeling betrayal, redeeming Mosi will that much harder. Probably won't be impossible, but it will be harder. Ergo, I'mma vote for:

[X] Fear and existential dread over everything going wrong in an escalating war

And this entire sequence of updates exist basically to show that both North sisters care about each other and wish to be a family again.
Given neither of them knows the first thing about the other that is a very presumptuous statement. They both care about the pre-teen girl they used to know. Unfortunately neither of those girls exist any more.

Mosi, at least, still considers us family. Pretty strongly.
She considers the civilian Miss North to be family.
Ensign North? Probably no more than Dame North, who she is eager to kill.

I don't believe that's true. We can see that Amani matters to Mosi, as in the last update:

I'm not for doubling down on anger against Mosi myself.

For me it's less about anger and more regarding moving forwards. We can't remain bound by the hopes and preconceptions which we saw Mosi through before. Even in the best case scenario of everything being fixed that still requires we move past who we think she is. Reevaluating relationships like this just seems to be a healthy choice for me.

I agree, I'm just not sure that is how that option will go :V
