[X] Emotional Ties. You're going into this to meet the people that make up Iscariot. After all, if you'll be working together, you want to know who you will be working with. And it couldn't hurt to know that they won't stab you in the back. (Talking + Understanding Roll; DC 45)

[x] Observation. You're primarily trying to find out anything that would be considered useful to Hellsing in the future. Know your enemy, as they say. (General Diplomacy + Intrigue Roll: DC 35)

Not really fond of the observation option since it makes it seem like we intend to treat them like enemies. We are likely going to be working with Iscariot in the future so it seems like we should try to at least try to work together instead of automatically putting them as enemies since making enemies out of people when you don't need to is just a bad idea in general. Not to mention that we may be able to influence them to be less extreme since being an 'angel' means that even Maxwell can't just brush off what we say.

That and I really want us to get along with the ones like Alexander Anderson, Heinkel and Yumie since that seems like it would be a fun interaction.

Have to remember this.

Pretty sure that only applies to people like Maxwell. Thing is most of them aren't actually as radical as Maxwell. I imagine that the less radical ones would love to meet Arthur and get to know him.

[X] Diplomatic Ties. While you won't remove the bad blood between Hellsing and Iscariot overnight, at least you can make some headway towards doing so. You're all, ultimately, after the same thing: the protection of the people from that which wishes them harm. (Parley + Economics Roll: DC 40)

Basically kill the vampires. Don't be assholes about it.

Observation it is.

Edit: That's 85 + 50 (General Diplomacy) + 45 (General Intrigue) - 10 (Maxwell) = 170 Major Success

Why is it that you 10 want to go with option that intends to fight the Catholics.

This isn't necessarily a plan to fight the Catholics. It's more, "Learn more about them and keep the information in your back pocket in case you need it."

Sorry, if I made it seem like the former.

Trait Gained: The No Life King's Judgement: Alucard related activities locked for two turns. Anything relating to Alucard will suffer a - 40 Penalty.

Sigh

This is why I didn't want to spam the Alucard options.

Will this trait go away by itself eventually, or are we stuck with it until RNJesus gives us enough good roles to make Alucard not completely contemptuous of us?

It says we're locked out of taking Alucard actions for 2 turns. There's no explicite time limit on the huge fuckin penalty we have to actions relating to Alucard in any way. I figured that part was seperate from the 2 turn lockout on actions.

The Penalty will go away along with the restriction after two turns, or if you get a high enough roll on specific actions.

Hello everyone, got some bad news, but it's not nearly as bad as it usually is.

My charger for my laptop is officially fucked (as in the things that cover the wires are completely gone), so I can no longer charge my laptop until I buy a new one.

Since this is my last charge, I figure I might as well use it to let you guys know what's going on.

Of course this doesn't mean that I won't be able to be on, or that I won't be able to write up the next update. Just that it might be a bit slower than it was originally going to be (as apart of my attempt to remove procrastination, I was going to challenge myself to get it finished today, not allowing myself to do something if I don't get it finished).

Just wanted to give you all a heads up.

Turn 5
Your efforts prove to be very fruitful…at least, eventually they did.

You had a difficult time even getting them to listen to you…but not for the reason you were originally expecting.

When you and your mother arrived at the agreed-upon meeting point (a discreet, yet well-furnished hotel in the Caribbean islands), you found Section XIII's members in the lobby. They were apparently waiting for you and a man in a purple overcoat with silver hair attempted to stand up and speak first.

…Until he was interrupted by a Sister of the Church rushing over and yanking you into a bear hug before anyone could react. You'd probably have had your lungs crushed if Seras' own way of showing affection hadn't trained you to withstand this type of treatment with her similar behavior.

The nun proceeded to say a lot of nonsense, most which you were able to translate into, "You're real! A child of our Lord is here in front of me, and he looks sooo—"

You didn't hear the rest as the Sister was suddenly yanked off of you by a blonde woman grabbing her by the cowl. The more physically imposing of the two, she gave the nun a stern admonishment while you picked yourself up from the floor, "Yumie! We talked about this! You were meant to sleep and not embarrass us in front of the Son of God!"

Yumie, which you guessed was the nun's name, didn't seem to be listening to her companion. Her hair was let down in a long black mess, while she looked at you with eyes that made you glad Sir Rotterdam had you practice hand to hand combat. Her hands were held together against her cheek as she stared you down, "You know I would never miss this moment Heinkel. I finally get to see—"

She was interrupted, again, by Heinkel bashing her over the head with a folder you're guessing she obtained from the table with two more neatly lined up on it. As the nun fells, Heinkel shouted out, "Awaken, Yumiko!" at the top of her lungs.

The nun suddenly stopped falling, body going rigid. She bolted up straight, her face less threatening than before. In fact, the air of menace she had around her was completely gone. In its place was one of….submission and pacifism. Her eyes started to water as she turned to Heinkel to rapidly apologize. It got to the point where you were unable to make out what she was saying she was going so fast. The blonde woman's glasses shined much like your mother's when she was cross with someone.

You were about to say something to try and defuse the situation when the man from before stood up to chastise both of them, "How can you two still be this incompetent?! You were both briefed on this matter and given a task to prevent this exact situation from occurring!" You'd guess that man was the superior to both women since both of them had their heads point towards the floor at the sound of his voice. Behind you, you could hear your mother chuckling at the three of them. No doubt she is enjoying watching her competitors completely break every type of protocol a Shadow Organization practiced on a daily basis.

This went on for a bit until a man you hadn't seen before came up behind the silver-haired man. When his shadow fell over the three of them, you could see the tension in each of their shoulders suddenly lift off into the ether. He stood taller than all of them, his broad shoulders encompassing a large portion of space. His long arms fell around their shoulders, before pulling them all into a friendly hug.

He lifts his face and you saw the man who could only be, Alexander Anderson.

Iscariot's answer to Alucard.

You didn't know what you expected when you first met him. You were briefed on him, but the most you got out of it was that he was a priest of some kind. Looking at him then, his attire certainly matched the data. The air about him, however, that's what concerned you. It was like Alucard's, but different. More welcoming, though that may just be the smile that's on his face.

His voice gave away his Scottish accent, "Now, now you three. There's no need to fight. I'm sure we're all just excited to be in the presence of his Holy Agents. Now, why don't we all sit down and introduce ourselves?" His eyes were closed the entire time, but you could tell that he was staring right at you. What did he think of you at the time? Was he as fervent as Yumiko or more level-headed? He certainly seemed to be the latter judging by how he defused the situation, but you know to never let outward appearances fool you.

After introductions, you all went out to the terrace where a special isolated table was prepared for you. The rest of the meeting went smoothly. Most of what Iscariot asked was just questions about your health and other pleasantries. They didn't really have any questions about Hellsing, though you did notice anytime you mentioned your adoption Yumiko or Heinkel tended to fire back with something positive about Iscariot. That actually happened a few times over the course of the meeting. Even when you mentioned your attempts at flying (ensuring they don't know how far you've progressed on that front), Heinkel suddenly started talking about how Iscariot could prepare a facility to learn and study such things. You looked at your mother with a raised eyebrow at which she just nodded.

The entire time the Iscariot group kept their eyes firmly on you. It was very obvious that they were paying very little attention to your mother or anything she might have said. Maxwell, the silver-haired man, was the primary culprit when it came to this. Anderson, however, gave her all the respect she deserved as head of Hellsing.

Though you would've been miffed at the thought, it actually worked to your advantage. As whenever you asked a question or offered something, they accepted without a fuss. It was slightly annoying in all honesty. You had hoped to come into this and convince them to treat you as just another person…albeit one with wings and heavenly origins, but still.

That and they were a bit too zealous when it came to anything you needed.

Like when you said the room felt a little chilly, Heinkel and Yumiko went inside. You then heard some screaming from somewhere, before they came back and the temperature would rise.

That was….disturbing.

Eventually, you all said goodbye to each other, Yumiko and Heinkel taking special care to shake your hand before you left. You think you heard Yumiko whispering about how she wasn't going to wash hers again before Heinkel hit her with another folder she produced from….you don't know where this time.
Maxwell did the same, though you could feel how much he wished you would be coming with him instead from the hard gaze he shot at your mother. Coupled with the shame and anger he felt at having a Child of God be adopted by his religious enemies, you were surprised his teeth didn't start grinding. His decorum held up throughout the entire exchange, however, and you thanked him for giving you this chance to meet with them.

Father Anderson was the last one to see you off. The man was pleasant enough during the meeting, but when you offered up your hand, he instead dropped to his knee and started to rub your head. With a smile, he pressed a small note into your hands while saying, "I am many things, my Lord. Some I am proud of, some I am not. But, above all else, I am a Man of God.

You looked down at your hand, seeing a number on the small sheet. You looked up at Anderson who kept his smile through it all, "And I would be a poor excuse for one if I didn't give one of his own a way to speak to me when he needs to." He said no more, standing up and walking after Maxwell.

You turned around and placed the note in your shirt pocket. You got in the limo with your mother as Walter prepared to drive off towards the airport.

"So, Arthur," mother said as the limo started to drive off. You turned towards her, hands in your lap with eyes aglow, "Did you learn what you needed?"

With a smile as innocent as a babe's, you take out the small folder filled with notes you took on the major Iscariot members, "Yes, mother. Indeed I did."
