We don't have the leverage to vassalize them right now. They want us to help so they can counter attack, they are sure they can survive without us, they just need us so they can strike back.
[X] Plan War Tribute
-[X] Accept the deal. Instead of raiding Brushcrest, the Valley People will march with them against the People of Makar.
--[X] Brushcrest will supply The Valley with Food in exchange for their services
--[X] Brushcrest will allow Speaker to preach in their village
--[X] The Valley will allow the Maidens access to the Valley.

Our reigion is far too embedded into our culture and society to be displaced and if another religion did take hold subjegation lets us deal with it immediately, the chance of a religious minority managing to appear is almost non existent right now.
Cancel, my votes not workable right now since we can't trade food.

[X] Plan Jolly Cooperation

No pissy water faith in MY VALLEY.

[X] Plan Acceptable Cooperation
-[X] Accept the deal. Instead of raiding Brushcrest, the Valley People will march with them against the People of Makar.
--[X] Brushcrest will allow Speaker to Preach in Brushcrest.
--[X] Water Maidens are allowed access but are NOT allowed to preach.
--[X] Brushcrest will not build another village or outpost along the river of the Valley People.

I think we ought to add as a part of the deal that we get the first pick of loot (and POPs) from the people of Makar.

@Azel What, and how much of it, is Brushcrest willing to offer as payment to sweeten the deal?

This is going to end up giving our military advantages to everyone isn't it?

They weren't permanent; that's why I wanted to defeat Brushcrest this turn before they spread. But our original goal was actually to make Brushcrest a tributary, and if we can accomplish that without violence, why not?

The greatest threat to us is brushcreast.
This helps them far to much.

If they become our tributaries and enough of them convert to our faith, Mandate will allow us to slowly make them our vassals in 2-3 turns.

I feel you but [] Jolly Cooperation, in its current form, is good enough.

If they accept if not then its time for the raids. I believe that if they don't then well they can fight the both of us

Would like shells but this is fine, we should get plenty of loot and grateful serfs, which is damn useful for us, people willingly marching under subjegation is rare.

Because this isn't going to get us a tributary. They are coming at us with heroic diplo not the other way around.

What do you want? They are mostly looking into paying you with shells.

I'm off to bed now. More answers in the morning.

interesting...they caught us just in time before we decided to blast their progress to nothing for a few generations.

how...

interesting...

I wonder if this is a "Just as Planned" moment? because if we can beat this River Raider tribe and destroy them, well...I'm going to be happy to have those pops spread out among any would be vassal's…just most to us as well and separated so they cant go on a rampage (as well as working for silver and other things!)

I still wonder how having log-houses would be like for us, considering they would definitely allow larger expansion as well as food preservation (well keeping it away from vermin mostly...if we manage to get pottery first I will laugh!)

I'm unsure as to where the rejection of the water faith comes from... it doesn't seem to conflict with any of our tenets. Worshipping the skulls of ancestors for guidance, and going to the spirits of waters for safe journeys and rich fishing, makes perfect sense to me.

-Azel : What does the water faith preach about landscaping? Our visitor has seen the gardens around the White Halls- is it something forbidden for the living to reshape a river, or possibly something sacred?

Instead of dictating strict terms about religion right now, why not say that no Water Maidens can preach in the Valley until our Speaker has met with them? A religious hero of an enemy turned ally/savior, we will then have more information and the best messenger for dealing with the water faith, whether we want to see it slowly end or see parts of it 'acquired' by the Faith of Bones.

[x] Plan Loot and only loot
-[x] Clarify the war goal of Brushcrest. If it is defense without raiding Markar then we ask for 4 units of seashell in exchange. If it is counter raid then we ask for 1.5 unit of seashell and at least 2/3 of the spoil of war.
-[x] Maintain that Greenvalley will be the sole commander of GV force, but our chosen commander will try to work with Brushcrest.

Yeah they are asking for a mercenary action, so any term deal is iffy in my view.

For me the problem is they worship things beyond Humanity. These are nonsensical things to do, and don't jive with a Humanity centric, Ancestor worshipping religion. Nevermind that I, personally don't want non human spirits or gods to exist in our society.

@natruska can you add

[] Brushcrest will not build anything north of their village or on the rivers owned by the Valley People.

So they don't build another Lakefort?

Other than that, [] Plan Jolly Cooperation is perfect.

100% agree.

No piss-water faith, only faith in Man.
