North already has a reputation for embarrassing her superior accidentally, and just did the same for a higher ranking officer on the Lily, which makes me cautious over intentionally doing the same to Mazlo regardless of how much he is willing to take credit to get off the Rose.

Like the only reason I can think of that might be worth furthering that reputation is if someone on the other side decided to be clever by making the message a top secret order that leads us into a trap using the message that Quetzle station received except whomever did it missed something important, or something where getting it done a minute, or two faster will make a difference, and the only indication that is the case is North's comment that the line between death vs survival for humans has more wiggle room than most people think.

@Gazetteer I would just like to state for the record that this vote is not for a demure and self-effacing Ensign North, but one that intends to maximize Mazlo's inevitable karmic balance. :evil:
 
The issue with both the overt, and do it yourself options is that North's superiors will be virtue of the fact she is doing something outside of her assigned job while on duty have to reprimand her in some manner regardless of the benefit of her action if for no other reason than to reinforce the importance of discipline in the Ensign fresh out of the academy.

Also a ship where the superiors allow their subordinates to do stuff outside their assigned jobs when on duty will absolutely acquire discipline issues, and given Mazlo is screwing up as a result of fatigue... hopefully he'll return the favor if we ever do a maximum overtime plan sometime in the future. Admittedly Mazlo probably won't, but you never know, and well I'd like to avoid at least a verbal reprimand.

Nobody present on the bridge has the necessary influence to help North get off the Rose... well technically Grayson will eventually due to being the son of a Duke, but only after he is assigned elsewhere, and he is a by the book officer based upon his reaction to civilians having military grade weapons.

I vote that from now on we just ignore Mazlo. It'd be easier on everyone.

I think some of you are putting too much emphasis on "credit". Credit is important in some ways, of course, but it will be rewarded when one is doing their job in a professional, ethical way. Trying to show people up and demosntrate how cool we are when that isn't what we're supposed to be doing isn't going to get us any credit, or probably even take that much away from Mazlo. It's just going to make us look bad. Again. Let's back off a bit, let Mazlo learn his mistake and adapt.

I was thinking about shaming Mazlo, if only because if he got promoted off our work it'd mean he'd sucked up our credit AND probably is about to flounder based upon being in a job that he likely doesn't have the competence for due to having gotten there by credit stealing rather then merit of his own...
But this I like more. Besides, we're the ones with a noble title, and not him. And if he wants to try and intimidate us further THAT'S when we start exposing his incompetence.

We've done this one before. Mazlo says there's nothing, we demonstrate that there is. Stick to our pattern; repeating it is just the way to make clear it's not just a fluke.

It's a simple careless mistake that Mazlo could solve if he realised. Pointing it out isn't something outstanding and makes us look like we're the glory-hound. If it were some complex problem only we could solve, I'd vote to do it ourselves since it'd save time (and our superiors would understand), but that isn't the case now.

Of course, if he still decides to be a dick about this time, I probably won't be voting responsibly the next time.

That convinced me. He's only messing up something apparently pretty simple because he's tired from working the required long hours. So, doing it ourselves doesn't really do anything other than telling people that apparently we got more sleep than he did or something.
 
Hey, so, just to clarify things here, but I am going to point out, for the sake of people who feel that correcting Mazlo out loud would come across as petty but doing it yourself would not, that this is essentially like...

Leaning over to tell your supervisor that the printer isn't plugged in, vs letting him struggle for a few moments while you do his task for him at your own desk while his boss is looking on. Both of these options will make him look bad, and one of them constitutes considerably more effort on your part to do so than the other.

If this was poorly worded question writing on my part, then I apologise.
