"Ooooh," Jun-ho says with sufficient awe and approval. Another pause, more muted gear-grinding. "But have you actually asked them yet?"
I love how Jun-ho just innocently hits on the huge huge problems with Eldingar's plans. Like the big blue dumbass has this constant thing of, like
Past Eldingar: "I am a genius!"
Future Eldingar: "Oh no! D:"
That keeps biting him in the ass. It's kinda great, it's pretty relatable and really sympathetic. Anyway I think...
[X] Take Jun-ho to search for a map-marker you remember. He was the first to show up at your spire and he's approved of the map's taste thus far, maybe he'd enjoy getting to meet a brand new boyfriend-to-be first.
--[X] The island. It's a long flight and it'll burn the rest of the day for sure, but he seems the type to relish a dive for some sunken city.
A few points: we don't actually know what Jun-ho would like in Söfnun or if he'd really enjoy anything in particular. He was pretty fun (and cute) when he was boozing it and hitting a buffet would probably be a good time, and getting a table at Dungeons and Dragons Olive Garden or something classier has possibilities but I think in any of those he'd have a good time mainly because Eldingar
himself would be at ease. The longest boi doesn't really seem to want much besides company and is pretty easily entertained (and honestly this is why retail therapy would fall a bit flat or, like, turn more on Eldingar being a dumbass, because Jun-ho is pretty consistently not super interested in material wealth). And a romantic cruise at sea, while pretty appealing, is a lot of pressure just from the context.
So with all that in mind I think that taking him to a map marker hits a few pretty crucial notes. Firstly, he seems to really really love meeting new people and making new friends (he seems to have hit it off pretty well with Makram and Abzu). Most of the map markers seem to be some kind of dungeon or something so there's usually the context of a puzzle or a cool skybox/level design to take the mind and pressure off All Of Eldingar's Problems, and Jun-ho doesn't seem like he's gotten out a lot. Hitting up new LI's tends to pretty consistently be a solid ice breaker for whoever we brought along too, Makram thawed out a
lot after meeting Abzu and having his back and forth flailfest of wits with Eldingar. And we learned a lot about Issachar at Lyrros's estate and the guy himself had a lot of fun working on the puzzles with the big blue dumbass.
Finally it's like...hrm. It's a nice callback to something that Jun-ho's said (well implied) that he does enjoy, one of the few things he's sorta brought up about himself. Taking him somewhere warmer for a swim.
"Trying to sober up?" you ask, indicating his sogginess with a flick of your head.
"Hm? Oh." He glances at you. "No I-"
"Went for a fish and slipped in?" you suggest.
"No I just tried going for a swim but that... did not pan out," he explains with a sheepish look. "Water was a lot colder than it looked."
"... what, like. For fun?" you ask.
"Mhm?"
You shoot him a look as you try to work out if he's making a joke or just being weird again. It must be the latter because he looks away again and the conversation chills about as much as Jun-ho must've when he hit the water. The wind whistles across the surface of your little lofty island, perhaps moaning something unkind about your ability to talk to people under its breath. You really should've asked the incubus guy about those 'talking to guys' lessons huh?
Most of the stuff in town is stuff that Eldingar enjoys, and I don't mean to say it's selfish or shit like that. Just that this is a pretty solid hook to have him remember something and bring it up without prompting. A nice little gesture y'know?
