Aren't we the officer commanding? We're in charge of this repair work."It is illegal for an uncertified civilian to tamper with or alter any part of an Imperial naval vessel without express clearance from the officer commanding," Guardswoman J6 says, simply.
This feels like too binary a choice. We are in a state of emergency. We do need all the help we can get. If the endorsement of the officers doing the work isn't enough to get her official permission then something is very wrong.
Ha! You ever find a system of government that is ethical and there is a Nobel Prise in it for you. See if you can come up with a fair way of handling inheritance and familial networking while you are at it.
But why would you hate the great and heroic Mazlo whose quick thinking and skillful comms work is the only reason that Princess Dawnstar is still alive? That said our 'superior' is Mazlo, who I very much want to see spaced or better yet dishonourably discharged, so maybe it isn't all that surprising.
Well, you know what they say OBE stands for: Other Buggers' Efforts. But why would you hate the great and heroic Mazlo whose quick thinking and skillful comms work is the only reason that Princess Dawnstar is still alive?
I think we can probably clear her ourself(?)Wouldn't it be possible to request that Faiza be given permission to aid in the repairs, without conscripting her?
I guess it would be, although I'm not sure what the relative cost-benefit analysis is.Wouldn't it be possible to request that Faiza be given permission to aid in the repairs, without conscripting her?
The core issue from the pov of North's superior isn't the certification, but that it isn't being done to standard as anyone brilliant enough to be able to comprehend the corner cutting of a child genius isn't going to remain on the Titanium Rose for very long from the pov of her captain, which is an issue as their replacement will more likely than not be average. This is why our QM implied that even with the approval the Princess North's superiors would be displeased with it, but they'll swallow their issues, and do their jobs as demanded by duty......
Lol, just fine her with community service i.e. more work
After getting her cert and a paycheck
Does the "non-standard repairs" count as cert?
I don't see it as half-assing it. We didn't know it was happening, when we did we stopped it, but considering our current situation we deemed it best to not undo any of the repairs already done. So a compromise, just less of one than option 3.

More for the benefit of North's conscience that the kid's.I mean, her old life was hanging out on Phoebe station and helping her dad who may or may not be dead fix robots, so...
