Takara, I love you.

Real money now, gold later.

[X] The bearer bonds. The idea disgusts you as a dragon on every conceivable level, but Takara does have a point that it's more value per pound, and by design you can use them for whatever the fuck you want by virtue of holding them in your hand.

everyone thinks eldy is cute, including the players

"oh my god he thinks that being a dragon makes him inherently threatening that's adorable I want a plushie."
The Eldingar plushie trade is a booming business but a dangerous one. The excistance of these plushies must be kept from Eldingar at all cost to avoid him going beserk
Or sulking
Or both.
Honestly, I pretty much assumed that was what was going on the moment we got to see Eldingar's human disguise.

I mean, major trade city. Having a dragon investing in one of your merchant houses is a big boon - it means that other dragons who raid you or your shipping are implicitly stealing from the dragon who invested in you.

And Eldingar is short on unfortunate habits, from the city's point of view; doesn't eat people, doesn't try to micromanage their operations, doesn't even raid the lightning farms that often.
Eldingar, as a dragon, is more a boon to the city then a pest. The worst he does is prevent people from building to close to his house and stealing a lightning bolt or two.
That is it.
Eldingar is very lazy and harmless if not angered.
And as we have shown here even if you hurt him like the Russos he won't go all dragon on you but instead steal your money with a sexy shapeshifter.
Because Eldingar doesn't know how to dragon.
Actually, yes.
Why did they think it's a good idea to cross the dragon?

Because even when they were his accountant Eldringar literally had no idea who they were?
Elingar sucks at being a dragon and is extremely lazy and everyone knows it.
That or it is not an open secret and Takara was being hyperbole.

Actually, yes.
Why did they think it's a good idea to cross the dragon?
Because Eldi's a shut-in with a two-second attention span?

I'm not saying he's dumb he just, doesn't notice things.

Anyway

Let's break the bank in a few centuries

Eldingar: "Aww, bearer bonds, I wanted gold!"
Eldingar's brain: "Bearer bonds can be used to buy many gold."
Eldingar: "Explain how."
Eldingar's brain: "Money can be exchanged for goods and services!"
...okay, this won me over. Switching vote.

[X] The magic items. Sniff it out with that beautiful dragon nose of yours and stuff it all in the bag. What's valuable will be worth a lot and what's not will at least entertain you with its gimmicks.

Anyway, I'm not 100% sure whether Takara was exaggerating when they said that 'everyone knew' but now I'm just imagining Eldingar calling a board meeting and both him and the rest of the merchant house sort of dancing around the issue with a whole lot of I know you know that I know sorts of thing before his new secretary is like "FINE we knew you were a dragon all along can we just MOVE ON now?!"

Also, on the subject of what hurts the Rossos most, I'm pretty sure they're going to be most harmed by us taking the MOST VALUABLE thing, not the most identifiable thing, because like.... They've got this shit in a hoard. They aren't flashing it around in public, and we won't be, either.

Alright, I will throw my hat in the ring, now that I have perfection.
You people are right, bearer bonds is the sane and safe option.
Didn't pick this option because its hillarious and in character?
It would fit more for Elingar to not pick the bonds, out of spite and because they should not be

Voting for the for two reasons
A) Its the one closests to the damn 16 the bonds have
B) There is a chance there is something like Makrams lamp there (probally not another Djin but some other form of item sealed husbando)

Highly doubtful, since with only a standard grade light in the city, and the way we've been ogling Takara, I'm near certain the romantic candidate for the area is them.

Did you see what happened to the other dragon whose hoard consisted of business and estate based assets? Do Not Want. I mean, I want the Dragonslayer, but not for our dragon to be slain.
I'm pretty sure he got slain because he actually literally ate the help, not because he was a business magnate. And if being involved in business is enough, well, we've been doomed from the start of the quest then lol

Wasn't that dragon a bag of dicks? Granted, we don't know a whole lot about the Dragonslayer so your point might stand.

Disagree.

For one thing, paper money is, by its nature, ephemeral and interchangeable. Magical artefacts, on the other hand, tend to be unique and rare. Stuff the Rossos have locked in their vault is highly likely to be one-of-a-kind.

For another thing, we absolutely will be showing off our stolen goods - we are stealing to keep the House afloat, which means auctioning this off or fencing it. Which means the Rossos will be smacked in the face by the realization that the idiot dragon they thought would be an easy mugging made an absolute joke of their security systems and is now selling off some of their most valued items like lemonade.

And bear in mind that the reputation hit for House Rosso comes with a reputation gain for House Elding - it will be a very loud statement that stealing from the dragon does not come without consequences.

TL; DR: it stands to reason to humiliate the Rossos and reinstate the reputation of Eldingar and House Elding. Stealing the magical items accomplishes this.
