Eh, I doubt they will fall. Titanium Rose's situation is bad enough that Perbeck is going to go out and 'recruit' a replacement.
Pray it isn't us.

e: "Revenge on your traitor mother" is pretty dark. I liked the interplay with Anja, though, and the bits about the tracker necklace.

Yeah, sorry, it's an either or thing I didn't write out very well. I'll keep that in mind for the future.

This is a good blend. The second one will win us some points with Perbeck, which would be very nice to have, and overall means that we continue to do work, which is important when the ship is in such dire straits- everybody needs to be chipping in, especially when the scans are so important. However we should have a blend of work and relaxation here; overexerting ourselves isn't going to do us much good either. So let's chill with our friend and maybe learn more about them in the process.

A thing we need to keep in mind if we want to survive is how we relate to the mecha anime we're a character in. Since the likelihood of us ever achieving main cast status is minimal to nonexistent, our goal needs to be to give ourselves enough characterization from the viewer's perspective that we can't be casually killed off in the background, but not so much characterization as to make our death meaningful without derailing the plot.

What our exact actions should be depends a lot on whether the main character is Lt. Ito or the hypothetical new pilot of the late Ensign Song's mech.

This just makes me hope that Ito's the main character and that we almost never interact with him directly, but we're in nearly every scene we can be in anyway. Ito and Anja are talking, and Amani's nearby, having walked there with her best friend. Amani's there helping Perbeck with her mecha's scanner as a background detail when Ito comes to talk to the countess. When it's revealed on-screen that the refugee girl is a natural mecha pilot, Amani's right there. Any shot of the bridge has us sitting there with important scan data. The sort of character who has a name but otherwise receives little focus but still manages to be tangentially involved in so many scenes that fans start making conspiracy theories.

It's the superhero mask logic/ rule of drama.
If we're an extra we just do our job and everything is okay.
If we're the hero's girl friend we can expect to...
Given the genre probably end up in a mech of our own, maybe end up a damsel in distress, and other shenanigans.
...Then again if we make this a harem genre...

She's a female protag on a non-dynastic SV quest. That gives us a precisely 76.72% (a number generated through a precise scientific calculation that is no way pulled from my butt) chance of having a female love interest, assuming there is a love interest. :V

Talk about main cast status,

Do we have child soldier underage teenage pilot waiting to be picked from the refugees? The complete noob that somehow able to maneuver Mech without proper training and survive a war with only gut and hormones boost.

It's nice to have this type of character, they bring a heavy plot armor with them
