I'm going to call the voting at 10pm EST and get typing.
I hope to have it posted tonight or tomorrow, but it may come as late as Saturday. I have a company function that while not mandatory included the boss's boss personally telling people he "Hoped to see them there at least the 1st night". Being smarter than a bag of hammers, I can recognize some cues.

It was the work of mere weeks to relocate from the shore to the abandoned settlement to the south. Upon your arrival, you were pleased to learn the scouts had overstated the extent of the decay. The palisade while dry rotted in numerous locations is standing strong, as were numerous buildings. Industrious heimin have already cleared numerous wells and those buildings with too much damage to be salvageable have already begun disassembly. More surprising was the discovery of the many cellars and underground chambers, most of which have survived with little damage. Within a few, stockpiles of supplies hidden away by the previous occupants were even discovered. A large portion of your population is able to dwell within these subterranean quarters immediately, allowing the demolition above to proceed at pace. Gathered before you now are those you felt would best assist you in guiding the future of your new home. Tension Lowered due to Housing, +5 Units Stone, +5 Units Metal
Young and fresh of feature, Akodo Junko perches on the brim of a camp chair watching the movements of all around her with an almost feline intensity. An adviser for less than a fortnight, she has already begun drilling the few ashigaru forces at your disposal. Whispers of complaint have reached your ears, to which she is often heard reply; "Better to bleed in training than to fail in battle." Ashigaru Unit Quality Raised from Poor to Mediocre
On the chambers farthest side from the militant samurai-ko, reclines your majordomo. Kakita Ichirou, rest on a fine mat of tatami, positioned by his personal servant, resting his elbow on a silken pillow. Calmly sipping tea, an increasing rarity in the camp, from a polished cup of porcelain; he offers you a faint smile. Upon your arrival to this settlement, the courtier had appeared a mass of nerves and energy, tutting over the gaijin architecture and complaining of the barbarity of the harsh designs. In the days since, he has directed teams of heimin with almost a frantic energy too remove the unsightly ruins and cut back the overgrowth. The whims of fate and fortune will not halt the pursuit of perfection. +250 Timber, + 100 Stone, +2 food
At his shoulder sits the other Crane within your circle, your new diplomatic aide; Doji Hiroki. While rumblings about his inexperience and lack of ability have been heard from some of the old guard among the courtiers, his peers are ecstatic to have one of their own at your side. The upwelling of support has even led to a number of the younger samurai officially petitioning to join your clan. With his white hair tied loosely back, Hiroki seems poised to grab the new opportunity he has been presented. After all, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Increased Discontent among "Old Guard" courtiers, Large increase in Support from Young Blood Samurai, +10 Clan members
Sitting cross legged to the side of the room, the elder monk Komori Ryuu has settled himself into your council. Often he would appear in odd locations to make simple if obsucre statement before disappearing from view once backs are turned. The knowledge that the accepted spiritual leader of the Rokugani could appear from any side street has led to the courtiers making a competition of listing the oddest meetings with the eccentric shugenja. To your disquiet, his messages have even developed the habit of being delivered to your attention by bat kami in the evening hours. Rokugani Tensions Reduced, New Court Game: Spot the Monk
Your loyal mistress of shinobi, Rinkusu Ran has claimed a low bench along the back wall as her own personal throne. Stretched back along the bench with her arm across an upraised knee, her smug expression is almost hidden behind the sweet smoke of her tobacco. Not one to rest idle, she and her sisters have lain claim to the ruins of what appears to have once been a large inn. While appearing to be dilapidated from without; on her brief tour, you found the inside to be in fine condition. Wood paneled floors and sturdy dark walls make up the two-story structure that the woman have taken to calling the "House of Sweet Mercies." From this secure seat, her subordinates have taken to hosting the samurai of the city with drink and food; as well as other less discussed delights. Looking down from the walls at the golden fields surrounding the town, you shiver in the chill northern wind. These months have been a trying time for your young clan. A long look over your shoulders reveals the heartwarming site of your new home. Instead of rubble and wild foliage, a small taste of home has arisen. Using local materials, Kakita Ichirou has created a masterpiece from the ruins. Gravels streets with raised wooden walkways, numerous courtyards, and polished wooden wall form carefully manicured districts before you back-dropped by curls of smoke and lit by numerous hung lanterns. Inter-spaced with residential dwellings for the growing number of families are numerous sake houses and theaters. Meanwhile, beyond the walls, scouts have been busily mapping the nearby forests and fields for their use in future training grounds. This astounding achievement of renovation was completed within the first two months of the season; sadly this was some of the only truly good news of the season. Major tension reduction across all groups, Pre-constructed Living Space Expansion, Major Reduction in Disease Chances, Removal of Exposure Risk, Field of Tears Progresses with No Delay, Ascetics Mater Completed in One Season
Junko, while not unsuccessful in repairing the walls, found far difficulty in her tasks this season then expected. Whether the troubles were there prior to Ichirou construction efforts or if his work crews caused the ground to shift. For nearly the entirety of the first two months of the season, every stretch of wall repaired another found itself canted sharply to the side or fallen into the grown itself. Eventually Junko chose to assault the problem with a Lion's typical subtlety. You recall weeks of effort by shirtless peasants tearing down the original walls by brute force, only to bury the resulting rubble and wastage from your deconstructed ships on site. On this now stable surface, new walls were then raised. Rising to a height of twenty feet and wide enough for a small palanquin to ride the protected top. The new gates are formed from the decks of a pair of the wrecked transports, near a foot and a half thick. Overlaid with the deck gratings salvaged from other ships, any entering the first gate is met shortly by a second pair of large doors. The final result of her months of labor were solid and well laid, but came at the cost of far more material cost. Construction Costs Tripled (60 Timber), Settlement Secure, Walls Strengthened and Repaired, Gate Replaced
Casting you eyes towards Junko's stout gatehouse, you can't help but wince at the sight of Ryuu's shrine. You wonder if perhaps the spirits appeased by Ran in the early days had been far more fickle then those at home. The small stone structure prominently placed by the gates is the fourth such structure constructed in as many months. The first was a simple wooden shrine that caved into the cellar that it had been unknowingly constructed on. Following the shrine caught fire in the nights that followed. The third somehow managed to collapse into the previously filled cellar, causing the death of one of the heimin constructing it. Following the tragedy Ryuu was sighted meditating within the ruined structure for days on end. Upon his leaving the rubble, the monk directed the heimin to use rubble from the settlement itself in the forming of the final shrine. Days of purification and ritual followed, as Ryuu appeased the kami once again. Local Kami appeased, Shrine Constructed, Tensions Lowered
Approaching through the streets, you observe Doji Hiroki continuing his attempt to organize your court. The large bruise covering most of his left eye attests to how successful he has been to date. At every turn, Hiroki has faced opposition. Ranging from subtle snubs to doors in his face, Hiroki has even found himself pulled into a number of duels. Each of the varied factions has developed individual gathering places throughout the settlement. The De-Dana and the Ippon have grown closer over the summer and have begun to congregate at on of the new Noh theaters along the Western wall. The Fusegu on the other hand have occupied a sake house along the Northern wall. The only faction to listen to Hiroki's appeals were the Han-Geki. Often meeting within a inn by the Southwestern walls, they at have accepted him in the role of your personal voice among the other samurai. Seeing the dismissal received from the old guard in particular, they have even begun to rally around Hiroki. Establish a Court is Locked for Another Season, Internal Divisions Increased, Han-Geki United Behind Lynx Clan.
It is good the Junko got some use out of the ships that Ichirou directed to be scrapped. When teams of men began disassembling the wrecks and most damaged of the ships still afloat, Ichirous was forced to report much of the scrap was worthless. Rusted fittings, waterlogged and rotted cordage, and worm infested wood, these were the fruits of the heimin's initial labors. In the end, they cleared a long strech of the landing beaches; gathering what could be reused or reworked and disposing of the useless portions in nearby ravine. Wrecked and Heavily Damaged Ships Salvaged, 1/3rd of Potential Material Worthless, Gain 60 Iron, 140 Timber, 40 Cordage
"Rinkusu-dono, I'm ashamed to disappoint." Memory of Sakura's soft whisper comes back to you as you stroll towards the House of Sweet Mercy. As Ichirou deconstructed the town, she and her sisters dug through the rubble for what scraps of information. Following the search of the upper levels of the settlement, sisters were tasked to search the undercity and the surrounding fields. It wasn't til a month had gone by that the disappearance of Rinkusu Kaho, onw of the youngest of the sisters. Last seen entering into the northeastern cellars by the newly sunk walls, Sakura and her sisters found themselves distracted from their original task. Aside from some odd symbols carved into a lintel alongside a shattered door and an odd track hardened into the mud, no other solid details were uncovered. Odd Tracks Found, Strange Markings, Rinkusu Kaho Missing; New Intrigue and Learning Options Available
As you walk the steps into the budding geisha house, a smile crosses your face. Despite all the other setbacks of this season, on crop did bloom in full. When you went forth to find learned samurai and curious minds, you did not expect the abundance that was hidden in this far flung colony. Perhaps small minds and feeble hearts chose not to face the journey; or maybe the kami chose to sweep from the decks those for whom the fire of the mind guttered. And your chosen adviser will be waiting within, ready for their first real test.
[] Kuni Fumiya His laughter at the shock on you face when you saw his elaborate Noh face-paint filled the small chamber. Sitting next to a low table, the gaunt shugenja seemed perfectly at home surrounded by warded scrolls and pinned up dissections of goblins and oni. The macabre setting was offset by the fine tea set provided you. It wasn't until half way through your discussions on the events of the season that you noted, the cup in you hand was crafted of jade.
