[X] Shoot down the Corrosive Torpedo. (30% chance damage to Allies and Blue Steel reputation loss)
Mathematically speaking this is the best choice:
Now look at the penalties we face if we flub things:
So considering Surcouf is rather mercenary and ultimately in it for herself (and Mary) the most reasonable choice is shooting down the Corrosive Torpedo since it has the best chances of us walking away scott free and even if we do get unlucky it still has the most tolerable penalty.
*I'm assuming anyway that WFA loss means it's actually destroyed like much of our other equipment currently is. If it's just temporarily disabled (IE: "Shields are down!") this calculus changes a lot.
Mathematically speaking this is the best choice:
Nuke: 0% chance of No Penalty
Both: 25% chance of No Penalty
Corrosive: 70% chance of No Penalty
So shooting down the Corrosive Torpedo gives us the best chance, by a massive margin, of walking out of this situation with no damage or reputation loss. Both: 25% chance of No Penalty
Corrosive: 70% chance of No Penalty
Now look at the penalties we face if we flub things:
Nuke: 100% chance of WFA loss
Both: 75% chance of major equipment loss
Corrosive: 30% chance of Blue Steel rep loss
Obviously the worst possible outcome is major equipment loss since we're talking about sinking levels of damage. WFA meanwhile is literally our only defense and it's loss* would leave Surcouf and Mary highly vulnerable going forwards. Loosing reputation with Blue Steel would certainly hurt but we have lots of avenues to restore that and it's not like there aren't other factions we can buddy up with if necessary. Both: 75% chance of major equipment loss
Corrosive: 30% chance of Blue Steel rep loss
So considering Surcouf is rather mercenary and ultimately in it for herself (and Mary) the most reasonable choice is shooting down the Corrosive Torpedo since it has the best chances of us walking away scott free and even if we do get unlucky it still has the most tolerable penalty.
