Right.
So I guess I should stop dancing around, and actually propose a vote.
The lease itself isn't a terrible idea. Several of us want it just to have something to work with. It gives the group relief, it lets us be more engaged with them, and better understand the direction we want them to take. We don't want to decide the lives of seven people on Maiko's minute-long summary of their conundrum and Konno's assesment of it.
What most of us seem to object to is Konno's possible intentions to use it to advance her position.
So, a very rough draft would be...
[ ] Yes, agree to the lease, set terms (angle the conditions so you get to know these people)
[ ] The lease is terminated if they start something. It is meant as help, not as a tool to promote anyone's interests. Which is why we will take it to their leader.
[ ] If she is worried Furuhata will stonewall the decision (no she's not, she just wants the credit), we can just make the terms public so that her group could decide on this together.
Agree to the offer, but explicitly forbid its use as a political tool, and set the conditions to that effect.
You don't even need her to agree to it, if you want to go through with the plan.
Edit: hmm. SystemicHatter seems to have beat me to it.
Well, we've been at it all day. I don't know if we will think of anything much better.
