    They caught me just as I finished my latest splurge of work. Which is also why I'm working on an update for our quest right now. I'm also given to understand that supervisor moderators are more like community councilors than actual moderators, so... ^_^;

    Because smiling is nice~ More pertinently, as I'm sort of perpetually insecure about whether or not people understand the tone in which I'm speaking with, emoticons allows me to compensate for my inability to use body language and actual facial expressions on the internet. ^_^;

    ...Of course, since my prevailing expression seems to be "smile sheepishly with a sweatdrop", I'm not entirely sure this matters, but... XD

Even without the necessary contest, your writing is really, really good! I especially enjoy your dialogue... gosh, I wanna run a Quest like this one, you know?     Reading yet another of your interesting worldbuilding bits while shopping for supplementary literature on semantics, I am struck by the thought that if you ever feel like considering the languages of Ivalice and neighbours, I would be happy to provide my technical knowledge!

    Really, I just like talking about my field, so PM me with questions about linguistics whenever and I'll see if I can't dredge up an answer! :)

    Linguistics is the study of language in a general sense. Where specific language fields obviously seek to describe their own language, linguistics seeks to describe the underlying systems. It's quite broad, going from sound production and all the way up to notions of meaning in language. There's also a lot of crossover with other fields.

    Frankly, none of this is probably /relevant/ in any real sense for the Quest, but I really like language, and it's often interesting to consider. The most relevant parts are probably Ivalician dialects and language contact with the neighbours.

    Well, that happened. And rather faster than I anticipated too. There is so much interesting stuff over at SB I have yet to read. :( On a more positive note, something nice - namely this forum - came out of that whole mess, so it could have been much, much worse.

    If you are looking into an avatar change, may I recommend Tactics Ogre artwork? Both the original and PSP remake have some very nice protraits (not always so below the neckline, but we are talking about avatars, right?) with glorious sweeping wide brims on their witches' hats. :D
