I'm not so sure about the Null at the end being a problem. Depending on what we find out the list could end with a "normal" storage space. Like a specialized node...
So... I've been thinking about linked lists as it relates to sealing (which is to say: pointers). Linked list - Wikipedia
So, when you use a storage scroll the "object" gets stored and saved in some pocket of unknown space and the seal then becomes a way to access that pocket in space...
