Valkyrie Quest (Honkai Impact 3rd)

[X][KIDNAP] You were rescued by Theresa Apocalypse from the belly of Babylon Labs. A "test subject" without a name. They'd had you for weeks, and you know very well the only reason the Overseer's granddaughter even found you was Sirin wiping the facility clean. Given you're training at Schicksal Headquarters now rather than at the school she took you to originally... well, you've clearly had your disagreements.
[X][STIGMATA] You had a weak, minor, natural Stigmata that only granted Honkai Resistance... and worse, the bloody thing keeps interfering with your artificial one in unpredictably frustrating ways. Quite frankly, you're barely a Valkyrie.
[X][ASOCIAL] It's a side-effect, apparently, from your Stigmata's activation. Memory muddled, emotions muted. The only thing distinctly remembered is that burning desire to live. You struggle with emotional cues and body language, favouring the most direct interpretations. Put politely, you're blunt as heck.
[X][BONUS] Most B-Rank graduates don't get to play with the more advanced weaponry, but cannoneers are rare in the Valkyrie forces. You have an in with the Mikoyan Design Bureau. Most lasers are a 'maintained contact' design requiring a target to be continuously painted. Yours is more of a violent pulse. More immediately and reliably destructive, but it puts a strain on your Output.
[X][ROLE] Melee. Yes, it's a giant laser cannon. Yes, you fight in melee with it. Your point, kind sir?

Kinda want punch lasers fists. Eventually.
Man, these animations did not age well, but I figure this is closer to what we might look like in melee, at least for now.

Which, tbf, still sounds amazing. Wailing honkai beasts and zombies in the face with our cannon while fire blasts at point blank as we swing it and ourself around using them.

But I ain't the QM, its just we don't exactly have a Project-Bunny to mount these things onto, which means we're carrying them around in some fashion.

All problems can be solved if we just find a way to rocket jump with our laser cannon somehow.

If Rita isn't our personal handler I would bet she's still pretty close by in some way.
Valid for somewhere down the line but right after becominga valk?
No, simply because at this point Rita isn't a part of Schiksal yet...forgot when she joined but I thiiink it was somewhere in the 2000-2010 period...
Also we might be running into anime timeline issues because Himeko's superior officer/mentor died in the Second Eruption. Which would solidly place her as older than us, though only by a couple of years maybe
Actually no.
2nd eruption was in 2000
Ragna died in 2010

haha I live

If that's the case, then going to Saint Freya shouldn't even be on the table then? Because Theresa only establishes Saint Freya after the whole deal with K-423, which happens around 2007-9ish. So there's no real reason for us to go to the Far East Branch. I don't think Schicksal is the type of organization that let's its rank and file pick their deployments anyway.

Just because we chose the "become Valkyrie ASAP" motivation in character doesn't mean that we, the players, want our character to be 11 when the incident happened. Like, she could be younger and spent time preparing to be a Valkyrie without being officially recruited. I dunno, I just kinda want interactions with Rita and Durandal. It was a pretty big factor in why I voted for Schicksal.

Also, I'm pretty sure the "graduating" aspect is exclusive to Saint Freya since it doubles as a school, and not just a military organization. Durandal and Rita enter the Quantum Sea and save a bubble universe at the age of 14 because Schicksal was short handed and they were the only ones capable of undertaking the mission.

'Graduating' was the best term I could come up with for 'passed basic training', in this particular case. Like yeah, Schicksal are callous with their valks but they're not that dumb (I also made a slight mistake with '16 is min grad. age'; Ana was 16 when she became A Rank). Equally, we can speedrun the younger years if folks want. I just don't want to completely ignore them, since Honkai's greatest strength is how its characters develop over time. Early Kiana was a complete brat, you may recall and even Himeko was a very different person when she enlisted compared to when we first meet her.

I thought Theresa established St. Freya after Cecilia's death (ie so 2000-ish)? Founding it in response to K-423 doesn't add up, we've seen St. Freya ingame and it's frickin' huge. If you want a younger start then you'd presumably have been in Theresa's care longer (and the break that put you in Shicksal HQ is liable to be uglier) and I'd need to double-check when exactly St. Freya was founded - it is, annoyingly, not listed in either of the wikis, so it's either in the 2E manga or the Theresa chronicles missions. Ana Schariac is also the closest we've got to a 'normal valkyrie' right up until she er, wasn't, so I'm going to be double-checking the text files you unlock in those chapters.

Voting remains open while I look stuff up.

Yeah, I rechecked my sources, and I think I might've misread them. Annoyingly, I can't find any information on when Freya was actually founded.

Also. Yes. Pump that drama into my veins please. :D

Seriously though. It could lead to interesting dynamics with the other St. Freya girls, not to mention that I'd be interested in what could cause such an ugly break to begin with.

I feel like the only thing that makes sense is ...

Our character must have become too cute.

If there were a legitimate threat to TeriRi's World's #1 Cutie status, who knows what she might be capable of? What rage might drive her to do?

Better to exit the blast radius swiftly, I imagine; and flee somewhere comparatively safe, like into the clutches of Theresa's mad scientist grandfather.

On the one hand this is hilarious...
...
On the other...if that actually happened we done goofed.
As long as it doesn't directly interfere with his plans the man is an incredibly doting grandfather...if we were a threat to Teriri, then Grandpa Otto would have...taken care of it...
(I am convinced that the various Theresa dolls mentioned in Kolosten are his designs)
...
...on the third hand he may have wanted a break between our character and Theresa so he could raise up and train a motivator for Theresa/ a Teriri herder down the line and the man knows he won't live forever

Micro-vote on The Theresa Question
Yeah, I rechecked my sources, and I think I might've misread them. Annoyingly, I can't find any information on when Freya was actually founded.

I know, right?!

It's not in the wiki or timelines, I just checked the 2E manga and there's no mention of it there (though I did get the colour of the flowers Cecilia scattered wrong; they were red, not white; first post has been corrected accordingly). I swear there was something about Theresa wanting a better approach to training Valks as early as the 80s/90s from her Chronicles missions but I can't remember the exact specifics.

/some trawling the Chronicles later...

aw heck you were actually right the first time. Theresa did found St. Freya in response to Siegfried breaking out Kiana and K-423.

This is literally the only reference I have and the Chronicle itself is... kind of a mess tbh (there are a lot of misspelt names and typos going around: 'Ssessilia' for Cecilia, 'Theresa Apokalpyse' etc). First time I played through this as a newbie was before I'd gotten to the HoV reveal and before I read the 2E comic, so all of this flew straight over my head at the time.

(On review, Otto having no clue why Seig would bother to rescue K-423 and assuming Anti Entropy is somehow involved is admittedly hilarious)

This actually simplifies matters to some degree, since it would appear Theresa was still at Schicksal HQ up until 2009. (also, fun fact, this means the Hyperion is actually older than St. Freya Academy; it was built in 2006)

I kind of want to call the vote but at the same time, I was operating on the belief St. Freya was founded in the aftermath of the Second War.

Tell you what, I'll lock the vote character creation pt.2 now and put up a quick micro-vote:

Regarding the Theresa situation:

[ ][FOUNDING] Theresa founds St. Freya in 2001, in the aftermath of the Second Eruption
[ ][FOUNDING] Theresa founds St. Freya in 2009, as a bribe to rejoin Schicksal after covering Seigfried's escape

[ ][AGE] You were 12 at the time of the Eruption and became a Valkyrie as soon as you could after recovering.
- You and Theresa have met (obviously), and if St. Freya founds in 2009 you'll still know each other, but there's no dramatic break between you.
- Not joining St. Freya if it founds in 2001 is more justified, since it presumably wasn't built overnight. Theresa might be a bit hurt you didn't transfer though.
- Himeko's age group, roughly
- Would be as old as Sirin would be were she still alive
[ ][AGE] You were ~8 at the time of the Eruption and was in Theresa's care for four years before becoming a Valkyrie in 2004.
- Technically, Theresa would have put you (and the other rescued survivors) in with someone else but popped in regularly because of her obligations. She'd be your tiny pseudo-aunt.
- If St. Freya exists at this time, some dramatic break is required to not go there instead of Schicksal Headquarters; presumably Theresa thinks you're a suicidal lunatic.
- If St. Freya does not exist, Theresa is still 'wtf are you doing niece' but its much more low-key

-oh right crap I should post the actual tally ONE SEC-

Character Creation pt.2 Results:

[KIDNAP] Babylon Labs: 14+12+1 = 27

[KIDNAP] Coincidence: 3

[ASOCIAL] Side-effect: 14+3 = 17
[ASOCIAL] Blame peers: 11+1 = 12
[ASOCIAL] Shy: 1
[ASOCIAL] Nothing Personal: 1

[STIGMATA] Natural Only: 13+4 = 17
[STIGMATA] Nat. + Artificial: 1
[STIGMATA] Wonky Natural: 11+2 = 13

[BONUS] Cannon: 15+15 = 30
[BONUS] Fly: 1

[ROLE] Walls: 10+3 = 13
[ROLE] Melee: 9+6 = 15
[ROLE] Punch High: 2
[ROLE] Anti-armour: 1

With regards to St. Freya..

Originally it was Cecilia's brainchild. Thanks to a combo of her early life (raised as a valk without knowing much about normal life before meeting Ziggy) and Kiana being born, she wanted to set up a place where Valks can be trained but also experience normal life.
And she wanted Theresa as a teacher there.
-info from chapter 28

And by 2010 St Freya was up and running considering Himeko transferred there after Ragna died

"Teriri, too cringe"

The real reason Otto kidnapped Kiana and wiped her memories.

Edit: I wonder how many of our colleagues will call us the suicidal idiot running in front of everyone else.
