The Blood of the Sand, Sun and Stars (No SV...You are in Kenshi)

The Dust Bandits were formed when the Old Town Guard of the Hub Turned to banditary after the sacking of the city sixty years ago.

Unlike every bandit group in the Borderlands, they are militaristic and well entrenched and organized, though the quality of their organization has suffered as the Old Guard of the group pass onto the next generation.

The manpower of the Organization is very cut and dry, if you are skilled you are recruited, if not...you are robbed and left to die.

Simple policy...pay or die.

Takeover of the Hub Stats
Powerbase/Army: Three
Wealth: Poor
Food Supply: Nonexistent
Dust King Powerbase: Absolute
Chance of Successful Hub Takeover: 4%

-----------------------------------------

You looked at the group of people in the House and counted the coins slowly. "Alright...made a small profit off what we have, Nothing major."

You looked into the food store and sighed. "Still barely enough."

Hobbs was keeping the Peace...or as much peace as he could...people didn't like that very much, so there were disputes over food, bedding and other things.

Ruka had gotten into fights with the locals, called her craven and nearly got into a fight in the bar.

But the day is not exactly going well. It did Indeed get worse.

-------------------------------------------------

"BUILDER!! The King wishes to speak to you!! Do not keep him waiting!!" A Man shouted as you looked over some of the food reports.

You clasped a few blades to you, knives, your sword and other such things...it would be no use to even try to assassinating him...he always expected someone like you to return here.

The Dust king was about your height if not a little bigger. He wore a basic heart protector and helmet with an armored skirt.

You didn't bow, nor spit in his sight. No you just stared at him with all the apathy you could muster. It was hard, oh by Okran it was hard to just let him stand in your city.

"What do you want? If it's money we are low, If its food, we're out and if its slaves…" You calmly put a hand on your sword. "Your not having it."

The King laughed at you as the dozens of men laughed with him "He is an ambitious one...your the first man to actually have the balls to refuse me!!"

In a flash you moved like you had never moved before. He wasn't trying to kill you...the strike would have killed you if he did.

It took under a minute for him to shatter your defence as he held your neck at swordpoint.

He looked at you as the standoff seemed to reach its climax. He then bashed you in the face and spat on you.

You for your own part, didn't scream in pain, or in fear or in suffering.

The Sheer indifference in your eyes told him everything.

You did not see him as a person, ideal or story...he was nothing but another corpse that needed to be burned to keep the bone dogs from attacking the farm.

He was nothing to you. Just as he saw you as nothing, you would see him as nothing.

Then the Dust King smiled. "Keep building my city up...builder, when it's done, I'll be sure to feed you to the dogs at an age that is old enough to be missed."

So...that was his plan then, let others do all the work, take it and then break it when he's through.

He didn't deserve it, he didn't put his blood and sweat into it, he was nothing more than a thief.

You make sure he would die a thief.

One day.

I feel like actions could use a trim. We own a house, so we should already have as much rest bonus from that as from kicking vagrants out of our old spot, for example. Even if we don't have bedding, just replace it with a action to furnish the place.

You were blessed this day, Fish, Shellfish and seaweeds were all found. But that was not the only thing you did that day.

You met a group of a dozen or so starving bandits...instead of fighting or running away you calmly sat and waited. They surrounded you, poor bastards.

The leader looked shocked at your audacity. "What are you DOING!!"

"I am making you food, cooked shellfish, herrings and a few cooked seaweed wraps, sit be my guest." You said calmly as he looked at you.

"Your planning something aren't you!! You're leading us into a trap!!" He shouted at you.

"Would you like tea with that or boiled water?" You asked as the group looked at you in awe.

"If you are half as smart as you are starving you would take my offer." You noted and the man and his desperate band joined you.

-----------------------

The Leader looked at you as you pulled up a net of small crabs and then looked at a stergion. "Shit this is good eating." You nodded and looked.

"So who were you before all this." You asked as you looked at one of them. "If any of you know how to cook, prep it."

You nodded to the man and poured some tea. "I was a fisherman believe it or not, fished the eastern coast for crab...big ones on a boat with ballistas, and did some net fishing on the side, then the famine hit and I lost everything to the taxman and nobility. "

You nodded. "So...ever fished the west coast?"

"I know a few good spots on the west coast...by the fog lands...pretty nasty but the good stuff is there." He said.

"So...how would you like a life back. I'm not offering much...but it's something." You offered.

"Names Alax by the way…" He said. "You just saved a clan of 70 people from starvation." Alax said as he took a cup and took a drink.

"When dinner is ready...I have something to say." Alax said.

--------------------------------------------------------
"For too long we have been abused...for too long the Nobles of the United Cities have used and abused us taking our food, our livelihood and our property!! But this man, a builder!! Has given it back!! We will build our home under his protection, For he's done more for us in a day then the Nobles have done in a Thousand years!!! I would pledge my blade to him for feeding my kinsman. Aye!!"

"AYE!!!" They shouted.

The house was not going to fit them all.

Reward: Food supply raised to Poor levels. Alax Recruited. +70 soldiers /Workers.

+2 Diplomacy, +2 Stewardship.

-[x] Recruit in Squin: Squin is your closest Neighbor, it is also a small hub for trade, ever since the Hub was destroyed.Reward: Recruits and Unique NPC's Rolled:1D100 => 82

Kang the Shek looked at the warrior who came into the City. "So I heard you are an old soldier who can lead, train and fight."

"Indeed...Indeed. Why have you come flatskin?" He asked as you shrugged.

"I am looking for soldiers, not warriors, for a little project of mine interested?" You asked.

"My skills are wasted here...and what do you plan on doing?" He asked.

"I'm gonna take the Hub and then I'm going to kill the Dust King in a war. Interested?" You said calmly.

He signed on not a moment later, along with a few other men.

Huh, copper is in now it seems. Also we can likely risk taking over Hub or random bandits, gotta do something for low grade weapons and armor.

Huh, copper is in now it seems.
If anyone who played Keshi can tell you...mine copper for the first week or more.
Also we can likely risk taking over Hub or random bandits
The Hub still has a way to go but it can be done with a few bonuses.
gotta do something for low grade weapons and armor.
You can make your own armor and weapons you know.

Would the characters allow captured dust bandits/bandits to be used as a punching bag or something in order to improve our forces combat skill?

You calmly finished looking around the Communal area of the Station house, "Alright is the soup ready?"

Alex nodded. "Fish soup, no bones for a man like you. So, what madness are you willing to do."

"I think we are almost Ready to take control...of the city and a few roads, but we're still outnumbered by the hundreds of men the King has at his disposal. Our defences are lacking and we have nothing in terms of an army." You said.

"Then make them an army." Kang said as you looked at him. "You hold sway over them...USE it to make a force that will drive them into the dust they claim to rule."

You looked at him with a hint of disaproval. "You think a military is a blunt intrument...do you. I do not want warriors like the celts or the Germanic tribes, I want soldiers...SOLDIERS NOT WARRIORS win wars of attrition. I need to keep logistics in mind, how best to equip them and how best to deploy them in this hell."

You were not ready for a war...not truely.

And the Dust King ever pragmatic knew that.

And the fact he was smart enough to know that terrified you.

What about a option to try to sow dissent somehow? Just a thought. I mean, if we can recruit from amongst our enemies, we weaken them AND strengthen us at the same time, maybe even get the advantage of surprise. Surely some of the Dust King's men must be outsiders among their own?
