Well if we do nothing, we know it'll end in fire. So it's probably best to try and avoid that if at all possible as writing Akane off would only result in bad things happening/us losing help and there's a chance, however slim, we can avoid that.

What to say to Akane...

Well, I suppose we could say "There's still one more left." perhaps "You're better than them." or "I'm not going to let you follow their path." or "Stop wasting time, We need to keep moving" or "They're still people." or "We've caused enough suffering around here." -point to collateral damage or "They did, just not like that." or "We've seen enough suffering already, we don't need to see more." or "I don't think your friends would like to see you doing that" or "I pulled you back from crossing the line Akane." or "I stopped you from doing something you'll regret later"

Considering the amount of collateral damage that just occured in the middle of the city, I wouldn't be surprised if we see some more new MG's in the next couple of weeks.

While I'd like to say something like, "With the near garuenteed influx of new MG's Akane isn't a critical asset as we'd have 2 weeks to train the newbies to at least passable skill to fight walmart night. In fact, trading Akane for at least 2 new MG's would be a gross gain for Sayaka and Co and won't really stress the Grief Seed supply of the city."

However, I am fairly confident that the thread will probably drive any newbie MG's into witch-dom with Bomb and Bomb of 'shit they didn't need to know' inside a week and we'd still be down Akane making the trade a net loss for Sayaka and Co.

Also causing new megucas to contract is likely bad for Sayaka's mental state and we'd need to start all over with them possibly having a bad impression (for good reason).

Akane has a sort-of-useful powerset, is a fairly committed ally due to lack of alternatives, and people we know will notice if she drops off the roster.

Let's stick with the Puella Magi we know if it's still at all possible to salvage her.

Agreed. If only because we've got a decent amount of time and effort already invested and I'm almost positive the thread will witch out any newbie MG's, but I won't shed any tears if she isn't. She moved from a Non-Expendable Asset to a Expendable Asset once the collateral damage, and new contractee's, started up.

Knowing we caused new contractees would be downright toxic for us IC, even if they were the second coming of Madoka statwise. Plus we'd need to explain to mikimom/madoka why Akane's gone off to live on a farm with lots of other megucas and they take her for walks every day and no they can't see her.

She's not expendable because we need more Wally firepower if we can get it, a good chunk of the roster including Sayaka would have problems/questions if she died, and frankly it'd be a pain to replace her if she can be anything close to sane, coherent, and willing to play nice with the team.

You move closer to her. Her left eye is shut; you can see blood leaking out of it. "H-hold up." You say, quietly.

"No. Don't touch me." She says. "Don't you-"

You see her gem. It's already pretty dark. You look at Akane, just in time to see her remaining eye staring at you. You start healing her immediately, and although she resists at first, you manage to give her other eye back before fixing up her arm. She stares at her hand. "...then she looks at you. "...you..." She murmurs.

You take a deep breath. "...Maybe...Akane..." You put a hand on her shoulder. "...m-maybe they needed to die but...don't." You say, quietly. "You're not like them." You look at her. "...Don't just cause more needless suffering."

She glares at you. "...Easy for the fucking white knight to say." She says, harshly. You flinch and stare at the ground. "...Your friends are still alive. You even have someone who loves you and cares about you." She says, harshly. "They took mine!" She shouts at you. "They took mine without a second fucking thought, and turned them into fucking monsters!" She's crying now. "And now you're telling me that they didn't deserve that?! That they don't deserve the kind of fucking pain and suffering that they've dealt to others? To my friends!? To me?!" She stares at you with her reformed eyes. "You..." She clenches her teeth tightly. "...why the fuck are you trying to be my friend when you both fucking blackmailed me!"

You pause. You stare at the ground as Akane turns around.

"...I'm going to find the last one." She says, coldly. "...Who knows. Maybe your other...friend found her first." She leaps off, leaving you with Kyouko.

You just watch her leave. You take a deep breath. "...I..." You stare at the ground as Kyouko puts a hand on your shoulder.

"Come on." She says. "...We have to go."

You immediately start armoring her up. She pauses, before she helps you finish. "...Yeah. Let's." You say. You start moving.

'Homura?' You start.

'Currently in the middle of combat. Please hold.' She says, flatly. Just as that happens, an enormous explosion rocks downtown Mitakhiara. A building collapses completely, before you see a figure of light blue twirling above the buildings. You can't see much of her, just that she's fast...before suddenly, she's engulfed by the explosion of an RPG.

And then you watch as said figure drops from the cloud. You can't tell if she just dropped, or if she was hurt.

If only to stop Akane from increasing collateral damage further trying to get to her, let's start the fight on our terms.
