"Ah-ha-ha-halet'stakeabreakforbreakfastokayyesgood." You say it far too quickly.

"Let us take a break." Akane mutters, before she stands up. She stumbles a little. You're beginning to wonder if you should heal her. Maybe that would help?

"Uh...you're scaring me."

"NO NEED." Akane shouts suddenly. "IT'S ALL OKAY AND COOL."

The noise wakes your mom up, who rolls off of the couch and to the floor face-first. She shrieks, before she stands up quickly. "WHO BROKE IN?!"

"Nobody!" You say. "Akane's just tired-!"

"I'M PERFECTLY OKAY!"

And so, several minutes later, you all sit at the table. Akane promptly gets a bit of toast on her plate, followed quickly by some eggs and bacon. Kyouko gets much more bacon and quite a few more eggs, while you get about the same amount as Akane.

Kyouko is busy vacuuming up the food, so you decide to try talking telepathically. 'Hey...uh...wanna do stuff?'

'Maybe.' She looks at you. 'Oh! Maybe a date?'

'Another date?' You blink. 'I mean, it's nice, but we still gotta do some stuff before Walpurgis.'

She whines a little. '...Okay, I get it. We need to do stuff. But then we have another date.'

'Deal.'

Your mom is eating like a normal person...when hungry. She's not doing much better than Kyouko is. "Hey, mom?"

She looks at you, before she bites a piece of bacon in half. "Yeah, Sayaka?"

"Uh...stuff." You mutter. "I had a thought, then I lost it."

Your mom just shrugs.

Akane's a bit more awake now, so you start talking. "So, how're the ducklings?"

"They were okay." Akane says, before she stuffs more toast in her mouth. "After the disaster...I had a talk with them. We're going to go train later today."

You nod.

"Maybe you could take a nap?" You say. "Uh...before you train."

Akane nods. "I didn't really sleep." She mutters. She puts her plate in the sink, walks over to the couch, and promptly falls on it. Within seconds, she's snoring.

They're making noises that are barely even human while they devour their food. Interrupting their mealfood would be a terrible idea.

Eventually, your mom's done. She puts her plate away, and she looks at you as soon as you open your mouth. "So...you alright?"

"I'm okay." Your mom says. "I'm perfectly okay."

You take a breath. You don't believe her.

"We need to break the news." You say. "...About it."

"About..." Your mom pauses, before she bites her lip. "...I know. I know that I need to." She sits down at the couch. "It's just...it's hard." She says. "It's hard, you know?"

"...Yeah." You mutter. "I know."

Your mom stares at the floor, then at you. "...I...I'm still trying to come to grips with it myself, Sayaka." She looks at you. "It...my only daughter could die. It's not just a chance of dying. It's that...this...this could be impossible. And you're saying it's...like a hurricane." She shakes her head. "I still need time to take it in."

...Yeah, we probably still want to drop the Ako news on Akane later, if only to avoid misunderstandings. Unrelated to anything: it's kind of funny that Sayaka, the canon series's resident conspiracy theorist, was going "give the Toyko girl a chance". Makes perfect sense but hilarious in context. :D
