You are a newly formed hero corporation. Among the expansive universe logistics is quite complicated and as governments and organizations scale upwards they tend to become less efficient. This created a need for a type of tactical flexibility on demand so digital currency could quickly be exchanged for fire power where needed, because it is all to common to have something critically undermanned.

This is where the "Heroes" come in. They are special operators in the greatest power armor in the universe enhanced by both science and magic for their personal use. Mercenaries in truth, they play a dangerous game where PR and reputation are weapons and shield in their own right. Who will hire you often depends on the image you display, not only that but rivalries ,alliances and war against each other often comes from the type of jobs one takes and what ideas they try to uphold.

One corporation and their team of "Heroes"takes any and every job they can to fight slavery in the universe, another corporation takes any job they can and ends up butting heads with them a few times. When a direct conflict happens someone dies, and what was contained to battle fields they had been hired on opposite sides of spirals into a direct engagement between each other. Soon one corporation and all of it's "Heroes" will be dead.

So you are the meat of the company, adding new parts and upgrading the power armor suites. Finding contracts, doing PR, and trying to merchandise out the "Heros". You will work together to make them more effective so that your company can make giant buckets of cash and become the richest organization in the universe.

Universe

The universe is a series of dozens of interconnected galaxies. Each has a single warp gate that can be used to go to any other gate. There are of course hundreds of known galaxies with out gates, but until they develop one they are essentially 3rd world countries on the galactic scale. There are one use gates that can be used to reach such places, but they are very expensive and not capable of the mass transit and trade that the gates provide.

The various governments rely upon mercenaries who wear power armor which uses tech and magic from all across the known universe to make something often more expensive than a capital ship, but capable of winning any ground battle or breaching enemy ships and being unstoppable juggernauts. Some of the higher end ones are even capable of space flight and combat on their own. These are piloted by the greatest warriors in the known universe and are given the best in training, information and equipment, needing an entire support team for their suite.

With heavy PR each corporation (group of "heroes") tries to build a certain reputation and image to get better contracts and make more money for from other avenues (toy sales for instance). Thus the title of "Heroes" since that is how most present themselves.

Magic is generally weaker than scientifically made cutting edge equipment. luckily the two aren't mutually exclusive and each suite has quite a bit of both. Where magic does shine is defying the laws of physics, such as conservation of mass, which can be used to make a weapon regenerate it's ammo, or armor repair itself in the field. Other examples include things like teleportation, or more esoteric or conceptual ideas, like make the wielder luckier. Magic has one other advantage, that it can be used in a suite to enhance a mages power, turning an incredibly potent arch mage into a true force of nature that can face down armadas on their own at the highest end.
Mechanics

After the first turn this will be a riot quest, where you as a team of magical and technical experts (as well as various experts in management and admin) equip, train and send out your "Hero(es)" on missions. Each Hero and their Suite will have a cost every turn, if your total cash goes below 0 you will become bankrupt, no new improvements can be made while bankrupt, if you do not get yourself positive in wealth the next turn, then the game is over the corporation has gone under. Of course you can also lose by picking a fight with another corporation of Heroes and losing.

Upgrades cost money as well, and the amount is unknown (though this won't take you below 0 the upgrade will simply be halted instead). An action can be spent a turn prior preparing and doing research to get an estimate on the cost.

The first turn will be the only non-riot vote, where you pick starting assets.

Power Armor:
"Suites" have two main stats "Battery" and "Complexity" They limit the amount of technological and magical components you can add(slots) respectively. New components may take more than one slot, especially small components may take 0 slots with a very good roll. (Example of a 0 slot component would be a knife that pops out of the wrist like the assassins creed punching dagger) The suites will also have some basic traits that will affect how they preform in combat.

Components can be upgraded to improve their effectiveness without requiring more slots.

This will use the WOD/Exalted dice system. Where a pool of 10 sided dice are gathered together and then rolled, each that is a 7 or above gives on success, you need more success than the difficulty.

Each player will make a simple sheet with a few stats (see roster) and each point in a relevant stat will give actions a small bonus (1d10 per point on a dice pool system.) I will do all the rolling. Each player also gets to choose a "back ground" of 3 words or less. of who they were before the corporation which has another effect on rolls. Each person with a relevant background to their roll will add "Exploding" dice to the roll. So if 1 person has a fitting back ground, then all 10's for that action and one success then get rerolled. With 2 players with fitting backgrounds it goes to 9 and 10, all the way down to 4 fitting back grounds making it all 7-10s.

The amount of success on a roll will determine the effectiveness and the cost of the action.

You start with 6 points to distribute
Each stat improve by 1 after being used a number of times equal to (it's current rating*3) (Once for 0->1)

EG: Three players work on adding magical regeneration to a suite. They all have a 3 in magic, and a fitting back ground (each). This gives them 9 dice and any that are 7-10 give one success, and any that are 8-10 add one success then get re rolled to possibly add another (which could itself be 8-10 and add another reroll ad infinum)

They get 9 success and add a powerful regeneration effect and do it much cheaper than expected, saving the company valuable cash.

He was a poor child who has climbed the ranks in various mage battle arenas or game shows of magical skill. However his tiny bit of fame hasn't been what he was wanted what people really care about are the "heroes" so he decided to take his power and fame to the next level so one day the whole universe will chant his name.
Cost: 30MGP
Traits:
Full Battle Mage: A fully trained battle mage, he has a dozen powerful spells to his name that serve a fairly wide variety of uses, as well as traditional blasting. He is already incredibly dangerous as a powerful (if not arch mage) mage.

Burning Magical Acid: Not that frank has been hired you have learned more about him and his combat style, you know that he has powerful magical attacks in the form of rays of magical acid inside a mana ray, that is also on fire.

Style: His fighting style and choices are always theatrical with his desire to be a huge star. Say what you will about it's practicality, but damn it it won't help rake in money from side projects.

Wants to be famous: Will take the mission he feels has the biggest audience.

By a bit of luck you have been offered the chance to test a new top of the line highly modular prototype it's expensive for it's lack of features at the moment, it does however offer a clean slate with a lot of potential. It is on the other hand being sold on the condition of testing, you will have to send data from all of it's missions and it may have glitches of malfunctions yet undiscovered.

Prototype: Failed rolls to create or upgrade modules may in addition to their normal effects also cause some form of glitch or error in the next mission that may range from simply humorous to possibly life threatening. As well it can not be used on secret missions without greatly upsetting the corporation that designed it, since they want data from it being used in live conditions.
Medium Weight: This suite tries to strike a balance between protection and speed. It offers better protection than a light suite at only a small cost to speed and maneuverability, which can more than be made up for with components. Medium weight is generally considered the best all round choice with the other sizes only being good for specialist.
Cutting Edge: As a brand new suite it features all the newest in construction methods and materials, it gains a moderate bonus to all missions and fights against other suites where it's technological and magical edge can shine.
Modular: All rolls to create or improve components gain +1 dice due to its design with upgrading in mind.

Okay, wow that was a lot, and I'm sorry for the huge info dump needed, but magi-tech power armored super heroes in space and a riot quest take a lot to get together, I promise it will be easier once you see voting options for the future turns, I'm doing all the rolling and mechanics, so just make a very simple sheet before turn 2 and you can help. (You can vote without a sheet but only add 1d10).

Turn 1: Building the Corporation!
Choose your starting assets of one pilot and their suite.
Budget 100MGC (Million gold coins) (This is the number you lose if it's below 0, 2 turns in a row)
You will have no upkeep cost at the end of this turn.

Heroes:

They were made to be of service to a noble house, a guardian who would be almost unbeatable in CQC and able to protect a building like few others. However their home planet saw rapid changes and the government that created them became a democracy that they had no place in. Given they were made in a lab and their group was a symbol of the old regime they decided to leave and find a new place to fight and test their skills.
Cost: 15 MGP
Traits:
Super Solider (Melee): Genetically and magical changed to have a mastery of CqC few being in the universe could beat them in a fair fight with a sword and a shield.
Fearless: Unable to be cowed by fear, knowing no anxiety or rage is a potent advantage. However fear has it's place and they will take risk others wouldn't and only part of that confidence has been earned.
Wants Battle: Will take the mission with the most *skilled* opponents.

She has always been fascinated by magi-tech and went to school for it, however she didn't get very far before a draft made her a solider one who did very well with magi-tech equipment and helped even form a new unit in her home nations military. Yet her planet was rather poor and could not take magi-tech very far, being from a galaxy without a gate. So she has been looking to become a "Hero" to find new and interesting tech/magic. As well as hopefully helping fund her home galaxies gate.

Cost: 25 MGP
Traits:

Caster: Knows a few mediocre spells, not a true battle mage, but enough to use in combat for an edge.
Martial Artist: A skilled fighter with discipline and practice goes a long way, probably not that useful in a heavy suite, but in a medium or escpecially in a light you will see increased CqC effectiveness.
Wants Magitech: Will take missions with the most magic/tech/ magitech advanced enemies so they can steal everything they like.

Hearing about you new company a young AI contacted you, requesting to trade a few years of service for possession of a suite. They desire a body to move around in the world, one strong enough to make assassination much trickier. They want to campaign for AI rights which are...spotty across the universe. However the last several AI to do so have been killed, keeping their mind in a closed system of such a suite would be a good way to avoid that fate and make traditional assassination trickier. Thus their need for a suite, and having some reputation and fame, from service would go a long way towards their goals.
Cost: 0MGP (Special: Wants to leave with a suite after a few years)
Traits:

No body: Can not feel pain, fear, or anxiety. Can't be poisoned, or even have spells affect the body inside the suite. However if part of the suite is damage will be unable to move that part via muscle.
Computer in a jar: Super intelligent and capable of researching on it's own at incredible speed, not only that but if given an interface in it's suite will be a world class hacker on missions as well. However many fear the AI uprising so there are risk once it's identity is discovered.
Wants Respect: Will take the missions that thinks will give it the most long term respect, wants to turn fame in political power.

Style: His fighting style and choices are always theatrical with his desire to be a huge star. Say what you will about it's practicality, but damn it it won't help rake in money from side projects.
Wants to be famous: Will take the mission with the biggest audience.

He was a solider from the day he was old enough to enlist and in the course of his career saw combat numerous times, and lead his men to amazing victory after victory, he was however given the highest medal for valor available in his galaxy. Which made him quite happy until he learned they would not send him into combat because of the political blow his death would be. Since he still desires to serve and make a difference via combat, he has had to find another way.
Cost: 20MGP
Traits:

Total professional: A solider since the day he was old enough to enlist and from a family of enlisted, he has known his whole life he was going to be a solider and he did amazing at it. He will live and breath his training and practice, to absolutely master what is put in front of him. He will also approach every mission and combat from a cool, collected tactical mindset.
Infantry Trained: He was trained to fight as an infantry man his instincts are a solid rifle, a bit of cover and solid tactics, within his element of that style though few could beat him in a fair fight.
Wants to Serve: Will take the mission he thinks does the most good.

Cost: 20MGP
Her world was decimated by a biological and magical zombie invasion/infection. She was instrumental in taking back her planet one step at a time, she remained in the thickest of fighting for years, until one day they won and she knew nothing but fighting and had nothing to show for it. Now she dreams of another few years of fighting while she is young then an incredible nice retirement on a resort planet, with her every whim catered to.

Traits:
Sniper: She doesn't miss with a gun, she has spent the last several years shooting head shots only and is an incredible marksman with any gun/ gun like weapon in her hands.
Assassin: She had to learn to be quite and to infiltrate against zombies, not quite the same as people, but close enough that she is a master of stealth.
Wants Wealth: Will take whatever mission pays best, she thinks she can do.

Suites:

What do you do when your losing a war to magic users? If you answered bankrupt your own kingdom building a suite that is completely magic resistant you either know your history or got lucky. The titan was a last ditch super weapon attempt against a magically focused army. It worked in the two battles it was in before the politicians surrendered. It then was put up for sale because they had bankrupted themselves building it and owed massive war reparations
Cost:40MGP
Complexity (0 of 0) Battery (2 of 7)
NA Jet Thrusters: For a heavy suite it is surprisingly agile, this was done by throwing a small jet thruster on it's back and behind each leg. It can even jump a little bit!
NA Wrist Lasers: It is equipped with a pair of heavy lasers which can penetrate most armor like butter, they do however have to charge their shots requiring some skill and patience in the user.

Heavy Armor: This suite is a big ass target, but with it's heavy layered armor, it's quite okay with that. Heavy suites are generally considered to be the best for new "heroes" where the armor can protect them while they learn the ins and out's that being said being such a large tempting target does come with it's own risk.

Anti Magic: The suite was made entirely out of materials known to resist and repel magical forces. The end result is a suite that is completely immune to direct magical effect, and makes the wearer immune as well. Technically summoning a rock to fall on it may work, or other various indirect methods, however trying to figure that out, while a several ton tank shooting lasers, is doing a rocket charge at you has yet to work out for any mage. Even magical energy turned to other energy dissipates on contact. On the other hand it can not be upgraded with any magic at all.

Rhino Charge: It weighs several tons and can run on it's own power before being enhanced with jets. It doesn't need to worry about little things in it's path like walls, tanks, small ships and the like. Momentum is a deadly deadly weapon in it's hands.

Fire Support weapons system is one of the most common suite variants in the universe, almost every military has thought of and experimented with human tanks. Sadly the price remains to high for mass production, or rather the mass produced ones always end up far cheaper and weaker than a "hero" suite like this one. It's heavy armor and big guns, king of open battle, or inside a ship, where the hallways leave no cover from it's weaponry.
Cost: 35MGP
Complexity (1 of 4) Battery (2 of 4)
Magical Flame thrower: The flame thrower has been enhanced with magic several times over. The fire burns much hotter than normal, and is capable of melting steel quickly. It's ammo supply is also much larger than it should be and the reach is greater. Chain Guns: The Quad chain guns on one arm are actually linked vehicle weapons with anti armor ammo. It can fire all four at once for an extended period of time with stored ammo. In short it is a shit storm of deadly firepower on one hand.
Empty Flame Thrower: The other arm is no less deadly equipped with a heavy three nozzle flame thrower with a surprising reach and ammo capacity this suite earns it's name as fire support.

Traits:
Heavy Armor: This suite is a big ass target, but with it's heavy layered armor, it's quite okay with that. Heavy suites are generally considered to be the best for new "heroes" where the armor can protect them while they learn the ins and out's that being said being such a large tempting target does come with it's own risk.

Big Rectangle: This very simple suite with very simple limbs isn't capable of real hand to hand combat, or even using weapons that aren't built in, it is also however quite immune to many hand to hand techniques and styles, unless the opponent is in a heavy hero suite of their own, they certainly aren't going to flip it for example.

The Raptor was a dream for what most air forces wanted, and various nations and worlds have produced their own variants to eventually sell them. The simple fact of the matter is very few people are capable of both dealing with super sonic flight, the incredible speed on the ground and at the same being a top level combatant. Then out of those few pilots the light armor and them being a priority target for enemies it has had a terribly low survival rate, to such a level that it is often considered cursed. However, the counter argument is simple, the few who have ever mastered such a suite swear by it, and often refuse newer or more expensive suites outright. For those lucky few who can master it's speed it is one of the most dangerous things in the universe.

Cost: 30MGP
Complexity (1 of 3) Battery (2 of 5)
Ammo Regeneration: Regenerates it's smart missiles, 30 seconds after they are fired. Super Sonic Flight System: This suite is capable of super sonic flight in the sky, it is however also capable of using the jets in the wings to move incredibly quickly on the ground level or to quickly fly to a high position. All in all it is incredibly maneuverable and fast.
Empty Smart Missiles: Each wing has one smart missile with heavy armor penetrating capabilities but a relatively small explosion size, designed for pin point targeting.

Light Armor: The suite trades in more armor and protection for more speed and maneuverability, it can effectively use cover and out maneuver most things, but a direct hit could quite quickly spell it's doom. Light armor is a choice only made by those who have no other choice or are incredibly confident in their abilities.

Crowd Favorite: With the incredible speed and acrobatics of the suite rolls related to making it famous/PR/Produce endorsement/merchandising it gain +2. Say what you want about it's practicality, the thing looks incredible on camera.

Nimble/Humanoid: The incredibly small size of this suite, while meaning it has very little armor, also means, it can pick up and use human weapons, pilot human vehicles, or otherwise get around and maneuver in anyway a normal person can.

The Kavacha was designed for an arch mages personal use who wised to try to become a "Hero" on his own, however he took it to battle to soon and was killed, it has been bought and sold several times since then but no one has ever gotten around to upgrading and using it since. Most are put off by it's very limited room for technological improvements.

So in this game you are the supporting force for these heroes.

After turn 1 you will primarily be giving upgrades to the suites and some training to the the heroes.

You will also be responsible for finding new contracts, and once you have some more money buying more suites and heroes.

You will all be working together to try to become the biggest most successful hero corporation in the universe.

I'll have the riot votes up after turn 1, then it will be easy to see your choices.

For now you can see how the suites have "Empty" slots those are for you guys to write in, omake and vote together to fill with tools and power ups.

You can also upgrade anything in those slots the same way.
That will be the biggest factor.

Most of it will be much more clear after turn 1 when I can put the riot quest options up.

The 5/5 suite currently at 100% surprising me a little.

Anyway I know that's a chaotic cluster fuck of an Op and I'm cleaning it up as I go, (before turn 2 and an advertisement post) so feel free to ask me anything at all.

Hrrm. So IDK about you guys but I'm thinking AI should go in the Titan-the limitation on no magic is fine if we're working with an AI that'd perfer technological components right?

Ai knows no magic initially but learns it as effectively as anything else.

Magic upgrades can also be passive like armor or ammo regen so the user doesn't need to be skilled in magic.

In fact thats one of the easier uses for magic. Just slap it on other things to buff them even further.

Magic: (Used to add magical upgrades under the complexity stat or train a pilot/Hero in magical traits) Technology: Used to add technological upgrades under the power stat or add technological traits/skills to the heroes/pilots) Business: Used to gain new contracts or make money from merchandise and other deals also used to do PR) Politics: (Used to find more information about a galaxy, a mission, a war, or other corporations. Can also be used to organize support for your heroes on a mission)

Quick question, for the stats are we using Espionage or Politics for the last stat? Hardly important in the grand scheme of things but I think you would want the stats and their descriptions consistent.

Nice to see you to and edited to be politics.

Espionage isn't quite right, it's more "Oh I know a guy" which can be espionage-ish but not really whats going on here.

@CoreBrute

This is a riot quest. The QM also has a thread explaining it in more detail here.
Amusingly, not me who wrote that.

Would someone please explain what is a riot quest and how it differs from a normal quest?
The most fundamental difference is rather than voting on an outcome, you are a single part of a larger group and your vote is what that particular part does.

In a normal quest if a fantasy village is about to be attacked by orcs, and 5 voters vote to reinforce the walls, and 7 to arm the townspeople, then the towns people are armed and nothing happens to the walls. (I actually want to run a riot quest about a little fantasy village that accidentally ends up the front line of a war)

In a riot quest, in the same situation, then 5 people worked on improving the walls (which depending on GM or rolls will depend on how much that helped) and 7 people helped arm the townspeople. Both things happen, every (Valid) vote happens in a riot quest.

The difference is normally one of scale and agency.

(Though I do want to do a really weird riot quest in a time loop where each vote is the same person, but what they do and try in that one life time)

Hmm, I think I have the stats for a experimental test pilot for whatever suit we pick and might help train who we pick to be our company sponsored hero. You know if they need any training before they we send them out on their first mission.

Edit : Also I'm currently the only guy with any points in magic.

Next turn you all will have a chance to do upgrades and customization and after that they will go on the first mission.

Alright here's my guy, I'm going for a combination failed Las Vegas performer/hustler crossed with hero trainer Phil from the Hercules Disney movie.

Current lead is Jordan and Excalibur, which I hadn't expected to see, but is surprisingly solid.

Okay, so...

[edited out - I found what I was looking for]

I wonder what the contracts do. The idea that you may want to spend actions on getting rid of some of them intrigues me.
