Legend of Hyboria: Storm of Might and Magic (No SV, travel the Path of Power and Sorcery in the Hyborian Age)

[x]You are with Emia and her Coven of Priestess: "It is time to have our Revenge…ISHTAR ETERNAL!" Oh, they were bathed in light and charging into battle, so thats what a battle priest is like? Neat.

But I should the priestess because they are literally chosen by god to hunt down vampire.
Umm, to answer your question.

No one else can see the Battle Aura except us and probably the Gov man.

We can see Magic Aura due to true sight, the other people cannot.
Some GM go with "unreliable narrator" that the MC don't know what they are doing and information we have is not accurate.
The information you have is correct, but it is colored by Alatu's POV.

Given that Alatu at least has high learning and has been rushed an education, he should have a good idea of what he's doing and what others are doing.

Something to make clear guys, Alatu is smart and had a fantastic Memory, he will not forget his plan or the details of it.

Thats why His memory is considered worthy of a Trait.

Right, I've caught up. Time to kill us a Vampire!

[x]You are with Emia and her Coven of Priestess: "It is time to have our Revenge…ISHTAR ETERNAL!" Oh, they were bathed in light and charging into battle, so thats what a battle priest is like? Neat.

I still think we should focus on gathering more man power that can protect us.
Magic is unreliable and strength of arm work in any situation.

That will always be an option, but getting men worth their salt is going to require a reputation.
Magic is unreliable and strength of arm work in any situation.
Magic is the name of the quest.

But I'm not as much of a fool to not let you NOT learn how to fight, your ax arm is gonna be getting some work.

(Alatu POV)

You looked at Emia and her coven as she and her group looked firm in light and practical armor, befitting the masters of Ishtar's will upon this earth.

"I don't believe in the Gods…" You said firmly as they looked at you. "Never have, and never bothered."

Emia nodded. "Well… you're getting that off your chest now?"

You shrugged. "Best to be honest with one's self before the battle." It was a sense of both clerity and in some cases, active self loathing.

"Night must end, that is the way of things, every god, every monster and every man must recognize that. Even the ones that are beyond even us." She said.

"I don't get what you mean Priestess." You said.

"Nothing is truly invincible…" She smiled. "Not even the Vampire."

You nodded.

"It is time to have our Revenge…ISHTAR ETERNAL!" Oh, they were bathed in light and charging into battle, so thats what a battle priest is like? Neat.

The half dozen or so priests moved faster then any man could and in doing so, left traces of light.

Piety Check: Understanding the Battle Aura
Rolled: D100 => 1+5 =6

All it did was make your eyes hurt as you saw a beautiful shadow upon your soul.

"NO PEEKING INTO THINGS YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN! SOULFLAME!"

You then fell to the ground in a daze, as you shook your head in pain.

Fuck…well lets ignore that shall we.

----------------------

Martial: Enter the Frey!
Rolled: D100 => 81+15(Martial) +15 (Equipment buffs)=111 vs D100 => 18+40 (Vampire Forces)=58

You followed the battle cries as you moved and began to battle, first came were the mass of peasants and mobs.

Each of these masses, fed propaganda and promises of food, wealth and power by the vampire were here to bog down the mass of soldiers and religious mobs.

It was a battle, one of fire, steel, iron and wood.

It was bloody, angery, and above all else cruel.

Were it any other circumstance, this would be a senseless waste of human life.

You raised your ax and charged, feeling the stones and dust bounce off your armor and helm.

*CRACK* The first ax swing cut through bones and flesh like a porcelain plate, feeling the life blood fall into the street like a calming drop of rain.

*CUT* The second swing was going through the muscle and cloth-like butter. Leaving the Lifeblood and brain matter across the land.

"SHATTER*

The final swing was made and the Crowd was dispersed…you had cut them down like straw men.

Reward: Vampire Forces Modifier lowered by 10.

Martial: Pushing back the tide
Rolled: D100 => 93+30=123 vs D100 => 41+30=71

Then the crowds rallied and smashed into the Vampire's little army with the fury of a winter storm.

Each charge by the enemy has been met with fire and steel. More and more of the enemies Number were ripped down and cast into the death their master promised would never touch them as long as they served.

You had reminded them of Mortality and that death came for all of them all the same.

Then the Skirmishers were unleashed…and charged as you slipped into the alleyways to your target.

-------------------------------

The Hunters Final Plung: D100 => 90 vs D100 => 79

You stood outside the Library as you saw Raifail and his guard meet you, "Emia and her coven will bring up the rear."

He nodded. "Good, if things go badly we'll have need of holy light."

"Is this place-" You asked.

"No…he's inside, preparing for his grand debut…we must hurry." He said.

"His empire is falling apart…why would he allow us to strike so easily?" You said.

"He thinks himself the hunter in this game." He said before showing the green delta on his tunic and mail. "But he is mistaken."

You nodded as the group prepared to make the plunge.

--------

What do you do Alatu?:

[]Cast a spell: You don't like this, best to prepare to cast a spell in case things go wrong.
-[]Write in which spell you wish to cast from your spellbook.

[]Go with Raifail: The Monster Hunter is likely the most dangerous man in the room, best stay close to him.

[]Prepare an Ambush: You know these halls, best to use them to lie in wait and take your opportunity to kill your opponent.

[]Wait for Emia: The Coven has yet to arrive? Best to stay and watch for them…in case things go wrong.

[]Lit a Torch and Search: The Library is rather large, a secret is hidden here, best find it before the Vampire can use it against you.

AN: Enjoy.

Good rolls all around, hate that nat 1 right off the bat though. I hope its not indicative of the rest of this battle.

we are in the thick of it, maybe cast the lightning fist for the next round of combat?

Edit: It's been a few hours, so I'm throwing my choice here, I'm going to guess we can't double up on actions here so it might be better for us to get somewhere rather than sit here and wait for something to happen.

I figure with the hunter doing something and the battle well in out favor we can afford to go looking for whatever this secret is.

Turns out your enemy has poor morale when they realize that their boss isn't going to make them immune to dying.

And fighting actual soldiers.

Indeed.

Also @Tabascoheath don't worry your Map reward is going to come up along with whatever the secret is.

AHA, I knew there was something I was forgetting! I have thrown away all of my fears about being jumped in a dark library and fully endorsing running around in search of the secret, FORWARDS UNTO DAWN!!!

At the moment, we're just the right point between inexperienced and having an idea what we're doing that I'm all for getting our awkwardly dressed hands on additional loot from the vampire's library of exotic magic and mysteries.

We're rookie enough of a mage that any additional magic is a useful addition to our arsenal, and we have just enough of a clue what we're doing to (probably) not kill ourselves trying to learn.

Personally I love how when he says he is seeking to destroy the vampire so he can stay in the building with priestesses of Ishtar the vampire nods and says. "I would not blame you for that."

More relatable reason than the others who have actually been a threat to him really.

To be fair...they cook really good food and protected him from Slavers, so its an easy assumption to make.

Really Alatu stayed with them because he thought they would lead him to Magic stuff.

Witch they did.

The Vampire would also respect that.

As would his willingness to put his life before his pride.
More relatable reason than the others who have actually been a threat to him really.
Yep.

And Strangely enough besides the Preistesses, Alatu is actually the biggest threat to the Vampire, mostly because he's going to steal his Magic stuff, study it and become stronger at magic.

He's already done a lot in nearly a year of self study.

You know at the end of this arc im already expecting our character to yell out a god or goddess name we are doing it for, knowing our luck in magic
