It's LIke XCOM, But With More Sparkles -- Henshin Heroes & Heroines HQ Quest!

Huh, I hadn't realized that Kekkai-Chan does 2 damage at range. I think I'll go with nearly everyone attacking this round in order to find out what works on him and because everyone has full health if he retaliates. Kekkai-Chan might level up if she fails during the fight. Maybe that'll be the level she needs to get rid of Untrained.

People! I introduce to you the no holds barred options!

The choices above are to damage the Nemean Lion in non-skin parts of his body, to render him unable to fight effectively, and to have him tied down so he will have to skip his turn to attack and our heroes can attack him one more time!

Who's with me in the choices above!

It feels like these are second-round choices, what we resort to if our initial attacks fail. We agreed that neither side will kill the other, and while I doubt that Leo will keep the agreement, attacking his senses right away might just put him in beserker mode.

@storysmith112358 As a general rule, a Hero will take the most logical action on their action. In this case, Yukihime would almost certainly take to the air. Also, I'm assuming that Pleiades still has the dagger. Obakemaru is equipped with Magic Weapons though.

Also (and this is to everyone), please feel free to be creative in this fight.

This is pretty good, but I would make the suggestion that instead of binding him down, use Yukihime's ice chains to strangle him. Invulnerable people still need to breathe, after all.

I've been vaguely imagining all of the failed attacks bouncing away and sometimes hitting our own side so I'm reconsidering my vote. We really just need one attack of each type to see whether that type works. Also, PurpleProse has said that we should feel free to be creative.

Pleaides has an ALIEN dagger, but she needs to get close to use it. We might want to hold off on that until we get a better idea of how Leo fights. Gunleon presumably has ULTRATECH guns while Kekkai-Chan's attack is PSYCHIC, and Fenrir is BIO. I suggest having all 3 ATTACK this round.

For MAGIC, we have Shineon, Obakemaru's MAGIC weapons, and Yukihime. We only need one of these to ATTACK, and I don't think that should be Obakemaru. The two possibilities I can think of are that Shineon ATTACKs while Yukihime uses her SPECIAL & that Shineon GUARDs someone while Yukihime ATTACKs.

Obakemaru can try to throw irritants into Leo's face, but we have to be careful not to get Fenrir. Pleaides can either ATTACK, double-down on impairing Leo's senses, or SUPPORT someone. Fenrir is the most likely possibility for doing damage so we should probably SUPPORT or GUARD him.

Any ideas? I want to wait for more discussion before editing my vote.

Aim all the attacks at his head for maximum concussions. And alive doesn't mean we can't blind him or make him a deaf person.

I wonder if aiming for his head conflicts with attacking defensively. I want Kekkai-Chan to ATTACK defensively, Gunleon to ATTACK aggressively, and Shineon to ATTACK strategically. I suspect that only Fenrir can really damage Leo so we can have Shineon's bonus go to him.

I'm going to strike out my previous vote and post a new one here. I might end up changing bits based on the discussion, but I'll hopefully be editing this post instead of making a another one. I'm holding off on having Pleiades try the ALIEN dagger until we get a better idea of what can do damage to Leo since she can only use it at melee range. I'm assuming that Obakemaru has a flashbang since he's a ninja, and that should affect Leo's eyes and ears. There's a bit of a risk to Fenrir though.

I get real "Boss that you can technically beat but are supposed to lose to on the first playthrough" vibes from this guy.

The GM said that it would be a hard fight so we should probably choose our actions carefully. I don't want to attack with everyone because I suspect that most of the attacks won't do anything. Even worse, the failed attacks might backfire and hurt our side.

Take all the time you need! It's great that you're taking the time to tell us, anyway; you'd be perfectly in your rights to leave the thread alone until you've got things handled. Thanks for giving us a heads up

Hey guys. It's me. Sorry for the lack of updates on this Quest, even though it started out really strong. Trust me, I'm probably just as, if not more disappointed than you guys are.

The long and the short of it is, I ran headlong into a wall made up of stress and a variety of depression (seasonal and otherwise), partly because that I haven't been able to find a proper job yet. Naturally, this has sucked me dry of any creativity and motivation, hence the month or so without any posts or comments. I know I should've given you all a heads up, but I couldn't bring myself to post. I was just... burnt out.

So, I'm going to try to start this back up come the new year. Tinker with some of the mechanics and try to get things back on track, resuming with combat. I make no promises, but I will try. Please, let me know if you guys want to continue and if you enjoy the quest (and if you do, what exactly you like).

Cheers.

It's alright Prose. They call it burnout for a reason- the most important part of treating a burn is making sure nobody touches the injury before it has healed. Taking a bit of time to get the creativity flowing helps the quest, so long as you can regain momentum at the end.

Also, the thing I love most about this story is definitely the characters and their arcs. Shineon's use of their Magical Girl form as a crutch to slowly grow from a nervous wallflower to (what looks to be) a potential leader is a great example, and I'm really looking forward to seeing where that plot trajectory goes.

Please take as long as you need. I like how we were building up the base and characters. It felt like we were accomplishing something whenever the base phase actions paid off during combat. Also, the characters are pretty interesting.
