Are they actual fanatics? If they blow up the cylinder then everyone not on space rock will die, including them.
The Federation has its fair share of fanatics given that they won the Unification War...and their post war reconstruction/ colinization plan was good enough to some people that it makes them become fanatics.

There are some people that will literally kill themselves for the Federation in an extreamly unhealthy way...hence why the feddies put them in a tube and threw them away to Titan.

I'm pretty sure the only drawback to the fanatics is that they can't get those on the space rock, so they'd try to propel the cylinder into the space rock to maximize impact.
Actually these guys are filled with Earthnoid Supremists that are so vile they make the Titans look good, the only thing keeping them from killing us is the fact they are fighting a Multi frount war with limited equipment, they are playing hardball and defencive. A good day for us is two or three dead feddies. And they have all the good equipment.

To say the unification war ended with lingering unease is almost like saying a flooded basement is a bit damp, while water continues to pour in. Not many cared about how it started but everyone felt its effects. The nations more prepared and a lot luckier said the right things and done the right bet became the Federation, with everyone else rendered outsiders. These outsiders felt the Federation had slaked their thirst with common people's blood as soon as the devastation and harvest shortfall set in. While the accusation is accurate to some degree, the bureaucrats did not initially do this out of malice; the plan was to utilized resources to restore production with minimal delay, though it mattered little to the starved masses. Waves of protest shouldn't be a surprise to the Federation as it knocked on everyone's door, blaring message of complete a unification. The officials and politicians were clever however, thanks to competition based on logic and results. First, they divided the protestors into groups, flipping the media machine to full force; allowing the various groups an equal say on their issues, dissolving the united front into circular firing squads. Then they present the enticing development packages to the easily distracted local politician and pressure group, turning enemies into assets. Through all these measured steps the ardent and determined anti-federationists were isolated, and shown the seat within the heavy lift vehicles (H.L.V.). Groups such as Balkan Emergent Lingo Kollective Alliance (BELKA)* and Wong Heavy Industry** were of particular importance as backers of the Federation felt there are too many players already, and those too needed a shuttle for outer space. Thus the outsiders within the earth atmosphere became outsider to their home, a fact they will never forgive.
