Stop attacking my immersion with your Doylist explanations. The Watsonian reason we can't spend time with everyone is because we're merely a normal superhuman who can only be in one place at a time.
As for the reason Genta is in a critical place, it is because he has finally started opening up a little, and it is crucial that this is rewarded and positively reinforced. His bias predicts that if he comes out of his shell, he'll be metaphorically burned, and thus he'll be looking for confirmation of that. It isn't enough to just treat him amicably; he must be treated well, make it so clear that being open and upfront with us results in completely unambiguous positive result that he is unable to deny it.
Then I can stop worrying about him, and start worrying about someone else, like Saya.
But seriously, I'm very concerned about Saya...
Junko has a lot of big sisters (and some brothers as well) looking out for her. She has friends, a place in the world, and no clear "about to explode" issues. It'd be nice if we had more time for her, but there are so many dysfunctional and self-destructive behaviors around us it's hard to justify spending time with her when it's so obvious how Genta and Saya are hurting as people.

Genta, is as stated by DIomedon, JUST opening up. Rewarding him for it should at least get him to leave a crack open. I get the feeling he expects to be hurt and rejected for not being Tattletale in a social encounter, but that also means he's closing himself out from the white lies and social comforts.

Oh that entirely makes sense, and from a game level perspective I do not recommend opening up more slots or allowing us to use a slot for more.

If we had full control over Shizue's interaction with Ginchiyo, I actually think social-fu could work. For example, one of the main excuses they seem to be telling themselves is that Emiko would kill them if she sees them again. And Shizue outright recalls that's not the case, but she hasn't said anything about that yet. But yeah, I dunno how the dice would work for social interactions like that.

Now. Shizue considers this only after the fact, but she does wonder. Ginchiyo's not stupid. She doesn't misinterpret words like this. So why the heck did she tell her friends that Emiko would kill them when she hadn't said that at all?

I can pick out a few elements so far:
-Ginchiyo's self identity is still tied up in being the noble Reef Shinobi. Manual labor and menial work are beneath them(very samurai of her considering everything).
--She does not think of herself as a missing-nin even if she is one, she's the righteous outcast who will one day return in glory.
--Thus she refuses to directly associate with Emiko outside of hostile terms, because she is the evil outsider missing-nin.
--At the same time, double standards for the kids who went with her. They were clearly fooled or coerced by Emiko, and she may eventually gain their hand in retaking Reef.
-She fears her companions being lured away, she's got a team. A very fragile team, by being hungry and alone in a strange world where ninjas get no respect, and have no honor. She considers Emiko basically as a memetic hazard, if she steals these friends too, what else does she have left?
--Interesting idea, loyalist missing-nin. I wonder if putting her in contact with Azusa and Hachiro might help or hurt. Their being with Fish-girl and Ginchiyo being rather direct and swordy with her solutions point to this possibly backfiring, unless we successfully sell her on United Archipelago Loyalists or something like that. Bonus, they actually have a samurai there to train her along those paths.
-She fully intends to kill Emiko the next time she sees her, and knows that she won't be able to conceal that hostile intent. This is why Emiko doesn't confront her even if she knows where to find her, if they meet again, she WILL have to kill Ginchiyo.
Long term solution: Once Ginchiyo has the stick partially removed from her ass, we send her to meet the ones we left behind.

Well, there's also convincing her that she should abandon the Archipelago and embrace being missing nin, but that risks sounding too much like Emiko and then Bad End one way or another.
It's not impossible though. Starvation is very persuasive to already shaken ideals, it's just human nature.
Wouldn't the idea be that we give money to Sanosuke and Ginjiro without telling Ginchiyo, and then they buy stuff? Sanosuke could just give his story about charming a store-owner again (not sure that's how he actually got the food).

Courier job is probably the one Ginchiyo would have least problems with, but again, I don't think the two others are as proud as Ginchiyo.

I think we should try to secure her gratitude rather than just make sure she doesn't starve; she'll figure out a way past her pride on her own if she gets hungry enough. I'd rather risk that way of her losing her pride and have a chance at her being able to keep it and have her thank us for helping with that down the line.
As far as who we interact with, I'd like to follow up on things that have happened recently and feel that we're in a stable enough position with Genta and Okiie to take the time for that. I'd much rather follow up with Rika than grasp for something with Ichiman.

I feel like when that's the consideration, not voting for them shouldn't necessarily have all that much read into it as far as neglecting them or not hearing news at all. Not when she finds out, if she finds out. Sanosuke's likely good enough to come up with some excuse (personally I think he's already doing that, so I don't think it's likely for Ginchiyo to figure it out).
Also, I don't think buying food (which is what Ginchiyo and co. need) costs anywhere as much as puppetry and continuing to buy music stuff, and I'd also say that making sure Ginchiyo and company don't starve to death is more important than both puppetry and especially music stuff.
In addition to that, I doubt we'll be supporting them alone, since Rika will likely be passing on money too (I don't think she's going to let them starve), and ideally they'd also be getting jobs.
Helping them out should also make Sanosuke and possibly Ginjiro trust us more, which could be useful for getting them to talk to Emiko and the rest of our group.

Like, a Team photo for 'Team Emiko.' Seiichiro is jumping in front of everyone. Ichiman is in the back with Shizue being tall. Saya is crossing her arms. Genta is examining the camera with his eyes red-rimmed devouring all of its secrets.
Or a beach scene with 'Team Yaramachi.' Azusa, of course...wait, do you know her yet? Anyways, Azusa is not wearing a swim-suit, of course, and is standing off to the side as if the water is poison. Umiko's dressed normally (she's basically beach ready 24/7) and is almost in the water, and is trying to lure Yaramachi (wearing ill-fitting swim trunks) in...
Or a scene of 'Team Ginchiyo' about to battle. Ginchiyo with her sword all full of lightning in her special technique. Sanosuke to the left of her, short and handsome and in the middle of a Water Jutsu. (Soak and Shock, learn it and love it kids.) And then quieter, more withdrawn Ginjiro, razor-sharp ninja wire drawn and held out, ready for use.

Oh my, I am but a humble fish without any skills at reaction posts (they would literally just be me typing different vowels for screams. ex: aaaaaaa AAAAAAA EEEEEEE ooooooooo ehhhhh!?! ) but have a decent skill at drawing so this is how I'll rack up those exps ehehe~
Buuuut if you want to try and drown a fish be my guest! Oh gosh, ok lots of detail but I was thinking more on the characters themselves, as individuals, if that's ok. I have the post where you described their appearance in a little more depth but half of those descriptions were missing things like hair length, body type, what kind of styles do their wear their hair in if its longer, what kind of clothes do their wear, where do they wear their forehead protectors, ect, ect. (Im sorry wow this is a lot of description.) BUT honestly the easiest thing to do is to send me reference images and say so and so hair style is like this or so and so hair is this but messier;;; kind of get what I'm saying? They don't have to look exactly like the image (or if they do that works too) but combining reference images/descriptions is a big help to me. A mix of image and description is usually the best but I can make do what whatever you give me just there is a lot more likelihood I'll take artistic liberty again and that might not be your guys' vision. Sorry this is so complicated omg- ALSO IM SORRY I AM SPAMMING YOUR QUEST BOARD???? Is there a better place to discuses this I don't want to spam too much and get the quest off track aaaaa-

To explain, for one of my other Quests I decided that I wanted to at least give a (god, it feels way too general) Prologue/background for the MC that the (super-long) Character Creation had wound up with.
I had Saturday and Sunday with no work, and I wasted all of them entirely on that Quest, thus falling further behind in everything else in exchange for 19k words.
Hence, I'm now stuck in the mud with Covenant, thinking of delaying the Lost Files for a few days, and Split is still half-finished with the deadline looming. KCS is at least easy in the sense that it's always in a state of crisis/getting in the way of something.

I just would probably collect the info together so I can keep it around so I have characters to do some warm up sketches with. But ok start with Emiko. She's important to the plot and I have serious respect for her literally adopting like thirteen kids all at once. #motherhenemiko
Just focus on some nice rest. Hope that you get on a better sleep schedule or at the very least a better one than mine. I keep staying up late trying to catch up. o(-<
