D&D 5e- darkness with dawn

BTW, Blade, are we going to have an IC thread? Because I feel like this thread could get a bit cluttered if we don't and I think I remember you saying that the plan was to RP on this thread somewhere near the beginning.

here is that quote

I should have said, this game will run on this thread, with some rules and style that will help make it playable this way. It will be a combination of ooc and ic, which I favor in tabletop games

@Blademaster, can I replace Qaelyn's History Proficiency with Nature to reflect how she's been relatively isolated from much of the world and her familiarity with herbs and plants?

and so he asked how he too can be as strong as them and the Elders answered simply "Experience"
I think a good example for a fitting answer might be "You need to learn from other warriors until you know yourself".
And now I'm getting Holy Roman Empire vibes from these guys. What exactly are the criteria for the Empire to enact a holy war?
Actually, I based them more of russia, but with elements from the holy roman empire

So aside from Blade's worldbuilding, are we waiting on anything else? Sorry if I seem pushy, I just really want to get started. :D

I mean, we're starting in a roadside inn, right? I haven't done D&D via text posts at all, but the few examples I've seen start with the DM setting the scene, describing where the PCs start and what is currently happening before asking the players to describe what their PCs are doing and to introduce them, much like how most D&D games start.

also a time and date well in advance we can plan accordingly

Also, question: how common are things like Teleportation Circles? Are they present in most cities, only the wealthier cities, or extremely rare?

Only very wealthy cities in dylan, or the most important hubs of the golden mages. They only get rarer out of dylan, the high elves are the only ones close. The dwarves are rumored to have some other way to travel quickly, but they keep its exact nature secret. Of course, in any large city in dylan there is some sailor or trader who claims he saw it and it is a giant catapult/a rune that teleports people/a tunnel that warps space and time/a network of portal to to the feywild/giant eagles

Survey number 3
Part 3 of the survey, will mostly give info on important parts of the world not described enough

The empire of Kigrean, known sometimes as the dragon empires, is a militaristic and cruel nation. It is ruled by a dynasty who is said to be the bloodline of the sorcerer Nirbal, a great hero of ancient times, said to come from the blood of the first metallic dragon, the demigod Raidirik. Whether either of the claims or not, it is clear that there is some dragon blood in the dynasty of Nirbanin, as a few of the family are known draconic sorcerers. In the empire, the emperor is hailed as a dragon demigod. You in dylan know the truth, that the only demigods on the earth serve the order of the divine, but in Kigrean, those who defy those claim soon disappear, surly because the wrath of Raidirik, and not the emperor's secret inquisition. The dragon empire, according to scoolars, is one of the newest nations, having began as one of the many kingdoms in digniel a thousand years ago. In its fanatic zeal and disciplined armies, they conquered all of their land, and would expand east to dylan already 500 years ago, if not for the dwarves. The dwarven kingdom of kistran, in the spine of the world, is one of the strongest kingdom in the world. While being the weakest at mages, they create magic items of the greatest quality, surpassing even the elves. That adds to them being masters of crafting, and having some of the greatest warriors. Their exquisite goods and masterpieces make them one of the wealthiest kingdoms. But the reason they block the empire, is their forts. While The dwarves are great warriors, they are fewer than the legions of kirgean. But their forts and towers hold their home, and so little force can shake the dwarves off their mountains., and they wont yield their land. The dragon empire, on her part, have no reason to want direct control of the mountains, but their zealousy and pride would never let them yield their conquest. So the two powers are stuck at an impasse for 500 hundred years, fighting battle after battle to no end, other than exchanging their troops' lives for pride. This common enemy, however, greatly improved relation between dylan and kistran, turning the dwarves from friendly trade partners, to the greatest allies of the kingdoms of dylan, allies too smart to get involved in the inner warring of dylan. The dwarves have multipue trading posts in dylan, in addition to the independent dwarven cities in dylan.

The north of dylan, is a desolate place. A frozen wasteland, full of monsters, wandering orc tribes, and dragons, the only humans there are savage barbarian. Once in a while, some of them raid the northern dylanic kingdoms. Other tribes are said to be peaceful, and have culture of their own, but the divine priests of erathis in dylan all reassure that this is all lies, and the nords are all murderous barbarians.

The mages of the world, are usually ranked in several ways, measure to their strengh, knowledge, specialities, and deeds, that streches back before dylan. Each mage has his robe, a unique mage robe. A robe of a mage of the first, weakest circle, is brown. Than comes red, the most coomon level for mages at full potential, than white and black. Silver mages, of the fifth circle, are extremely rare, to the point of less than one in a generation. Due to this, the circle is usually excluded from regular discussions about magic. The robes carry symbols that signify the deeds and specializiations of the wizard, and its organization, if any. While the system is used in the whole world, in dylan its laws are revered. A mage wearing robes of higher circle, or non-mage wearing mage robes, are hanged. Bards are usually noy organized, anfmd looked down by mages, but are admired by common folked, and are seen as keepers of ancient knowledge. Druids exist, but are more legend than reality for most folk. Clerics and paladins have ranks of their own, but those are kept in secret, and is rumored to be unique each deity, and even each domain.warlocks are feared by general population, though non-devil warlocks are accepted by mages. Magic overall is rare, and most people wont see any. Sometime a village elder or healer will be able of a little, but the things he will do usually fall even before cantrips in power. Even among races like high elves and gnomes, peopke who can actually learn any spell or cantrip are very rare, though a little more common than in humans.

Welcome to a world of great monsters and magic, a world where stories are important and tales of great heroes are told. Welcome to the world of Irlion

so the world is called Irlion and the continent is called Dylan hopefully mage robes are not confused for monk robes, also wizards and sorcerer are both called mages?

edit: and please threadmark the post above
