The start
[x] Infestation specialist

The Grey chain is a series of planets attacked by the Zerg during first contact, most of the planets within have been infested, the inhabitants turned into a twisted mixture of Terran and Zerg.

It is on one of these forsaken planets that you first awaken, taking in the world with your senses for the first time.

Your body is strange, much like a being your instincts identify as a larva yet larger, stronger, and more intelligent.

Then you feel it.

Thousands of small presences at the edge of your sense each a member of your brood, and each with its own voice.

……………………..they are all wailing out in agony.

How do you feel about this?
[x] Concern why must your brood be harmed so?
[x] Apathy the Zerg do nothing if not endure and so should they?

After you address your thoughts regarding the presence of the voices you bring your attention to another matter.

Your normal infested terrans are weak and the infested marines cannot be reliably replicated at the moment, if you do not figure out how to improve this situation you will surely be overrun when the Hybrid armies begin their assault.

But how should you start?
[x] The terrans main strength comes from their ability to utilize technology look to see if you can get your infested civilians to regain their tool use.
[x] While your area of control is great you are still but one mind. You should see if you can do something to fix that and ease your own mental load.
[x] The terrans have domesticated many animals perhaps one could be of use.
[x] Look to the nearby infested cities hopefully they will have something useful.

Infested barracks
[x] Concern

You feel concern for the pained voices of your broad.

This agony it is not something that should be allowed amongst your charges.

You will find a way to stop it.

Reward: ???, ???, New options unlocked.

XXXXXXXXXX

You have your infested terrans scour the city for anything of use.

Thankfully it does not take them long to come find results. Apparently the town still had a barracks alongside a few other buildings, and the barracks in question has the ability to manufacture marine armor and weaponry. Now you shouldn't need to worry as much about finding replacements for lost infested marines.

Reward: Infested barracks, can train infested marines from now on.

What do you do next? (Choose 2)
[x] While your area of control is great you are still but one mind. You should see if you can do something to fix that and ease your own mental load.

[x] Look to the nearby infested cities hopefully they will have something useful.
[x] While the barracks in a good thing you still need the means to repair or replace it, look for such an item.
[x] A good swarm needs a good foundation to base itself in look into possibility for such a foundation.
[x] Continue searching the ruins of the Terran city, there should be something of use.
[x] Start up patrols of infested marines and man the infested bunkers, just because you specialize in infested terrans doesn't mean that they are automatically on your side.

Units and Structures
Command Strains
Looking like an insecticide centaur with an oversized head the forman class command strain is decent in combat for a unit not actually meant to fight.
Upgraded versions of your infantry get stronger and lead more forces the higher up on the command structure they get.
Infantry
Units created when a bio-mechanical life form is toasted then can be returned to you base and morphed back at into there original form for a fraction of the price. They aren't good for much else though.
An evolution of the infested marine the Ghoul is roughly double the size of it's predecessor and posses the power to turn both of it's hands into twin Gatling impalers. In addition it's sheer size and strength give it a decent melee capability compared to it's original counterpart, although it isn't nearly as good as say an Ogre would be in a close in battle to the death.
A worker unit with a weak attack, the Mason can create a drone variant specialized to turn into a specific Zerg building, construct infested buildings itself, serve as a last ditch defense, or repair mechanic units in a time of need.
Description: Your Zergling equivalent these life forms come in less numbers but serve as minor detectors in exchange.
Infested Medics, these guys can heal your biological units.
A powerful melee unit that can increase the durability of it's allies.
Adrenaline Boosters: Floods the Ogres systems with powerful adrenaline that increases attack speed, but slowly damages the Ogre in question.
A large quadruped the Centaur is both stronger than the Ogre and much faster…also it can put other infested Terrans inside an organic bunker like construct on it's back from which they can fire out. Even better should the Centaur be destroyed its inhabitants will emerge safe and sound!
The first forays into physicist infested Terrans the Infested Ghost is basically a match for its uninfected counterpart.
A potent flame thrower using infantry unit.
Space Fleet
Much bigger then the infested Wraith the Phantom makes up for it's increased cost in the form of a much higher quality. Better energy storage made using a combination of Terran machinery and Zerg biology allows the Phantom to remain in stealth near indefinably. However in the case of an enemy detecting it's presence The Phantom is equipped with a pair of rapid fire laser cannons far stronger than those on the original Wraith as well as a couple dozen Source launchers to help bring down nearly any foe.
A strange fighter the Sneaker uses its stealth to close in on enemies and then once within range grabs onto the hostile units and start spewing acid onto it. It is a little cheaper than the Infested Wraith but it's still going to be less common than say a Mutalisk.
A powerful planetary assault ship the Giant Crab can launch a barrage of missile from long range, or it can enter the atmosphere to act a a long range artillery unit.
Heavy Ground Forces
Based off of the baseline Terran unit the Infested Goliath can attack both aerial opponents and ground based ones.
Massive Dropships made using Terran designs these units can carry a large number of forces and even should they be destroyed on route to the target it's inhabitants will survive thanks to large supply of escape pods.
Functionally identical to there normal counterparts the Siege Tank can fight either as a front line unit of as artillery support.
Robotic constructs with a Zerg creature implanted within the Cerberus can jump up and down cliffs, detect hidden enemies, and is immune to EMP. It's main method of attack is to unleash torrents of acid onto ground based enemies, naturally the short range of this attack means that the Cerberus has a weakness to air units however.
A powerful bipedal close combatant the Rexlisk does a massive amount of damage in a one on one fight and can paralyze a single target that enters melee range.
Structures
The infested shelter is your head quarters structure of choice and poses a high durability, it will periodically spawn larva and can maintain terran machinery.
A building that trains infested marines.
An infested missile turret that can detect stealth and shoot down aircraft.
An infested Bunker.
Allows for the morphing of Scourge fliers.
Terran Research Center, currently unmanned.
More a shifting mass of muscle then anything the Muscle Chamber allows for the mutation of Ogres.
A production structure for areal units.
Hero Units
The first born of the slow grown infested Terrans Terra is always eager to make her father proud and is a master of Terran sciences.
The second of the slow grown infested Terrans Orlock is a quite fellow that none the less cares for his family greatly.
Civilian Units and Infrastructure
An improvement on the infested Civilian the Infested Worker is more durable and comes equipped with a cybernetic appendage that lets it both ease the healing of organic issue and weld together metallic constructs. This is a great step up from the miserable stat of their previous existence and has increased the rate at which new planets are settled.
Obsolete Units
Description: An infested Terran Marine Infested Marines are slower then their normal counterparts but otherwise retain all the attributes of a normal marine.
Adrenaline Boosters: Floods the infested with a powerful Adrenaline that increases they're rate of fire, but steadily damages them.
Improved Stability 1: Swarm Spawned infested Marines are easier to control and can now move as fast as their normal counterparts.
Improved Accuracy: Infested Marines are now far more accurate with their fire.
Basic fighters infested Wraiths have a faster reaction time then they're normal brethren and retain both they're laser attacks and ability to hid themselves from detection.
Scourge Pods: Allows the Infested Wraith to carry to Scourges into battle giving it a powerful missle attack.
Description: The basic infest Terran unit the infested Civilian is pretty much useless except as a distraction.

Finding a foundation
[x] Defense mission

You order you infested marines on patrol and also garrison the infested bunkers in case of enemy attack.

As it turns out your choice was a wise one as not long after you patrols begin your hive is swarmed by hordes of feral infested terrans, interested in nothing more than destroying everything in sight and shrieking in pain induced madness.

Your own infested Marines gun them down with little effort but not before the hordes manage to do some minor damage to your bunkers.

Hmmmm you still can't repair the bunkers so at least at the moment they are only a temporary solution to these attacks.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

You begin contemplating possibilities for a commander center.

The first one that comes to mind is you can try and re-create the hives of old. They won't offer much benefit to your infested terrans equipment but you know how they work and they should be more then decent at creating new larva.

Another possibility it to just infest a command center. They should provide a good boost to terran equipment but not so much in terms of larva.

Next on your list of possible options is the mega green house in the center of the city. Like the hive it should be great for birthing larva and isn't quite as bad with terran equipment, but because they weren't encounter much by the swarm you know less about how to utilize it.

Finally you can infest an old bombardment shelter you've found in the center of the city. It has great protection, should good for terran tech, and if used right should also be a fine place to raise larva, but it's immobile and you don't know much about how to use it.

What do you do (Choose2)
[x] While your area of control is great you are still but one mind. You should see if you can do something to fix that and ease your own mental load.

Which headquarters do you go with?
[x] The Hive.
[x] The Infested Commander Center.
[x] The Greenhouse
[x] The Underground Shelter

Repairs and Command
[x] Repairs and Command

In the end you decide to go with the shelter for you choice of foundation. It has the best defenses and doesn't hinder your ability to use either Terran technology or your own Zerg bioforms.

Still with all these terran defenses it's clear you're going to need something to repair them least combat or time wear them down.

At the moment you can see two options, you can try and have some of your infested terran pilot some "SCV's" you found in the shelter or you can and infested one of the automated construction machines you've found in the bunker, you're not really sure what the consequences for either would be, but you'll probably find out in due time.

XXXXXXXXXXXX

Next you begin looking for a possible command strain, or at least a method to help ease the strain on your own mind for a bit.

The first and most simple option is to go track down some Overlords for their essence. It may take a bit of effort to hunt the overlords in question down but it should be worth it.

Secondly you grow some infested terrans the long way and have them lead their fellows. While you can't really replicate terran psychics at the moment this new strain should be relieve you of the need to focus on minor details, and allow you to spend more time of the bigger picture.

Another possibility would be to grow terrans the fast way, but attempt to combine them with the damaged overlord essence you managed to retain. The effects will be nearly unpredictable though.

Finally you can try and infest some of these 'computers' the terrans have in some of their structures, they won't be very smart and you'll need to add in some Overlord DNA so they can actually control things, but they should do the job well enough.

What do you do next?

What do you do (Choose2)
[x] The terrans have domesticated many animals perhaps one could be of use.
[x] Look to the nearby infested cities hopefully they will have something useful.
[x] The infested barracks is proving effective you should look to see if there are any other buildings worth infesting.
[x] You know that their where terrans armed with flamethrowers running around in this place at some point, perhaps you should see if the armor they used is still around.
[x] Terran Marines are decent additions to your arsenal, but you'll need something better if you want to get anything done try and make a stronger combat strain.
[x] Infesters were not the only Zerg bio forms send down to this planet, you should good see if any of these other Zerg strains remained intact.

What worker unit do you use?
[x] Infested worker mob.
[x] Infested SCV.

What command strain do you see out?
[x] Overlord
[x] Natural Born infested Terrans
[x] Terran/Overlord hybrid
[x] Infested computer.

New strains
You put some effort into the creation of the Ogre strand.

The results are frankly beyond what you could ever hope to get. The current Ogre strand has a potent regeration, second only to the lost Torrasque strain of old and even then it's mostly because it's less durable overall then the Torrasque's base strain and cannot self-resurrect. In addition it has the ability to regurgitate a strange bacteria filled substance over fellow Zerg, temporarily making them more durable then they would be normally.

Reward: Ogres a powerful front line fight with the power to increase the durability of allied units.

The flaming nature of the Fire Bats will almost certainly come in handy, if you have need of acid you can make another unit for it.

Reward: Infested Fire Bat

While for the most part your search of the local area did not find much in the area of traditional strains, you do manage to find an old scourge nest along with accompanying scourge. From what you can tell the scourge doesn't live long functioning more like and organic missile then anything else.

Reward: Scourge nest and Scourge.

You put some energy into figuring out how to help the terran pilots integrate into their SCV's but are not able to think of anything at the moment.

[x] The Ogre strain is a great improvement on what you have, but you feel that you can do more.
[x] Ogres are great but difficult to mutate at the moment, you should create a dedicated structure to streamline production.

Infested Lab
[x] Infested Lab

Your decision to scour the city for structures worthy of infesting bears fruit as you find one of the terrans research facilities, you may not be able to use it now sense most of your infested terrans do not have state of mind needed for such a thing, but if you find one you'll surly get some use out of it.

XXXXXXXXXX

Creating a structure to house the Ogre strain is easy enough. This new facility which you've nicknamed the Muscle Chamber contains all the raw materials an Ogre needs to grow up big and strong, and may even provide benefits to the strength of other strains with enough work.

What do you do (Choose2)
[x] The terrans have domesticated many animals perhaps one could be of use.
[x] Look to the nearby infested cities hopefully they will have something useful.
[x] The infested barracks is proving effective and the lab looks promising, you should look to see if there are any other buildings worth infesting.
[x] While you didn't choose them for a command strain, infested terrans with natural grown patterns are intriguing, you should create on.
[x] The Ogre strain is a great improvement on what you have, but you feel that you can do more.

Adorable Infested Terran
[x] Natural Born infested Terran

You start the cloning process for a natural born infested terran.

Hopefully it will work.

"Daddy!" the tiny little infested terran girl hopes on top of you for the fifth time today "Daddy! Why is everyone else so sad?"

"I have no idea" you answer, it really doesn't make any sense to you "If I knew I'd have managed to stop it by now."

"Awwww" you feel sorrow from the infested terran but she quickly perks up. "You're so nice daddy I'm really glad to know you care so much!"

"Thank you." It really is nice to have a mental voice that isn't complaining in terms you can't understand or just not very talkative in the first place for once in your life. "I'm happy to have you around as well."

"Yay Daddy!" the small infested terran girl cheers before pausing "Uuuuh Dadd what's my name?

What is her name?

[x] Write in

In addition what does she learn as she grows?
[x] Combat command
[x] Terran Sciences

You aren't able to find much within the city sadly, and you come under attack by another feral infested terran swarm.

It may be time to start looking into places to expand.

What do you do (Choose2)
[x] The terrans have domesticated many animals perhaps one could be of use.
[x] Look to the nearby infested cities hopefully they will have something useful.
[x] The Ogre strain is a great improvement on what you have, but you feel that you can do more.
[x] Those feral infest terrans are starting to gather again, sweep them out of the area around your hive before they mass and cause trouble.

SCIENCE! and Culling the Ferals
[x] SCIENCE! and Culling the Ferals

Terra……………yes your daughter will be named Terra.

Speaking of Terra she seems to have taken a deep interest in the Terran sciences, growing ever more intelligent and capable of comprehending different subjects as she ages.

"Daddy!" Terra chirps happily "I've got an idea!"

……………….she'll be a very good help to the brood, you can feel it.

XXXXXX

You also look into integrating some of the animals the terrans have domesticating into the brood, while most have been killed by this point you have located one that might be worth looking into.

These animals known as 'dogs' have a great sense of smell and are great for detecting hidden foes.

So far you see two different ways to use these 'dogs' for your own ends.

The first one is to turn it into a suicide unit, expendable but most zerg ultimately are.

The second is to increase its combat capacities and turn it into a front line detector of sorts. It'll be around a Zergling in terms up strength and will be able to find hidden foes, but it's also likely you'll only be able to spawn one at a time instead of two like with normal Zerglings, assuming no further improvements are made from that point.

Which option do you pick?
[x] Option 1
[x] Option 2

XXXXXX

It was a wise move to cull the infested terrans while you had the chance, some of the mods that were starting to form where truly massive in size and they may even have had a chance of overwhelming you had they been allowed to form for much longer. As it was the battle was easy enough bit it could potentially have turned into a very painful experience, you should be careful not to ignore the outside world.

What do you do (Choose2)
[x] Look to the nearby infested cities hopefully they will have something useful.
[x] The Ogre strain is a great improvement on what you have, but you feel that you can do more.
[x] You'd better upgrade you fortifications some more, who knows what else the planet will send after you.
[x] Build another infested barracks you could use the extra production for infest marrines.

Terra's research projects. (Choose 1)
[x] Shrike turrets "Hey dad! Let's put a gun on those infested bunkers it'll make them even better at shooting the enemy!"
[x] Fortified Bunker "If we make bunkers tougher and able to hold more marines that's good! Right daddy!?"
[x] Infested Medic "Those Earth Terrans brought these madic people over that are apparently really good at healing people. Let's put that old equipment laying around to good use!?
[x] Perdition Turret (Fire) "With these we can burn all the bad guys!"
[x] Perdition Turret (Chemical) "On the other hand we can melt them with acid instead!"
[x] Adrenaline Boosters "With these we can make our Ogres and Infested Marines hit harder! It might hurt them a little though so we'll have to use it sparingly."
